This 45-acre gated retirement community was originally part of the historic Magnus Farm. Today it is The Moorings of Arlington Heights, a Presbyterian Homes community in the heart of Chicago's northwest suburbs.
Founded in 1904, Presbyterian Homes is a not-for-profit, faith based organization with a national reputation for creating extraordinary retirement communities. Presbyterian Homes serves older adults through its residential and healthcare programs on campuses in Evanston, Lake Forest and Arlington Heights, Illinois. The organization is accredited by CARF-CCAC (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities-Continuing Care Accreditation Commission), the nation's only accrediting body for retirement communities.

I visited The Moorings a couple of years ago before COVID hit. I was looking at it for my mother-in-law. I loved the grounds. I loved the fact that you could walk around, that they had gardens that you could work in. It was very open, and the residents just seemed quite comfortable, and that went for independent care and assisted.
Mary really went out of her way to help us out, but knew all the residents, and would say hello or say this is a person that might be able to help you with that question, and connecting us to the community. The dining room was very comfortable, casual, but nice, and it looked like assigned seating. But I did not eat there, we just looked at it.
It was definitely showing age in a few places, but overall kept very well, and it was clean. They have a bar that you can sit at. Besides meals, they have housekeeping services, and there are three different levels of care in the assisted living.
