The location of The Ivy at Hawaii Kai was very good. It had a lot of areas and open spaces one can walk about. The people seemed to be very friendly. Not all the one-bedrooms have a washer and dryer or a full kitchen though. If they have a full kitchen and washer and dryer in all the units, it would be deal. The food was good. We had lunch there and I liked the sandwiches. They had a gym, dance classes, a lot of exercise programs, and a swimming pool.

I went to both assisted living and independent living at Holiday Hawai'i Kai Retirement Community. It was a nice place, and they had friendly people. It was a very open area. It was quiet. It was in the valley, so there were nice views. They do a lot of things, and the price was reasonable. The staff was very friendly.

I toured Holiday Hawai'i Kai Retirement Community. What made me decide that that was not going to work was that they did not have progressive care available. They went part of the way up from independent living to assisted living, but you had to pay for the care yourself in addition to paying for the retirement home. So you get your own nurses or get your own helpers, and then there was no nursing home care or memory care available. The facility looked very nice. They are nice and spacious, and the apartments are very nice. They have a washer and dryer and dishwasher in the apartments. Whatever they offer seemed very good, but they didn't go all the way to offering end-of-life care.

Holiday Hawai'i Kai Retirement Community appeared to be fine. However, I think they need to update the common areas like the dining room area. It's a little bit gloomy. They have a lot of waterfalls outside. Outside, it's fine, but the community area that we toured is a little bit outdated. The staff was hosting the tour from the golf cart and drove us around. We saw the community area like the dining hall. There were spaces there, and she said that is for activities, but at that time there's no activity at all. We saw the swimming pool. She said it's a saltwater swimming pool, which is fine. It is kind of small, but it's adequate. The person who assisted me was very hospitable; she was very good. They always have a volunteer resident to join to explain things, and that is a very good approach. I like the way she presented the place to us, but I think the substance of the whole thing was not there. We saw the menu. The staff mentioned that they have a chef, and they would have meetings to talk about the food. Cleanliness is OK. We didn't get to see the inside except for the common area that I mentioned. I only got to see the dining room area and the office.

Hawai'i Kai Retirement Community was very open, very clean, and very peaceful. It's not near any traffic. We looked at the cottage, and it was very nice. The person who gave the tour was very informative, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. It looked very clean as well. They were having Tai Chi outside when I was there, but they also have a swimming pool, a library, and a very, very small workout area for the residents.

I went to look at Hawai'i Kai Retirement Community. The tour was OK, but the place is kind of old. The staff members were excellent and very good. I liked the area, very eerie, and the air is clean. The outdoor is well maintained.

I was impressed with Hawai'i Kai Retirement Community. I found it to be someplace desirable to live in if you were a senior. The staff was excellent, very friendly, warm, and seemed to be very caring. I thought the rooms were well kept. They were a bit small though, and they told me that it was going to be repaired, but some of the appliances were inoperable and it was a little worn down in some areas. Otherwise, they got some nice views out there. I also saw a schedule with all the crafts and different activities that they have, which seemed very nice. Compared with other places that I've seen, their amenities were excellent. I got to speak with some of the residents too, and they all seemed very happy and very content.

The Hawai'i Kai Retirement Community was fine. What was great was that besides the marketing person from Hawai'i Kai, they also brought along a resident to show me around to give a different perspective and that was very nice. I like the home, it was very nice. I think it pretty much fits our needs. The starting price was okay and everything was as expected, I guess. I know quite a bit about it since both of my parents were in this home 3 or 4 years ago. I looked at both independent and assisted living. For nursing care, I guess you can bring in somebody and contract that out since they don't have it. It's pretty good, I like the location because it's pretty close to where I live. They explained to me what the levels of care are exactly. The facilities for the different care would be the same, I think. It was not mealtime yet when I visited but I saw their menu for the month and it looked fine.

My mother-in-law is currently at Hawai'i Kai Retirement Community. It is well managed. The COVID restrictions are good. The meals are healthy for the elderly. I don't think I have anything negative to say. She has a caregiver with her. They have a menu, and you can select from the menu. There's always more than one choice. The food is done by chefs. I have eaten the food a few times. It's not like going to some fancy steakhouse, but the food is fine. I don't know how to say it any other way; the food is healthy. It is not junk food, which is good for the elderly because a lot of people have poor habits. They have nice facilities in regards to the accommodation. They have many activities. Because she's 97 and in a wheelchair, she doesn't participate too much. They do have facilities. Every day something goes on. If you are interested, you can participate. Everything from yoga for the elderly, to music, to storytelling; it goes on and on. They have a lot of exercise activity, but she doesn't participate too much because of her physical condition.

I've already moved into Hawaii Kai. It's not new, but I feel very comfortable here. It's a very open area. There is a lot of parking, and you have different things to do. I have a one-bedroom that's about 600 square feet. I have a living room, a sink, and a refrigerator. I have no stove, but I get three meals a day. The staff is very good. When you ask for things, they take care of them, and I really like that. The food is good. They have a dining area, and what I do is I check out my food to bring to my room because I have my dog with me. I take care of him, and I eat with him. I'm still moving in, and I haven't really gone to their activities, but they have different games, a swimming pool, a pool table, and arts and crafts. They have a lot of activities, and one good thing about that is I can walk my dog around the whole community. It's kind of spread out, so I have no problem with that. They really take care of the people, and the staff is wonderful. The facility is old, but it's well maintained.

Hawaii Kai was a nice place. I liked the tour. The staff was professional. It was clean and well kept. The location just didn't work out, and they didn't offer memory care. My grandpa has dementia, so that wouldn't have worked out for him. The rooms were good. We saw a studio apartment, and it would've been perfect for him, but the level of care that he needs exceeded what they could provide.

I went to Hawaii Kai. They appeared to be accommodating. At the time when I visited, there was a promotion or a discount for new tenants. At that particular time that was when they were doing door-to-door service for the meals, so I wasn't able to get the meal service. So she said that at a later date I could go and experience the meals. I thought she was very accommodating. She also followed up with me to see if there was a date in mind when I can go back and take my Dad. She's very personable. They have different levels of service. They can change the sheets and do the laundry, and then during the pandemic, they're doing door-to-door delivery. They also have activities like bingo night or sports game nights. They have all these activities that they plan for the seniors where they try to get them to socialize and communicate with each other. The staff was very welcoming. The facility is a little bit older but I know that they're good with upkeep.

I like Hawaii Kai. If I'll ever go, I'll be going there. It was outstanding. The food was good. They invited us for a free lunch and took us on a tour of the community. It is a high-end neighborhood with guarded homes that are expensive but beautiful, landscaped, and it is nice. The staff members are extra gracious, they make you feel welcome, and they look happy. The place is like a hotel. Ambience is very nice, too. I saw a 1-bedroom and a studio. The studio is just right because you have the bed and the TV, you have everything there. Also I don't have to clean because they clean, and they change the linens. It is a very pleasant place to go. I saw a bunch of people playing gin rummy. There were also socializing. Of the many communities that I had seen, Hawaii Kai is my choice. The staff was very pleasant. They welcome you. They also cater to people with restricted diet. If you are diabetic or have high blood pressure and need to have a special diet, they would do that for you. They have a dietitian. Hawaii Kai is not for just anybody, you have to be able to afford it, but to me, it's the best. They have a small bus that would take you to the shopping center, to places of interest, and to places where you would want to go. They would take you as a group. It is an excellent place.

Hawaii Kai was good and facilities looked nice. The services were good and the staff was excellent. The dining area looked good and the people looked happy. There were several scenarios where there was an outdoor activity and an exercise class. They have a library, computer room, and various activity rooms. The staff member who showed me around was very good.

My mother is living in Hawaii Kai, and it's fine; however, my mom cannot adjust to it. I really liked the facility. The management staff is good. She's in the independent living but has an agency assisting her with medication and escorting her to meals. Her one-bedroom has a nice location and convenient access to dining, laundry, and the parking lot. The room is big enough for us. They have weekly housekeeping, but they clean diligently only when family members are around.

I chose Hawaii Kai because I got a tour and liked it. The people and everything, the building, the staff, and the amenities, are good. They make sure they walk you to your meals and back to the room to make sure you get back safely.

I visited Hawaii Kai. The building was beautiful. I ate at the dining room, and the food was good. The only negative thing I have for this community is their apartments. They were small and plain, but I guess you're not supposed to be spending all your time in there. However, it looked like they have lots of nice things to do. They have yoga and dancing, and it was good.

Hawaii Kai was a really nice community. They have various housing living styles. You can have an apartment, or you can have a cottage. The rooms were really nice. It was a fairly new facility.

The only thing that’s keeping me from Hawaii Kai is the cost. It’s quite high. The rooms were very spacious. The dining room was like you were walking into any resort spa. They have light weights. They have walking areas, yoga, and chair exercise for arthritis.

I was very impressed with our tour at Hawaii Kai. It was nice when we got there because they had this little welcome sign for us and I feel that was very impressive. The biggest concern for me was the cost of the facility, but I saw that the staff seemed pretty good. I also like that it's light and airy and they have good activities.

I looked at Hawaii Kai because that is my home state, and I have family there, too. I went there in December. I love this facility. If I would go to an independent living or assisted living, that would be my choice. They treated me to lunch and it was wonderful. It was very, very good lunch, and it was the perfect portion for me, and I enjoyed it. The staff was wonderful; everything was very, very good. I love the place. If I were ready to go today, I would go there.

I really like this retirement community center that my grandmother is at. From the outside it is really nice. I looks like a 5 star hotel. When you pull into the parking lot there is a nice foyer with a waterfall and driveway the takes you right to the front desk. The exterior of the facility is decorated with beautiful plants and greenery. When you walk in the people at the front all greet you kindly and ask you how they can help you in any way. When you look around the inside of the facility it is very nice. A big waterfall area is located right at the front. As I walk around looking for my grandmother's room, there are tons of fun amenities that are supplied by the facility. There is an exercise room with treadmills, work out machines and a lot of other exercise equipment. Then there is the cafe or place where the tenants get all their meals. This area is located on the second floor and overlooks the waterfall in the front of the building. This is a very nice area. The facility is all and all very nice. The people are also very nice too. I feel that my grandmother is at a great place!
