My 90-year-old dad has lived in independent living at Sterling for almost 10 yrs. He recently commented how friendly everyone at Sterling is, and how helpful they are, "even when the area where they are helping is not even their responsibility.” What a blessing Sterling is to their residents and their families! (He also regularly comments how good the food is!)

Sterling Estates of East Cobb was very inviting and we liked the layout. They didn't have all that many cottages available. I think they had 14, something like that. We were hoping they might have had a few more but they had none available. One would have to go on a waiting list, but frankly, we thought the layout of the place was superb. The staff was very, very helpful and friendly. They answered all of our questions and were very attentive. We did a viewing of the food but we didn't sample it. It certainly looked good and we like the way they organize things. We looked at their independent living cottages. They were very nice and they had all the things that we were hoping they had. We saw people visiting in the lounges, we saw people just talking to each other, and some even came up to talk with us and they were quite friendly.

Sterling Estates of East Cobb is nearest our house, but it's more expensive than the West. The size of the place is only 16 acres. All the facilities are apartment buildings, 3-stories but there are some 2-stories with a garage underneath. They're kind of close together. They call them cottages, but they're apartments. They're large, and well over 2000 square feet. The elevators are relatively old and a little shaky to get up to the third floor. We had a friend who lived in the facility, and we've been into their apartment. It was very nice; however, it was on the third floor. They have since moved in and are now on the ground floor of another apartment within the facility. Another friend lives above them on the second floor of that facility. It's a 2-story and only one of two 2-story facilities in the complex. The tour guide, Laurie, was very enthusiastic. She took us to one of the apartments that were lived in, but the person that lived in it was not at home at the time. She knew that was, and he was amenable to having her show the apartment to customers. It was a large apartment, almost 2400 square feet, 3-bedroom. His wife had passed away three years ago, and he still lives there. The facility came out on the street level, and it had another apartment above it that came down to that entranceway by steps and by elevator from that second level above him. Each of the apartments in that building had an elevator from the garage up to the apartment itself. So, you could take the steps, or you could take the elevator. The facility has a water aerobics pool and a saltwater pool. They had a full exercise facility. But to walk in that area, you'd have to go over into the neighborhood, do a lot of walking because it's a very small, contained facility. When you come into the facility, you turn right and take a drive down the back of the facility's apartments in the main building. Then take a left and go up the hill. There are apartments all around in a circular drive that has parking places on them. Some of the facilities have garages underneath, but not all of them. We did not see any apartment inside the main building. The staff was very enthusiastic, very sure of herself, and knew her business.

Sterling Estates of East Cobb had a swimming pool, three meals a day served, and maid service once a week. It was a very nice place. The thing we did not like about it was that it did not have a full kitchen, but the food was delicious. They're very caring. The rooms were small. The lady who conducted the tour was very efficient in showing us around and answered our questions, which we really appreciated.

Sterling Estates of East Cobb was smaller and on a 10-acre campus. We liked the independent living. The facilities were gorgeous and very nice, and the people were very nice. The residents all looked pretty happy.

My Wife and I are 35 year residents of East Cobb. Having been a residential Realtor in the Atlanta area for 11 years, I have a number of older clients and friends who are our Parent's age. A number of these clients/friends have wanted to downsize but yet want the security of an active adult community. The staff and environment at Sterling Estates is just amazing! They focus on being as active as you can be. With a strong emphasis on wellness, this family-friendly environment, provides a beautiful setting, delicious meals and state of the art ammenities. There are always lots of activities going on there. I would doubt there is anything else in the state of Georgia, perhaps the Southeast which can touch this stellar place. Having had a Grandmother in an older adult setting in South Carolina, Sterling Estates is in the forefront of any such communities I have ever visited. A former client is a resident here now and has been for over a year now. It's great to visit the folks here as they are always upbeat, anxious to help and clearly welcome visitors. We are so fortunate to have this community in our area as Parents age and want to live near their children yet have their own home. Sterling Estates is just a perfect spot for those situations.
