The tour I had of Ashbrook Village independent living was good. The community was quiet, and I think it's something I would want to do because I'm ready for some quiet. The staff was very nice and very knowledgeable. They're very professional and just caring. The apartments were nice. They seem to be a little small, but that's just my personal opinion. The rooms were very clean and very well-kept. I think the stoves need to be updated. They're old, but not too old. I haven't tried their food but I looked down in their dining area, and it's very nice. A lot of people were there when I was there, and they were having lunch. They seem to be enjoying themselves.

Ashbrook Village is very nice. They also have assisted living and a memory unit for memory people. The apartments were outside. They had apartments that were set up like duplex apartments all the way around. There was a drive that went around the main building, and the apartments were on the other side of that driveway. They circled around. They did a half circle around the main building. They were nice, but they were very expensive. I would have had to pay all the utilities, buy my groceries, do my own cooking, and that type of thing. They were having a lock down at the time we were over there, so I did not get to meet much of the staff. I only met two people. They were very friendly and very nice, but these were office staff administrators. They were good, but they had no apartments available to even show. I didn't get to see inside an apartment. I went to the office. It was a private location. It was very nice, very wooded, well landscaped, and well kept.

When I got to Ashbrook Village, they said I did not have an appointment, although I spoke to several people again yesterday and they verified that I did have an appointment. I visited friends who lived there, and I saw their cottages. They were very caring and they had games, a game room, and invited anybody who wanted to come. We would go in and play. They were all two-bedrooms, and they were very nice. You could fix all your meals if you wanted to, you don't have to go to the dining room, but if you want to go to the dining room, you could go eat or play games. They need a code to get out without somebody taking them out, and we would take my friend out to the mall occasionally. We celebrated birthdays there and we always take birthday cakes and snacks for everybody. The staff kind of monitors the ones that couldn't have what they were given. The location is very nice and it's well kept. You could play rooks or play games, and then they would do arts and crafts. They have a coordinator. I would go and live there. You have to ring the doorbell outside and they come and let you in, then you have to sign the register saying that you were there and who you would be visiting. The food was good and the facility itself was very clean.

We toured Ashbrook Village. It was very thorough and very professional. The staff was very nice and one of the residents was kind enough to let us see her apartment. Everything was pristine, clean, well kept, and maintained. They had a tomato garden for the residents and it was very nice. They had a choice of meals if my sister didn't want to cook. They had housekeeping for a fee, they had a game room for the residents, they had medical services like podiatrists or a medical doctor who comes on campus. They had a beauty parlor, a game room, a private dining room, internet service, and cable. They have two-bedroom apartments, two-bedrooms and one bath, two-bedrooms and two baths, and two-bedrooms and an enclosed patio in the back.

I like that Ashbrook Village was modern. It was a new facility. What I like the least about it was the independent living was a little far away from the main building like where the dining hall and stuff are located. Some of the independent living cottages could be far away. We did independent living and the assisted living. The staff during the tour was very courteous, very knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. The amenities were kind of standard with an assisted living home, but everything was new and clean. People looked to be enjoying themselves. The facilities were very nice. They had a hair salon, a library, and an activity room where they do the games, bingo, and stuff like that.
