I've signed up with Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay. I like the idea that they just put a rental fee and I don't have to put a huge amount down. It's very new and they're trying to fill it up. One of the reasons I picked it is because one of the people who live there said it's like being aboard a cruise ship, and I said, 'I'm in, I'm in.'
There's a big washer/dryer and a microwave in the room. There's a big pool area and outside seating areas. They did an excellent job with the tour that I had. I thought they were young for being in assisted living, but apparently, they were already retired. I enjoyed meeting them. I talked to two different staff. Both knew their job and knew what was available, what you're paying for, what you get, and what you don't get and such. I've eaten there. I've had lunch and I've had dinner at a couple of different times. It's very nice. Everything is brand new. It is clean and unused actually. The other thing is that every time you pass somebody in the hall, they say, 'hello, hello.' Everybody's friendly.

My husband and I are staying at Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay's independent living. We chose it mainly for the activities that they're going to be having and the social interaction activities. They are going to have different fitness ones, arts and crafts, card games, and go out on field trips. The place is brand new so it's superb, it's great. They have an exercise room and a swimming pool. The staff is very nice and very helpful. The food is also excellent too so it's topnotch.
