My mother is at The Residence at Selleck's Woods. I chose this location because of the distance; it's literally around the corner from where I live. I'm very happy with it. I guess all communities are kind of going through a difficult time right now with the whole COVID thing, but I think in normal days when things aren't as restricted, it's going to be a really fun place to live, and she's going to be very happy there. There are scheduled visitations in the short term, and they have virtual-type activities. There's a wonderful program director, and there are a lot of great things going on. You can basically eat anytime you want, and they have a menu. When normal times come back, we will be able to eat with our family. It's hard, because I feel like the true conditions aren't really being met right now because of COVID. I feel that if they had the ability to entertain people as well as they could, go out, and things like that -- because they have a lot of van trips to various locations -- the rating would probably be closer to a five. There are some really good staff, and there are some that I'm not the greatest fan of, like everywhere you go. They just got a new chef, so he's been really good, but the previous chef wasn't so great.

The Residence at Selleck's Woods looks like it's going to be really nice. It has all new amenities and new a building overall. The facilities looked very promising, and right now, they're not taking people who require a lot of care. They want to get a full group of people who are pretty independent at this point and who can grow old together. So I think it would be a great community for somebody who is really, truly independent. The rooms seem really nice and beautiful, but the kitchens are small. The lady who gave us the tour was great. I felt she wasn't overly selling us and that she had the best interest of my grandfather at heart. They have a couple of activities, and they're working on getting more as they get more people living there. They have an exercise room, a hair salon, a gameroom, a billiards table, a nice garden outside, a full kitchen if you want to cook a big meal, and they have a movie theater.
