My friend is a resident of Lakewood Reserve and I have visited her several times. It's a very nice place, and the people are very caring and responsive to my friend's needs, so I'm pleased with that. However, she doesn't eat very much and calls the food institutional. I personally haven't seen any deficit in what they do. It's a good value for the money, except that she doesn't like the food.

The people in Atria Inn at Lakewood were very friendly. The place was very nice and I really liked it. My being so young, it seemed like a pretty good deal. For us medical marijuana patients, that's one of my issues, because the VA had me on so many opioids and other medications, but they have a really good marijuana policy. The big thing for me is they're willing to accept somebody my age. I did like the security and they have a fenced-in backyard. I liked the fact that the elevators were roomy and well-lit. The staff seemed more helpful than where I am at. I liked it a lot, but I can't afford it.

I am in Atria Inn at Lakewood. I like that it has a lot of freedom. It has a smoking area outside. I liked the dining room. They have exercise in the morning. They have art classes and play jeopardy or wheel of fortune. Some of the staff are helpful, and some are not. Overall, they are really short on caregivers and med techs. The front desk is very helpful. They should let the housekeepers as they are. They should not be adding extra duties to the caretakers and med techs because they are very short staffed. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a little bus that only comes on Tuesdays and Thursday.

I visited Atria Inn at Lakewood. I liked the cleanliness. The sizes of the rooms were awesome. There was living space in addition to a bedroom. It looked like an apartment. The only thing that would not make it a 5 star was the fact that it was expensive. However, they were wonderful. In fact, they were trying to give my parents a deal because of the price, but with my dad’s insurance, he had to pay for 4 months out of his own pocket first. To put both my mom and dad there would make it too expensive at this point. They had activities like movies. They went to the theater and things like that occasionally. They had special dinner nights; they would have a special meal and they would put it out in the patio so dinner would be served there in the patio. The served three meals a day, but the dining room was open almost 24-hours. They had scheduled hours for meals, but outside of the meal hours, they could order up off a menu. They had hair salons for both men and women. They had a little private eating areas, so that if families wanted to have a private meal with whoever was living there, they could do that. They had an area where you could have a church service or something. They also had set days that they would take you to your doctor’s appointments and errands. I thought they had a bus that would go accompany them on shopping.

Having had spent a lot of time with my parent at this facility in their memory care while locating a better facility for her, I saw a lot of neglect. Residents are not looked after, cared for or treated with the kind of respect they inform you they will. The small staff they have are clearly not trained to handle the special nature of an Alzheimer/Dementia patient. Don't believe the sales tactics they use ... they are NOT an all level care facility for Alzheimer's. Barely a level 1 facility. There are better facilities that you can trust and have comfort that your loved one is being taken care of properly ... Atria is NOT IT!

My visit in Atria Inn at Lakewood was very good. The marketing person tried to fit us in, but somebody else came, and they needed it. It was just very haphazard, and from that, I wouldn't put my friend there. I wouldn't put anybody there. I used to visit someone from my church over there for about two years. This facility was very nice, but it was too big. You could get lost. They were short staffed, and that is not good. She said, "I push my button and they never come." Then, I said push your button now while I'm here. An hour later, nobody showed up.

Everything was fine at Atria Inn at Lakewood. However, my ex-husband has Alzheimer's and that place is for seniors who are active. Also, for my ex-husband, that big of a place is going be a little too much. Nevertheless, the place was enjoyable. I did like the way how the place looked for the people. It was a nice place. It seemed like the people there were very happy there. The rooms were fine; however, you have to supply the bed, the linens, their towels, etc.

Atria was my first choice for Mom-in-law. When we went there, they were having some problems. It was not top notch but it was nice enough. The room we looked at was of good size. The community seemed to be very engaged in activities and enjoying socializing. One resident I talked to said the food was good. Mom-in-law was concerned she wouldn’t be able to be as mobile in that facility because it was larger.

Atria Inn has a lot of amenities. It was a very nice community but it is not meant for someone who needs more assistance. It is for fairly independent living seniors. Their activities looked great. My mother used the walker but they have very few clients who did that there. Also the configurations of their rooms were a little odd. During my visit there, two residents stopped me in the hall and asked me if I can help them and that bothered me a little bit. Nevertheless, I would recommend this facility for seniors who didn't need assistance.
