My mother was in MacKenzie Place Colorado Springs until Covid started. She'd been there a long time. I thought they were really good until Covid hit and then they didn't know how to handle it and treated everybody like 2-year-olds. They confined them to their rooms like they were in jail. They put a note on the door "Quarantine." Everybody's quarantined. We got back from a wedding and the first thing they said to mom, "You have to go to your room for two weeks." "You're quarantined for two weeks." That was the main thing. They just didn't handle Covid well, to start with. Every time she had to go to the doctor, they would say, "You're quarantined for two weeks. You can't leave your room for two weeks."
I still get their newsletter. They finally got their act together about six to eight months into Covid, but by that time, my mom was a mess. She couldn't take it anymore. She was sick and different things were going on. Overall, MacKenzie is a good place. We liked it. That's why we put my mom and dad there to start with. One of the reasons we liked it was it had independent living, assisted living, and memory care. We ended up having to put my dad in memory care and then he passed away. They've got a great swimming pool. Overall, they had a really good staff. It's on the expensive side, but it's a five-star quality price.
You had to pay $300 a month per person for food, which was outside the rent, and you use it or lose it. That was the only thing we didn't care for. My mom ate better there because she had to pay, whether she used it or not, so she made sure she went down and eat. I highly recommend MacKenzie Place. The food depends on the chef. They had really good chefs and crappy chefs. I liked the facility. They kept it clean and very nice and there's a lot of features to it.

I live right next door to MacKenzie Place Colorado Springs, it's very well thought of. They don't have any vacancies right now. We've been going over there as a neighbor. They had a policy where we could go use their pool and their exercise for like $30 a month. We did that until they absolutely had no more room for outsiders. They've been very good to us over the years, so I think a lot of them. It's a first-rate facility. They have cottages also and some separate housing away from the main building that are individually owned. I just used the pool area and the dining room, they also had a bar area. Those were the only three that we really used. The rooms were first class. I've been in the cottages and the individual ownerships. I have not been in one of their rooms or any of the apartments, but I've heard about them.

MacKenzie Place Colorado Springs is very large, the rooms were very spacious, and it's like a huge hotel, but everybody was really nice. It's just very big, and you have to like that part about it. It's very inviting, it felt luxurious, there's a lot of amenities, and a lot of people there. The dining area was big and well-lit.

MacKenzie Place is nice but a little pricey. The rooms are small but they are very nice, very clean, and very well kept. The grounds are well kept too. The people are very courteous and obliging. They have nice facility people. The people that live there, they love it. They have a movie theater and a card room. They have special days and trips. There are plenty of activities. We looked at the independent but the assisted living is the same floorplan. For the extra price, you can have someone help you with bathing and medication. They have a lovely dining room. The place is very well kept and tidy.

MacKenzie Place was very organized and very clean. The person who assisted me during the tour was outstanding. The dining area was also outstanding. They had very personable service, and the food was good. There were people playing cards and doing aerobics. They had a salon, too.

We have been to Mackenzie Place, and it was excellent. The only reason we turned it down is that we did not care for the area in which it was located. It was beautifully appointed, the food was excellent, and the service was wonderful. The people were great; they were most gracious. But we decided that we did not want to move to Colorado Springs, weather-wise. Our daughter at one time lived there, and now she is farther away; we felt that is too far between the 2 of them. Three hours over the snow covered mountains is not a lot of fun. They have everything that you would probably enjoy. They had a swimming pool and a patio, they had activities and two dining areas, and the dining areas were not restricted as far as time is concerned. There are certain meals at certain times, but you were not restricted as to when, where, how, and why you entered either dining area. The apartment that we stayed in was well-appointed, and it was fairly new. The kitchen area was absolutely sparking with new appliances and new counters, and it appeared well taken care of. From what we saw, it was quite desirable, and the main reason that we decided against it was its location. If we could find something that is similar at another location, we would probably look very seriously at it because the price was right.

MacKenzie Place Colorado Springs was very inviting. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed my tour, and it was on top of my list because of their cottages. I had lunch, and the food was terrific.

MacKenzie Place Colorado Springs was very nice. It’s almost all brand new, so it’s very well maintained. The rooms were very well sized and beautifully kept. The staff was really personable and very helping. Their dining area was beautiful.
It appeared that they would have plenty of activities that my in-laws would be interested in. They have set fees, but if you get more meals than what your food budget is, then the price is more, so it didn’t really cover all your food. If you chose to buy a more expensive meal because their dining area was more like a restaurant, then you could go over what your food was. It was a bit deceptive, I guess.

MacKenzie Place Colorado Springs was awesome. Everything about it was great. It was a newer facility. It was like a dry dock cruise ship. The food was excellent. The service attention was awesome. Mark was very professional. They were willing to show us around and answer our questions. They let us see what was available. There were people in the beauty shop. There were people playing cards. There were men playing Wii bowling. There was a movie theater. It was a healthy environment to be in.

MacKenzie Place was a little more expensive; you had to have money to live there, but it was very nice. The rooms that I wanted to live in were very nice, and the chefs were excellent. The overall atmosphere kind of gave me a calming effect.

The people were very nice at MacKenzie Place. I was impressed how the lady that gave me the tour seemed to know everybody that we passed. She knew personal things about them and was very interactive with the clientele. They offer two meals a day. They get a discount off the menu, but it was like a regular restaurant menu, probably a little more extensive menu than others. They have workout rooms and personal trainers. It seemed nice.
