Francis Heights is OK but it's small. I’m not here all the time as I hate the 5th floor. I hate having to go down the elevators. We have to put our name in for parking in the back, and we've had our name in for quite a while and can’t get in parking yet. We have to park on the street; I hate that. I don’t like it, but my husband does. When something happens, they’re here right away, and if something is going on, they communicate to us; they’re very good at that. It’s a 1-bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen. However, it’s going to cost me $300 or $400 to get my dogs here.

When I got my social security check, I moved into Francis Heights Apartments. The price was based on what my income was. They've been very, very nice here. They have a food program, and once a month they give me a box of food. It has milk, vegetables, cheese blocks, peanut butter, and several other things. They also have a dining room here that serves a variety of menu. Once a week, they give $4 off of meal. They have a really nice swimming pool and a small gym. They're neat and clean. I'm very happy here. When I moved in, the carpet was new and the appliances and the bathroom fixtures were new. Everything is just perfect. It's one of the nicest places that I've ever lived in. When I first got here, I didn't have any furniture, so I was sleeping on the floor. The people here are very nice. I've had some neighbors over for dinner. I'm 71, but I'm still in very good health. But most of the people here are either in walkers or wheelchairs or have a cane. Everybody is friendly and very happy here. They also have a regular bus that comes by to take people to stores. We can walk down the park and walk around the lake. I'm surprised I got this place because I understand the waiting list is 2 to 3 years.

Francis Heights Apartments is subsidized by HUD. They had a lot of activities and they had a swimming pool. They had more apartments as well. However, we didn't care for the high-rise one. And there is no place to park.
