HEALTHCARE

Casa Sandoval offers round-the-clock assisted living services. Nurses are available 24 hours a day to help residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing and managing medication. The staff also works closely with residents and their families to arrange for the right level of care, based on individual needs. There are five levels of care available at Casa Sandoval, each designed to provide residents with the support and services they need to stay active and independent for as long as possible.

Saint Rose Hospital, which is only a short drive from Casa Sandoval, is highly rated by U.S. News & World Report and specializes in emergency cardiac care, cancer care and women's services. Several other hospitals and clinics are located nearby, including Sutter Health Eden Medical Center, Fairmont Hospital and Kaiser Permanente Hospital. The staff and nurses at Casa Sandoval help find the right care at the right price for residents and transport them to doctor’s appointments via the facility's shuttle service.

We looked at Casa Sandoval Senior Living in Hayward, which was excellent. All of the staff were excellent. They showed us a 1-bedroom apartment, and it was beautiful. They were going through a remodeling, and it was really good. They had both family and common rooms. They were nicely appointed. They're going through construction right now, so we couldn't see everything. Even the temporary setup they had was still nice, while they're under construction. They also had an outdoor seating area with some open seats.

I visited Casa Sandoval Senior Living for my mother. The staff was friendly, the apartment spaces and layout were nice, and they're updating the building. That's something I looked forward to at the time, because it was older. The food wasn't totally healthy, some things were very processed. They had an ice cream parlor, they had musical entertainment come in from outside entertainers, and they had outings.

Casa Sandoval was nice. Everything seemed clean, I saw the apartments, and they were fine, but I didn't care for the two-bedroom. The food looked nice; the lady was nice and gave us a lot of information. I saw an outside patio.

My father-in-law is settled at Casa Sandoval. It is five minutes from us. They have really good food, activities, a lot of residents, and spacious apartments. The staff is very nice. It's close to an area where he could go out and walk to the grocery store or the bank. The only thing is that some of the furnishing in the living room is a little bit older, and the carpeting in the hallways could be replaced. He is at the moment in the independent living, but we will be moving him down. We tried the food, and personally I like a little more seasoning on my food, but they have to cook for everybody, so it's a little bland. They have salt and pepper there, so you could do it yourself. They had the standard activities, but they could do a few more.

My sister is now at Casa Sandoval. She still feels that they’re a little expensive, but she seems to be OK with it. She would rather be in an apartment by herself. As far as I’m concerned because I don’t live there and she does, I think security is relatively good. I see no problem with security. It’s a great location for her. The apartment is adequate. I went for a Sunday brunch, and it was excellent, but I’ve never eaten during the week. They are staffed well. As far as I’m concerned, they have enough activities, it is just the matter of my sister wanting to join activities. They have bingo and balance classes. I have seen them in the afternoon. There are lots of activities that are available there.

My sister moved into Casa Sandoval more than six months ago. Her daughters live 10 or 15 minutes away, so they're able to visit her. It’s very convenient, but she doesn’t like the amount of money she’s paying for it. However, the other places we looked at were similar for the same cost, so there’s not much difference. There are a lot of activities going on, and she’s slowly partaking in them.
