Our trip to Atria Grass Valley was very nice, but the weather was too hot for me, plus the people in town said the air quality isn't good there. I wanted a two-bedroom cottage, but there is a two-year wait. The people were excellent. The girl who took me around was very good. It was a very good visit, and I discussed a lot of things with them. I'd give them a 5 for what I saw, what they told me, and what they showed me, but not for living there. It was over 100 degrees every day, and we all agreed that it would not be the place; I thought going to a mountain area may be a little bit cooler. They cannot control the weather. They showed me the one-bedroom/one-bath, the dining room, the hall, the exercise room, and told me about the pool that you could go to, which was not on the property. They showed me a menu and introduced me to various people. They offered us a meal. I did not like the smallness of the place inside. It's too hard going from a brightly lit house into 600 square feet. I could not handle that at this stage. They had good amenities. They were very good, and the people living there seemed to be very happy with the place. I can't move into such a small place at this time, and a larger place was not available for two years. Plus, it was so hot that I walked into the lake fully dressed to cool off. They have air-conditioning inside but I don't want to be inside all the time. I want to be out in the fresh air.

I wanted to go to Atria in Grass Valley. I decided I would go to a cottage, and hopefully I could get in because they did not have many. I liked it, but except for the cottages, it wasn’t really what I was looking for because I was looking for two bedroom units and they mostly had one bedroom. I thought they had three 2-bedroom units inside the main building, then they had the cottages. I liked the idea of the cottages. I thought it would be an easier transition to go from the house to a duplex.
I didn’t really interact with any of the staff except for the marketing lady that showed me the place. I liked her. She was very helpful and very nice. I had lunch, and the lunch seemed fine and pleasant. I had a meal with one of the residents who was also in the cottages. We were able to talk to her and we got some information.

We visited Atria Grass Valley. It was a wonderful place and we had a great tour. We had lunch there. We met some residents and staff. I would certainly recommend it. The food was excellent. The rooms and grounds were beautiful. They had lots of activities. They had lots of things at the place. Grass Valley was a very cultural place in itself and so they offered a lot of opportunities to do things.

We really liked Atria Grass Valley. The place was great. The staff was very nice. In fact, they had already invited my mother-in-law, although she was not in yet and she was on the waiting list, to a seminar that’s taking place all day. That was really nice. I would definitely recommend it. As far as what I had seen, I was very impressed.

Atria was very fancy and very expensive to me. They served three meals a day and had housekeeping and bus service. The rooms were nice and of different sizes.

The staff at Atria Grass Valley was exceptional. There were lots of followups. They were very cooperative and answered our questions when we visited. The facility has art programs too, so that was good. It was very good. My mother would have done very well going there too. However, I rated them a 4 because they didn't have a pool. Otherwise they have all the similar type of activities, and I felt really good about it. The staff was friendly and made my mom feel at home. They did a really good job of making it feel that they really want her to come there.

Quail Ridge is a beautiful retirement community. It's located on a hilltop just a few minutes out of the downtown area, close enough for someone to walk (or take the bus, which is available to residents). The surrounding view isn't anything spectacular, but the landscaping and buildings on the property are lovely. Every time I've visited, the staff were very friendly and helpful as well. The lobby and hallways are always clean and peaceful. The residents I spoke with seemed very happy with their accommodations and the rooms I saw were well-decorated, spacious, and bright. I was also impressed with the activities offered for residents. I took a look at the schedule of events on a calendar when I was there and things seemed pretty busy. Of course, I haven't spent an extensive amount of time there myself and I haven't had any particularly long conversations with the residents about their situations, but from my experience so far I'd say that Quail Ridge is a very nice place to live.
