Pacifica Senior Living Fresno has very nice grounds. We like the balconies available in the rooms. We like the personnel that we met. We talked to a few of the people who live there, and they were very happy with what they have. One man pointed out that he liked that he had his own parking place and so he didn't have to worry about other people parking in it, and that made it easier for him. So we thought, "That was just a nice little touch."
The staff who gave me the tour was very nice, very knowledgeable, and very friendly. She made a good impression, actually. She talked to us about the advantages of living there, what the programs were, and what we could expect. She did a very nice thorough job of explaining everything.
We did not dine at this one yet, but the people seemed to enjoy the meals. We liked the rooms. They were spacious enough that we would not feel cramped, and we could see that our furniture would fit in very well. I think that it would be a place that we could enjoy living. They have a TV room, they have a game room, they have a little library, and they have activities that go on throughout the day and evening for the residents. It seemed to me as though there's always something to do.
Pacifica Senior Living Fresno was a little bit farther out from the city. We didn't think it was a good one because it might be a little bit too difficult to get to doctor's appointments, even though they provided transportation. So we were a little bit concerned about the location. It was just a little bit too far off. The staff was very willing to be asked questions, very open, and very knowledgeable. They were aware of the facility's capabilities what they could and couldn't do, which was all deeply appreciated. We were told a lot of the residents were choosing to stay in their rooms and not participate in any activities. We saw schedules, but many of the activities were not taking place because the residents were self-isolating.
The rooms were nicely appointed. The one we saw had furniture in it as a model. They encourage people to bring their own furniture to make it feel more like home to them. They were not quite as up-to-date as the other facility, but they certainly were adequate for a single person who would be living there by herself. The facility was clean. Everybody was doing extra cleaning and stuff. It made me feel reassured that people were cautious and aware of how easily disease could spread. The walls were cleaned, and the carpet was vacuumed.
Pacifica Senior Living Fresno was very pretty. The tour started with lunch. It was a very well-balanced meal. The people were cordial. The place was very nice and very well kept. It gave a warm feeling. The meals, gas, and electricity were included, but if you wanted a cable or TV, you had to pay for all that. They also had a nice gym and a nice kitchen (with stove, oven, and a large refrigerator). The youngest they had was like in their 80s and we're in our 60s. So, it was not a good fit for us.
The person that gave us the tour was very knowledgeable and knew what to show us. We asked her about the two different places that we looked at, and she said, "Oh, you don't want those." So, I thought that was very unprofessional of her, but she was young, energetic, and was good about the tour. She knew where she was going and showed us all the perks. The thing was you'd have to move over to another section/building if you're moving from independent to assisted living (and we didn't want to move again).
The activities were wonderful, but I was kind of surprised that nothing was outside (like music in the evening or the spring). They had beautiful grounds but it was always inside. The rooms were very spacious. There was a lot of light in it, which was nice. They also had a swimming pool and a hot tub. The balcony was a lot easier to get out of. There wasn't a big lip on it, so you don't have to step down. Part of it was carpeted, while the other part of it was hardwood floors, so to me, that could be a tripping problem. Other than that, the place was clean.
It was a wonderful place. I loved it. They were all very helpful and very professional. The food was excellent. I ate there three different times, and one time I didn't want what was on the menu, so they fixed me what I wanted. They had live music, art programs, water aerobics, exercise programs, and movies.
It was nice. The apartment that they showed me was really nice, but it was way down the hall, so we were concerned about its distance from the activities. The place was very bright and open and the staff was really good. They also go out and and do things with the residents, including other activities. The dining area was very nice as well.
