Atria Collwood was nice. The people were nice at the time. The layout was good. They had transportation and food. It was a good value. It was just at the time, that they weren't taking people because of COVID. They just had a change of management. The old management was lovely, and I only interacted with the new management once or twice and at the time, it was a little chaotic because they were changing.

Atria Collwood was small. It did not have a lot of courtyard/open space, it was limited, but the location was good. It was more in town, right in the urban area. The rooms were small too, but they were the least expensive. They had rooms starting at $1,800 or $1,900 a month. They had sit down dining services as opposed to a buffet, which looked nice, and daily activities for the people, happy hours every once in a while, and areas where people could exercise. They had some different facilities, so overall, I thought the money was reasonable.

I toured Atria Collwood. John, the person there, was supposed to get back to me, hopefully soon. They have a special on one of the studios. Because of my limited finances, he was going to get back to me and let me know if that was still available. I think it was $1,500-something. It suits me and it is in a good location. It's very clean and very nice. We've toured both the independent and the assisted, and I've got the information for both. The experience was very positive. The employees were very warm and inviting. I met some of the people living there; several people. All the rooms were very nice. The studio that I saw was very spacious. Even though it was a studio, it can accommodate a queen size bed. The bathrooms were very nice too. It was landscaped well. Fresh paint on everything with flowers. I mean, it was very inviting. John was the person who walked me through, and he was very kind, very patient, and took the time to explain anything and everything, and answered any questions that we had. He was very accommodating. The dining room can accommodate 50 percent of the people, and then 50 percent they take to the rooms to keep the social distance going, but it was very, very nice.

I really liked this place for my grandma. The reason why I liked it is because she was happy and made a lot of friends there. The facility kept my grandma engaged- from their library to their social events- she always had something to do. The staff made a huge difference here too. They were always polite to me and my family. They were gentle with my grandma when ever she had problems. They were there to help when ever she needed it, it did not matter what it was! They took her cloth shopping, reminded her to take her medication, and helped her clean her apartment. My grand ma has become a bit of a picky eater, which really was not a problem here! Usually negative thoughts come to mind when one thinks of food at a hospital or retirement facility, but the food here was great and there were options for my picky grandma.
