Serra Highlands Senior Living looked very good. The ambiance was nice. The guy who gave us the tour showed every aspect of the residence. I can see that probably it's a good place for my mom, but I need to compare with the other ones. The apartment was small. She needs everything accessible and there's not too long distance between the bed and the bathroom. It was very cozy and nice. I really liked it. They showed me two rooms, one where she can have a dining table and a couch for visitors, and it had a bathroom and a bedroom. The other one is a studio, which only had the bedroom and the bathroom. There is another option where she can share the bathroom, but I don't like the idea.
They have a beauty salon, they have a podiatrist, and also the doctor can come over. The only thing is they don't have manicures, but probably in the future they're going to have one. The staff who gave me the tour gave me complete information and answered all my questions. Everything's nice and clean. They have a garden, flowers, barbecue outside, umbrellas, and the patio. However, there's one part where they have the backdoor that they access to the street. I can see that it's a little dangerous for people with dementia. If in the middle of the night they forgot to close to door, somebody can have access to go into their room, but the guy said they have security. Around 5:00, they're going to check all the doors. That's the only inconvenience I see.

We visited Serra Highlands Senior Living. It was nice. Everything was very clean, and the people were really friendly. The rooms were a little outdated. They had shared bathrooms, and they were pretty small. They had to share a bathroom with the other unit next to it. The staff who gave the tour was amazing. She was really, really thorough, friendly, and competent. She's really good at what she did. They have lots of activities there, like arts and crafts type things. Some people were playing bingo and walking around. Everybody was very, very friendly.

I went more than a month ago. So far the senior citizens are really happy about the place. Once you enter, they have different rooms, most of them don't need a lot of help, just their medications, and cleaning of the room. They have the dining room area, an area where they have lots of games. They have a living room where they go for tea or breakfast. They have fun having different games. They have a music room, also libraries. Someone is attending to the snacks. The staff is good. I thought that they were attentive, it seems like they know each other, and also the seniors are really happy with their service. Even the outside of the facilities is nice and clean.

It was very nice and the lady at the reception was very nice to show me around the place and see everything, including the dining room, the living rooms, and a place where they meet for movies and all those things. I saw a studio and it seemed comfortable, but for someone active like me, I found it a bit small and restricting my movement. I would prefer a bigger place.

I've been here for two months now. The room is very small, it's like a little hotel room, so I'm a little crowded in here, but they keep it very clean. I'm in an independent living unit. I get the housekeeping and the laundry, which is good. I can take the meals in the dining room and that's included. The meals are very simple, nothing elaborate. The staff is very helpful. There are some activities and they are starting to open them up a little bit more, but I don't participate very much. Once in a while maybe I'll go down there. They have an exercise activity and I go to that once in a while. Transportation is really good. They will take me anywhere I want to go around here and they will even take me up to San Francisco, they say, and to the VA Hospital, which is the closest hospital here. In general, it's pretty good.
