About This Community
A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) offers residents a maintenance-free lifestyle with several levels of health care options on one campus. You can plan for the future, knowing that most of your health care needs can be met without moving to another community. Couples with different needs don't have to be separated, miles apart. You can still spend quality time together and participate in joint activities. If one of you needs Assisted Living, you can be located in nearby residences and visit regularly.
The Canterbury CCRC has three levels of on-site care:
Independent Living for active people who don't need personal assistance;
Assisted Living for residents who require help with bathing, dressing and other activities of daily living;
Skilled Nursing for residents with chronic health issues or emergency needs.
There are financial benefits to the CCRC choice. It's much easier to control long-term expenses when your health costs are more predictable. It's also less costly than having to pay-as-you-go at prevailing rates.

The Canterbury seemed like a very nice facility. It was in a good location and it had good support services for their clientele. The staff is very kind, showed us around, treated us to dinner in the cafeteria, answered all our questions, and showed us a variety of accommodations that would potentially be available. We looked at 1- and 2-bedroom apartments. They showed us a meeting room, library, music room, and exercise room.
