I've been to The Hacienda at the Canyon. It was very, very large. I felt like I was in a hotel. It was a brief visit. I had dinner there and the food was fine. It was not memorable though. The apartments were very nice. I saw a two-bedroom apartment. I've seen the pool, but that's all. For me, it was just too big.

It's a nice facility, but EXTREMELY expensive. I don't know what the exorbitant membership fee is for. Staff are nice, but kind of cold. You don't get the warm, fuzzies with them. When you call and leave a message, they take a long time to return the call if they ever do. They are a bit unorganized for as expensive a place as it is. Information is not given accurately. One staff gives information and another staff gives different information.

The Hacienda at the Canyon is new. We saw independent only, and we were very socially distanced. We saw a meeting room and looked in the hallways through glass. We saw two apartments. The staff member was a very nice lady. That's where we'd go if Mom would agree to it. The biggest issue was the $50,000 entry fee. It's like joining a country club, but it's gorgeous. The other big piece that really caught my attention was it has an in-house medical clinic through TMC, which is one of the major hospitals here, and it's 24/7. Her doctors could even come from this clinic. It's staffed by nurse practitioners. I wouldn't even have to find her doctors if she came here. She could actually have her doctor through that and it would be in the facility. It's a real up and coming system. The room was smaller than where Mom is in currently. She's in a big two-bedroom, and when you cut down to a one-bedroom independent, it just cuts everywhere. The living room is smaller, but other than that, it's new, fresh, and beautiful. It had a roll-in shower, so there's no lip on the showers, and you can just roll right in. There's nothing you have to step over, so it's very safe in that regard. It had washer and dryer hookups. They had five restaurants, which were all huge. They had one main dining and four small different styles of food, just to give them variety. They made us a little baked bag, and it was delicious. We only saw independent, but they had assisted and memory care. They did not have skilled nursing. The staff was very lovely and very helpful. It's gorgeous, and it's nestled in the side of the mountains, and inside the courtyard areas it's all grass. The inner courtyards were very lush and green, and all the levels had a floor out to the ground level.
