We went to The Citadel Senior Living. We toured the facility. It's a nice facility with many amenities. It was clean. The staff was good. The rooms were slightly smaller than the other place we went to. One of the drawbacks was the laundry. There was no laundry facility. The rooms and the appliances were old.

I've decided not to go with The Citadel Senior Living because I'm not ready for the all-inclusive idea. I prefer just a humble living, simple, and do-it-myself, in a nice environment. I did not go on the tour but I met with the woman staff. We sat down in the office and we spoke for a while. I must admit, the place was beautiful, in a nice setting, and an ideal environment. I did manage to observe a few residents there, of course, I didn't speak to them. It was somewhat quiet, and it was a nice setting. They have courtyards and they described to me that meals are prepared by chefs. They also have weekly cleaning, you have somebody come in and do the linens. They do shopping too and there's transportation accessible for that. The staff was very pleasant and informative. Most importantly, she listened and she understood what I was explaining to her. That for me was very helpful. I didn't see much activity but the staff described some activities to me and they seemed appealing.

We are going to be in the independent living at The Citadel Senior Living. They have just about everything. They have two meals a day, which is what we prefer over three meals, they have all the utilities including cable TV, and they do housekeeping and sheet laundry once a week. They also offer for you to do your own laundry, and they provide the laundry soap, too. However, if you want to, for a small fee you can have even your personal laundry done. They have a chapel, a heated swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a large, lovely dining room, and a very nice menu. The lady who was in charge of the tour is very good at what she does. The staff we saw was very friendly, but we really didn't interact directly with them because the manager did the tour and everything. The Citadel Senior Living is probably the oldest senior living as far as anything we looked at, so for the age, it is excellent. They have modernized and upgraded the apartments so that they don't look like they are twenty years old. Also, it was more affordable than others. They gave us a larger apartment than what we asked for, and the money was fabulous. Normally, they charge extra for covered parking; in fact, several of them did that. However, the staff said, "I don't think that's being used, so you can use that one," so we are getting covered parking without having to pay for it because that was an extra twenty-five dollars a month.

The Citadel Senior Living was a big facility, things seemed to be spread out, and it didn't appeal to me. It was three stories. I want something smaller and more compact than that place. I looked at both two-bedroom and one-bedroom apartments. It was just big and spread out, the library was down this hallway, and down another hallway, and a different building was the physical therapy, and over there was the dining; it was just something I didn't care for. The staff was nice, I don't have any complaints with her, she was very friendly, and answered questions, and I thought she was honest and frank about the place. We went by the dining room, there was nobody there, and the staff was there taking a break. It was a big dining facility.

We went to The Citadel Senior Living. It was bigger than the other place we saw, we liked the rooms, and they had better amenities. We stood outside but nobody came to help, and I had to look for someone to answer our questions. Their facilities were nice, they had a pool, and a big dining room with good food.

My tour at The Citadel Senior Living was quite pleasant, the people were very cordial and helpful. They took me to see a model room, it seemed sufficient and I liked about the bathroom was that the bathtubs were easily accessible so they can go in and out without having too much difficulty. The room sizes were big enough for a person, and it was quite clean and nice. Everything about the community was very pleasant. I saw their dining room and their library too, it was quite pleasant.

The Citadel was a little bit older, but I like their setup. I think the staff member was new because the few questions we asked, he didn't really know the answer, but he gave us a good tour and he showed us the rooms. I liked their 1-bedroom. He also told me I had the choice between carpet and non-carpet. The living atmosphere was very easygoing. There were people sitting out in verandas and some were in the lunchroom. He also showed me the recreation area. They had a pool and an exercise area. Overall, the staff was nice and friendly.

The Citadel Senior Living was a nice facility. I mostly talked with the manager, but she was very nice and informative. The room had a small kitchenette. But they wanted the residents to be active and social, and so the people would want to be in the main common areas. The dining area was nice, it looked like it had a normal diner/restaurant environment. They had a crafts area, a church on site which was nice, and a TV room or gameroom.

The Citadel Senior Living was fine, but we live in a larger home and the 2-bedroom apartment there was just too cramped for us. They're older and just didn't have any appeal. Also, you have to walk from your apartment all the way down to the dining room, and it was really a hot day when we were there. I knew I wouldn't be able to do that if we lived there. They have buses that take the residents to different place. They have a laundry service, but it's a little bit of a walk for me. I wish it was a little bit closer. The staff member who gave us the tour was fine. They have church services in the little chapel which is something that's helpful to us. We visited with the residents there, and they said they didn't like the food. I don't know why because it didn't look too bad to me.

I've only been here at Citadel Retirement for two weeks. There's so much to do, you'd go crazy trying to do it all. I'm very happy I moved here and I think it's the perfect thing for me. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. The food is very good and you really get a lot. They have transportation to any medical appointments within a 10 mile radius and they go to just about any store you would want every week.

I liked Citadel Retirement a lot. I liked the meals and the camaraderie. It was very clean. The person that gave me the tour was very knowledgeable. They had different activities like sewing, cooking, cards, and bingo. They had a stage where they do modeling, and they also had music nights.

My father moved to The Citadel Retirement. What we like about it is that it is a newer facility, and it had the capability of being independent living now, but assisted living later if it's that what he needs. He liked that his meals are provided, and they are doing his laundry and cleaning his apartment for him, which he enjoys. He likes the activities every day, and he can just show up and get involved with those. They really got a lot of residents engaged because he had gone to several different activities, there are always a lot of people there wanting to do it, so it's fun and he is making a lot of new people that way. There is also an emergency button in his room, and once a day, he has to push the button to let them know that he is up and moving. If he doesn’t push the button, they come up to his room. He also needs to push if he needs help, and he likes that.

I met one very friendly person at Citadel Retirement. I like the fact that they had outdoor porches, and the room I saw had a nice storage space on the outside porch area.

We toured The Citadel and we were very impressed. The staff was very amicable and very friendly. They gave me the right information that I needed. We went ahead and took a tour of the independent living. We talked about it, and the staff was very nice and personal. I had a good feeling about it as far as atmosphere. They have a spa, and they transport the residents that need to go to doctor’s appointments. The independent living rooms can have a kitchen with a stove, microwave and refrigerator. They’ve got activities going on all the time. They have specific days every week where they can take people to go to a movie, to a restaurant or go shopping at places like Michael's, Walmart, and Target; so it’s really so nice. It’s a new facility and it’s very spacious. Overall I didn’t see anything negative at all; it was great. It is really close to where my mother is living now, and that’s where she does all of the shopping and hobnobbing around stores and groceries. Everything is right there so she’s familiar with that area.

Citadel Retirement meets my needs; that is why I chose them. It is not independent completely. It is somewhat/ halfway into assisted. My first impression of it was very good. The staff's work ethics are very good. I have a private apartment. It is very good. It fits my needs very well. Regarding food though, I don't have any outstanding comments about that.
