We chose Cottonwood Village for my father-in-law. He has moved in, and he is still getting used to it. It is a facility that has independent apartments in one part and then in the same village, it also has assisted living, so as things progress, if need be, we can move him to get more assistance and help. He is also very close to where we live. The location is very important because it's close to our house. My father-in-law doesn't have much of an income, and my wife and I are still supporting all our children, so the cost was important, too. There are a lot of things for him to do there. Events, activities, gathering rooms, and church are all there in the same building.
They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Part of the fee is two meals a day. My wife and I have had dinner there before, and the food quality is good. The portions are small from what I'm used to, but they're good for a senior, and the waitstaff is very attentive.
My father-in-law has a studio apartment. It has a small kitchenette, a bathroom, and a large room that doubles as a bedroom and as a living room. Wi-Fi is offered, and he has a nice view of the mountains. The business manager was awesome. He worked with us. He was very helpful and provided all the answers to our questions.

I went to Cottonwood Village. It was not great. The only good thing about it, I guess if people like it, it does have a lot of activity. I was looking at the board, they have all kinds of activities if people want to do that. But the facility itself, I was so disappointed in it for that amount of money. I walked in and it looked old, the carpets were old and worn and the only thing nice about it was, they've tried to impress us with the dining room because it has about six, big, beautiful chandeliers. I couldn't see the effects of the wood because it had tablecloths on them. When she took me up to look at the different apartments, one bedroom or studio, or whatever else it was, I was shocked at how shabby they looked. They looked dirty, the carpets were not good and the little kitchenettes, I looked at those cabinets and they looked like 1930 cabinets, like the old Maplewood, and it looked like they had a coat of varnish or whatever they put on them for years and years. I thought, Wow, why would anybody pay that much money to live there? I couldn't understand if they don't want to keep it up and make it look nice, and then charge less. That would be acceptable, but the amount of money they charge, it's ridiculous. They had chairs scattered around in different areas where you could sit down in the hallways, and they looked really old and the fabric was not good. I don't think they did a bit of upkeep since 1980 or something, so I just wanted to put that out because everybody says it's great. Well, it's not great for the price. Furthermore, she took me into her office to give me some paperwork and talk about it. They had extra furniture stored in there stacked up. The lady that took me around was very nice.

Cottonwood Village seemed to be run very well. The receptionist was very helpful and some of the residents that we saw seemed very happy. They had get-togethers and a fine-looking dining. We looked at several two-bedroom apartments, and it seemed to be adequate, as far as footage. My husband and I used to live in a large house. So, we have a lot of things that we have to get rid of, but it seemed adequate for two people.
There's a library, a recreation center, and a van that would take you to the grocery store. You have to set up an appointment for doctors on certain days so they would drive you to the doctor's office if you're not able to drive. They also have walking machines in the exercise room. We didn't tour the outdoors, but we could see it when we drove in and it seems to be kept up fairly well. The facility was not top of the line but it's sufficient. We talked to three different people and they were all very, very well versed in what they were doing.
They give you three meals a day too, and the only drawback for me would be was the room we saw did not have a full kitchen. They did not have a stove there, only a refrigerator, so if you wanted to cook anything, you'd have to use a hot plate.

We toured Cottonwood Village. It was great, a lot of information, as a matter of fact, they were doing an activity, and the manager pulled herself out, gave us the time, and walked us to an available unit. We felt great about it and so very encouraged. It was a large room so it was very nice. They had a couple of different styles, it's just when we went to go there at that moment, that's the only unit available to show. There was a courtyard, they do gardening there, and she said they would utilize anything he brings to the table, and she showed us a calendar, they had activities going on every day it seemed. We couldn't ask for anything better.

We toured Cottonwood Village, but they have no vacancies. It was a nice facility, they have plenty of help, and people were very courteous. The rooms were basic, nice, and you can customize them yourself. It has a shower, a TV, and a closet for your clothes. They have various room sizes, and when we were there people were lining up for dinner. The staff was very professional and very helpful.

I'm in independent living at Cottonwood Village, but I need medication help and at times I need help showering. This is a very friendly community. The only problem I have with it is the average age there is 81 years old and I'm only 65, but the care, the food, everything is excellent. I live in a studio apartment. I have a two-burner stove, full size refrigerator and I have a standard bathroom, but it's all adjusted for people that have handicaps. It has extra bars and fall beeper. They have a library, patio, activities set from 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon, a walking group, exercises and stretching, and church service. The food is outstanding, but activities are set up for senior people and I'm not quite senior enough for them.

We put a deposit on an apartment in Cottonwood Village and my wife and I are going to be moving in shortly. It's very close to where we live right now and we have a lot of friends there. They have 2-bedrooms with pretty good-sized bedrooms, a living room, full kitchen, washer and dryer, and full baths. They serve two meals a day and offer all kinds of activities for senior citizens. The food is good. The place is very nice, clean, and immaculate, and it seems like there are a lot of people helping out.

Of all the places we looked up, Cottonwood Village was the least expensive. They had a bus that comes right to the door and takes you all over town. The pricing was very good and doable. If you have to go, this would be a good place. You can walk to the library, which is right within the same area, and there is the community center for the city with a workout center and a beautiful indoor and an outdoor pool. The place itself is not the large, but the facilities around it are very nice, and the hospital is right behind it, so you don't have a distance to go to anything. You can choose your own people to come in and take care of you if you want assisted living, or they can take care of you themselves. It is one of the most newly built. They are redoing the rooms right now and updating them, and the ones that I saw were updated and furnished.

I had a positive impression of Cottonwood Village. However, the rooms could be better and attention to detail was needed. The food was very good. The people were very kind, and the residents liked the service and the attitude of the staff. They were doing renovations, so it was a bit messy. They had a salon, a small library, an association with a gym, pool, exercise equipment, and a basketball court. The price was affordable for me.

Cottonwood Village had a good layout, was bright, and had fair apartments. The staff was good. The residents seemed quite satisfied.
