The tour I had with Village on the Park Rogers was very thorough. I was able to see a cottage in the independent living, as well as the assisted living area. The food was done very well. It's a relatively new facility and the marketing director did a great job. She was very well-informed, enthusiastic, and helpful. They had a workout room that's well equipped, gathering places for group puzzles, and movie nights and all were very, very good. The cottages were adequate. It's very well-organized and very resident-focused.

Our tour at Village on the Park Rogers was fine. However, the independent would be very difficult to manage when the weather is bad because they are separated. For someone to have to leave their cottages to come for meals and activities in inclement weather would be a drawback. The only thing inside the place to use all the amenities has to be assisted. That just wasn't going to work out for our needs for independent living. They have the same activities as other places.

My mother is a resident of Village on the Park Rogers, and we think it's wonderful. She's in a cottage that's 1,600 square feet, she can bring all her furniture and everything with her. So she's got her own little place, she has two meals provided, she has a housekeeper, a gardener, and all that included. So she's loving it. They don't really have activities planned for independent living. They offer food services. Right now the food isn't that great -- I just complained about it a couple of days ago -- but that's maybe a temporary thing. Their facilities are beautiful.

We visited Mt. Carmel Community - Rogers, and that's probably where my husband and I will go. We visited a couple of times. It's quite new and very nice, a little bit more luxurious than I planned on, but it's where the kids want us to go. They have cottages for independent living, and they have assisted living and dementia/Alzheimer's care, too. The cottages were very roomy, and it's probably about as big as my house. There were two bedrooms, office work space, a living room, and a dining/kitchen area that's pretty big, and it had a garage. The main bedroom was very big and the other room was a little bit smaller, but it's still good-sized. They had built-in appliances and they had amenities like a little theater, a library, a beauty shop, and programs and outings planned. The food was excellent. They had a menu and then a couple of choices. The staff I met were very caring, very friendly, and very helpful. I met the gal that does the sales. I couldn't walk out on my own, so one of the managers came and followed me out on my walker. They're very helpful and very good. It's the best I've seen of any of the places. It had big hallways, and it's easy to get around. It's near the hospital and also the main shopping center in Rogers. It's a good location.
