About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

These are wonderful people. I was the sole caregiver for my wife who passed recently from the complications of Alzheimers. We were able to keep her home and out of a nursing home. They made it all possible. I am eternally grateful to them.

The caregiver was very nice and communicated with me about each visit. My house was clean and my husband was happy and not stressed or tired.

I used Home Instead for nine months to help me with my husband, who has Alzheimer’s. After a shaky start with the first caregiver they sent, I was thrilled. My husband and the second caregiver hit it off. She was absolutely superb with him and I would highly recommend her. Great at redirecting, coaxing, walking him. I was able to get chores done and also have some respite time for myself. The billing was timely and always correct. Really seamless, all in all. The agency was always willing to work with me if I needed extra time or less time. That was appreciated.

Staff very caring and will bend over backwards to get you the best of care. My husband and I are both ambulatory but unable to keep up home - husband 90 and me 85 with multiple health problems and children that are unable to assist. Our current caregiver walks to mailbox with my husband and spends time visiting with him as I am busy with my home business office and unable to watch out for him all the time. And,of course, she does all household chores and meals that I am not able to keep up with.

We are using Home Instead for my parents. It's a great service. All of the caregivers are very helpful and very supportive. If there's somebody who can't make their shift they're quick to fill it so that we don't go without. We are very pleased. They do an excellent job, but there's room for improvement. The caregivers help with cooking, with personal assistance, and with exercises. My father uses a nebulizer so they help with that too. I'm very pleased. The hourly rate we pay is comparable to others. It is worth the value. They're very professional and very responsive. Any issues that have come up and any time a caregiver has a concern, they get a hold of me right away. They're very timely and very responsive.

I have been very appreciative of the caregiving services provided by Home Instead Senior Care. The office staff are kind, professional, and strive hard (and successfully) to meet our fluctuating needs for caregiving support for my mother (88). In addition, we have been very grateful for the wonderful support of the caregivers themselves. They are pleasant, always on time, and aim to offer whatever help is needed in the moment. We were also lucky start the process with one that was a good fit. This was so important in the beginning as my mother was quite resistent to start with. All in all, Home Instead has come through over and over again when we needed help!

was new to this entire process of finding care for my Stepfather and help for my Mother and it could have been a daunting task, but Home Instead made the experience both easy and informative. I feel fortunate to have found such a wonderful organization as Home Instead. Home Instead met with us, listened to what we thought we might need, offered suggestions we hadn't thought of and then they matched us with the perfect companion. She is far beyond our expectations. It is hard to find the words to express my thanks. I feel as if Colleen, Susi and Virginia have treated us like their own family.

Mom's Home Instead caregivers are wonderful, caring, considerate and competent. They have big hearts and strive to do a great job, every day. The office staff always do their best to accommodate if we have schedule changes. Home Instead allows us to keep mom at home which we really appreciate!

I work in a management position at a Senior Living Community that provides both Assisted Living and Retirement Living options. I have seen first-hand the quality of care that the Home Instead staff provide to their clients as an unbiased 3rd party observer. In a Senior Living setting, we often have residents who, for one reason or another, are living in an Independent Living setting, but would really benefit from having some part-time or even more full-time assistive services. It is a great feeling as a provider, to be able to refer with confidence to Home Instead, as I know that my residents needs will be met. Kelly is a consummate professional who is very passionate about her work and mission. Her knowledge base and skillset is perfectly matched to this type of business, which equates to competent, caring staff who are thoroughly trained and have the tools necessary to provide excellent care to their clients. Whether you are looking for a few hours a week of assistance for a loved one, or require 24 hr in home care, I would highly recommend Home Instead Senior Care.

Caregivers from Home Instead took care of my 92 year old mother in Olympia for 18 months. The in-home caregivers did an exceptional job of providing loving care to my mom. They made sure she ate well, participated in activities and stayed active. They took care of her little dog Mollie, who was very important to my mom. The caregivers became my mom's friends and loved hearing her stories about the old days. When she became sicker at the end of her life, they were very solicitous. They were like family to all of us, and we can never thank them enough.
The staff was also exceptional. Tracy was always cheerful and put up with my numerous requests for schedule changes. Heather fielded my calls professionally. Kelly and Collin also helped our family travel this path in a professional, caring manner.
I would not hesitate to recommend the services of Home Instead to any family that needs Senior Care.

I was very pleased with the professionalism of the staff at Home Instead. They had great follow through, never promised something they couldn't deliver and really went the extra mile to make sure my Mom felt cared for and had all her needs addressed. Couldn't be happier! They really helped out during a very stressful time and made the entire process feel comfortable.

I had the opportunity to care for my mom while on Hospice care for 6 months until her passing. If it were not for the wonderful support of the Home Instead staff - from the office to the caretakers - this would have not been possible. The staff was caring from the initial contact while I was arranging care. They were always responsive in trying to work with my schedule when I needed last minute help because my mom could not be left alone and I needed some flexibility while caring for her around my job and family obligations. The staff and caregivers were supportive in practical measures and went the extra to give emotional support as well. Overall, I had a great experience and would recommend the Olympia office to others.

The Home Instead team in Olympia cares for my family like their own. I am a doctor and have very high standards for care. Whether it is my own patients or my family, I expect the highest level of care. Home Instead continues to exceed my expectations by going above and beyond to ensure that their clients are honored, respected, and cared for.
Home Instead in Olympia currently provides care for my grandparents. My Grandfather has Alzheimer's disease and my Grandmother is his primary caregiver. Home Instead provides both of my grandparents with the support that they need as they navigate through this chapter of their life. The staff not only provide physical care but also wonderful emotional support for my grandparents.
The staff at Home Instead Olympia are highly trained to help my entire family understand how to deal with our new normal. The owners go above and beyond to ensure that caregivers are prepared to help us daily with whatever comes our way. My Grandmother recently referred to her caregiver as an "Angel. Jessica is a complete gift."
I really can't say enough positive remarks about my experience with Home Instead. I am so happy to have them caring for my family when I can't.

My mother is actually the person that Home Instead provides care for. I became aware of Home Instead when my wife and I attended a series of free classes about careing for the elderly. From the moment I called to make an appointment I felt this was a caring and professional service. They listened to my concerns and desires and did their best to satisfy our needs. The care providers coming to our home are extremely caring, talented and confident in their abilities. It is so hard to watch the aging process of our parents, but keeping them out of a care facility and home instead is the best decision we have made. Knowing that my parents are home safe, warm, comfortable and cared for, means everything to me.

The care provided by Home Instead professionals helped give our mother a quality of life in her last months that we could not have maintained on our own, Each care giver had their own special ways of working with her, not just meeting her daily needs but engaging her both mentally and physically, keeping her mind and body active. I don't think there's enough room here to say all I want to about Home Instead. They cared for my parents, not just seeing to their needs, but the caregivers were like family. My dad required skilled care, and my mother had issues with dementia, and all of the caregivers were superb. Our family could breathe a collective sigh of relief when they were at my parents' home, because we knew they were receiving excellent care. I highly recommend Home Instead. AND Ginny's cooking. :)

I have been utilizing Home Instead Senior Care for over a year now; the admin staff are great, they answer the phone any time day or night! They do a wonderful job at being consistent with the ladies they send me, and any time I have an issue (so far there's only been one) I know I can call Colin and he will figure out how to fix it right away. I would not be at home right now without them.

Home Instead Senior Care was definitely a help in the past months with my families little to no knowledge of how to care for my grandma. It boils down to the fact that money has been tight and their services were and still are the best that we can afford and then some. Yes there has been a few small problems that have arose here and their. With one of the nurses saying that we should take her on more walks, and my Mom telling her that she did not believe it was a good idea. Yet in recolection they are just doing what they are trained to do. Home Instead Senior Care helped my family get back on track with her health, and without them I don't know how the care of life my grandma is recieving would have been.
