About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Nidhi is our care coordinator and does a superior job of seeing that my mother is well taken care of. She always calls to let us know what is happening for the week and on on several occasions came herself to bathe mother and make sure she is cared for. She is the reason we stay with Home Instead. She truly cares.

Home Instead has provided care for my mother with Dementia. They have always sent caregivers who are punctual, attentive, and excited to be there helping with my mother. We generally end up sticking with the caregivers that are sent for long periods of time, because they are so good at finding caregivers who match my mother's personality. They are normally super down to earth, and fit my mother's emotional needs very well. Home Instead has always been responsive to our needs as a family, and have always willing to help us find a solution to any issues that may come up. Thank you Home Instead. You have helped to make a difficult situation more comforting.

This experience has been wonderful in a very difficult situation. My 99 year old Mother-in-Law came down with the flu the first week in January and was in need of full-time care to keep her safe and as comfortable as possible for the entire month. Everyone I was in contact with was caring, courteous and extremely helpful. During the height of the flu season, these caring people managed to fulfill our needs beautifully. I would recommend this company for it's effective and caring attitude by every one I dealt with. I would use this company again and again.

Office staff are very professional and responsive. Most caregivers have been conscientious and dependable. All are friendly and eager to help. I appreciate the flexibility in scheduling and commitment to keeping familiar faces with my memory-challenged mother.

It was almost impossible to find qualified non-emergency medical transportation in the Puget Sound area of Washington State. My situation involved an outpatient procedure requiring a dedicated care-giver to pick me up, transport me to the hospital, remain at the hospital during the procedure, and return me home (assisting on the way with picking up any follow-on prescriptions). I found an online review (from elsewhere in the country) that recommended Home Instead Senior Care for offering this type of service, and I was very fortunate to find them located in my area as well. They were very prompt, thorough, and efficient in getting me acquainted and established as a client. They even had service available to stay with me at my residence following the procedure in case I could not recover fully enough to immediately and independently care of myself. Home Instead Senior Care demonstrated exceptional dedication, service and responsibility up to and including the scheduled date of my appointment, for which I'm grateful and pleased, and will call on them again for similar needs in the future. Highly recommended.

We stopped using Home Instead. Their caregivers were late and they didn't clock hours correctly, so I ended up paying a lot more than I thought I was going to. They didn't feed my father the food I had set out and took him to a fast-food restaurant instead. It wasn't a good experience, I was not pleased with them. They didn't seem like they had a lot of training. The agency was quick to respond, and one of the caregivers was let go because of my reporting.

We had an urgent need for help and Home Instead did our evaluation and had a caregiver placed with us in less than 24 hours. The evaluation was thorough and practical, and the individual who helped us was terrific.

My father uses Home Instead's in-home services to help him remain independent in his own apartment. We have found the caregivers to be an amazing, caring and competent group. And if there is extra time in their visit, they look around for other tasks to do to help him out.
The administrative group is on top of things: they are organized and responsive, they communicate well with the family and they can anticipate needs that we haven't considered.
Our experience has been excellent.

Alert we had a caregiver who had not yet become licensed. They had no idea what the job duties curtailed. not a positive thing to do to an establishedI client. The young person was very slow to task and wandered wanting to break regularly. Didn't follow simple instructions. Can Companies do this? Send people they hire that have zero training. We are not happy campers.

I was very pleased with Home Instead Senior Care. The caregiver who was matched with my parent was thoughtful kind and aware of every need. I had peace of mind knowing my parent was in the hands of someone so considerate, understanding and professional. They were always on time and anticipated my parent's needs.Thumbs up all the way!

My mom had a personal caregiver from Home Instead Senior Care, and my mom was really really happy and it means a whole lot. And she got a regular attention. The people that had come over were really super! And the owner and manager of the company they came to us and talk to my mom and i thought it was really great! And they kept in touch and they've been caring about how we felt and they asked hows our feedback. They were really wonderful people. And I definitely recommend them because they are really good! I love their service!
