We are one of the few private duty organizations on the Peninsula that is licensed to provide a full array of services that includes Skilled Nursig. BrightStar helped us the most by arranging that she had constant care which she needed.
BrightStar was awesome. I liked that they were willing to work with me. The gentleman in charge was so kind and did his best to help Allison. When they didn't have anyone available they worked with me to find someone available. It was awesome.

They need to train the aides to help the client out more, instead of having the client wait to tell them what to do. I have had an aide for three months now, and she doesn't do anything unless I tell her to. She hasn't gotten into the routine.
The people do not show up a lot of the time. I called, and it took me three weeks to get an aide. They finally got me an aide, but when I called them, they would never call me back.

The Manager of this location had visited the facility that my mother was being discharged from home on hospice. Lauryn was professional from start to finish as we were unable to start using Brightstar's services as my mother passed away sooner than expected. She assured as that she would have someone promptly available when the discharge were to take place. I highly recommend calling and speaking with Lauryn she is not pushy and listens very well and attentively to the needs and wants of the family. I will be recommending her to anyone I come across looking in the homecare field spectrum. Thank you again, Lauryn for the positive experience. I only wish we had been able to use your services.

They should have finished what they started. One girl left a load of unfinished laundry in my washing machine, and because of my shoulder, I could not get it out. It was left there for a week.
There was a misunderstanding one day about the arrival or non-arrival of their people at the door. The person on the other end got belligerent, and I thought that was ridiculous.

I had a very difficult time with my long term care insurance because BrightStar Care does not have a license in Virginia. They should make sure they have a Viriginia license.

I wish they would have sent caregivers that were pretty good about keeping him dressed and clean, and changing his briefs, but I had issues with all of them wanting to sit around and talk to me rather than pay attention to him. We had one caregiver that got really bored and would sit on her phone in the other room a lot. A couple times, he started choking and she wasn't in the room to take care of it.
The people that they sent to me were all smokers, and they seemed to be outside having a cigarette break more than they were inside helping with the care. The cigarette butts became a big problem for my husband and me. One of the ladies that I had was really gruff and my husband with his Alzheimer's didn't understand and wouldn't respond to her because she was very demanding.

I like the flexibility, the temperament of their aides, and their conscientiousness. They look for things to do around the house, they don't wait to be told. They make sure she's eating properly, taking her medications, and that she's safe in the home.
