About This Community
Visiting Angels of the Northern Neck & Middle Peninsula offers respite care to families caring for a loved one or children of parents that live in the area.
Our well trained caregivers provide nonmedical personal care with a customized care plan just for y our loved one. It may include services like medication reminders, meal prep, housework, pet care, bathing assistance, toileting assistance, driving your loved one to a doctor appointment or outing.
With training in dementia care, COPD and palliative care, s, we partner well with palliative or hospice agencies when needed.
Despite being in a rural community, we are are a large and well established company--this independently owned location has been around 14 years in the franchise that has operated for 27.

She does a very good job and is a hard worker.
I think they are doing fine. My only objection is that my angel smokes, not in my house, but I can smell the smoke on her clothes.

It's the first agency we've dealt with. Our caretaker, Donnie, has been very personal, and after a couple of weeks it wasn't like a stranger was walking in, it was a friend.
I like that they are very responsive and professional and if something is going wrong, I always have a notice. We moved out of town, and I will be able to contact a Visiting Angels office.

VA provided in home care for my Mother. We used VA for about 7 months. Started out full care 24 hours a day, then reduced as Mom got better. Staff was very good about meeting our needs with changing hours. Always available for phone calls and emails. Being able to login to the daily schedule, tasks list, and the caregivers daily log was great. I could get online and see how Mom was doing.

The client is bound to a chair so the caregivers pretty much do all the activities of daily living for her such as helping her get dressed and helping her shower, which is really important to her.
I like that they're very responsive. The few people that have been helping the client have been really great to do pretty much whatever we need. There are no issues at all.

They reassigned different caregivers and have stayed in touch.
We didn't have a really positive experience in the beginning, but the owners have improved things a whole lot.
I would like all of the caregivers to be more consistent.

I've been using Visiting Angels for 30 days or longer now. I think the service is superior to what I experienced with another time that I had people in the house. It was a little bumpy getting started, but they seemed to place people that are caring and knowledgeable. Frankly, I'm satisfied. They offer a mixture of things. They will come in and fix breakfast for you and see if you've got your meds. They don't give them to you, but they will remind you. There's a list of things that they do that is very helpful to somebody my age and condition. I use them five days a week. Most of the time, scheduling is very good. They've been a little bumpy on Saturdays and Sundays, but they've managed the last two Saturdays and Sundays. The caregiver is very nice.

At the moment, I like the person we have from Visiting Angels. She's terrific, very knowledgeable, and very kind. She's just great with my husband. She takes care of whatever he needs. Even if he gets upset, which he does because he can't do anything that he used to do anymore and he lashes out at all of us, she's very kind with him. She talks softly. She's great. I'm just very pleased with her. She comes five days a week, Mondays through Fridays. She's here from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. He's mostly in a wheelchair, and she helps with toileting, showering, transferring, and fixing his food. Billing and scheduling are fine. Sometimes when the current caregiver has a doctor's appointment or something and they have to send someone else, they don't always have somebody they can send. I know they're having a hard time trying to find caregivers for all the people who are needing it now, but it hadn't really been a problem. I'm very pleased with them.

I'm a client of Visiting Angels. I like most their agreeability and their attention given to my needs. They're just here in case I need something, if something were to develop, or if I needed some assistance because I'm walking around. I'm not confined to a wheelchair or anything like that. I use them five days a week.

They made my life easier by being here for me. I am not helpless and able to do a lot for myself but they are here in case I struggle. I am 92 and have had vertigo.
I would recommend them to others because they are reliable and they are doing well. They would have to be able to afford Visiting Angels though.

They were here to help him cook and clean the house. They helped with the things he wasn't able to do himself.
I liked that they were really flexible. When he first got home they were here 24/7 and as he got back, they adjusted to his needs.

They have been sympathetic to the needs of Josephine. Mom is happy, and that's the ultimate objective. There are always things to talk about, but we do that.
We've had good feelings about Visiting Angels. They have been responsive to schedule changes.

Sometimes have 3 people a week and then they don't come back. I have to tell a new person every time what to do.
I don't think they have enough caretakers. They should train the substitutes.

We have care for my wife’s family in Maryland and so we were experienced a little when we were looking for a home care agency for my mom in Gloucester. this company has been the best of the 3 we have experience with. They are more reliable and it has made our lives so much easier to know moms care is taken care of. Office staff have been real nice and they always call me back if i have leave a voicemail. until you deal with an agency that doesn’t, you don’t realize how well staffed this Visiting Angels is.

She is very knowledgeable and she is able to coincide with any needs that my mother may need. They get along with her, too. It helps us out tremendously with her being here. It relieves stress for us to have someone here to take care of her during the day.

The caregiver that I have right now is wonderful. They do everything for my husband and will even go a step beyond. The services are a real, real, blessing. I couldn't take care of my husband, and it now allows me to get out and shop.

When we talk to the personnel there, they're very kind. They were patient with us when we were doing the paperwork. It's not absolutely necessary at the moment, but when it was necessary, it was great. My mom has some dementia, so we needed someone in the house to be readily available if something happened.

We're very impressed with the caregiver; she seems well trained, and she fits in like family. We've been caring for my mother for about 8 years and I don't have time to get things done that I want to do, and I'm comfortable with the caregiver. I'm able to go out and not worry because my mother is in good hands.

They do what my loved one requires. They come in and they do housework and fix meals. They look after her. They do things that I don't have to do. They take care of my loved one. It frees me up to whatever I want to do. Before the Angels came on the scene, I was the caregiver for her.
