About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Home Instead was there to help with my mom when she needed it. The caregivers assisted with meals and medication.

The office staff in culpeper is so great!! Every time i call They always ask me how I’m doing & how is everything going with my clients. They are a great group of women. I would Have to say if Addell, Jessica or Cara ever left the home instead office it would never be the same they work so well together & always make sure the office is running great!

I would like to share that Home Instead Senior Care of Culpeper, VA did a remarkable job caring for my mother so she could remain in her home until she passed, which was her wish. The caregivers were very caring, dependable, knowledgeable, available, willing to learn, and kept me informed of her care. The office staff responded to my numerous calls with questions, concerns, and updates, both during office hours and after hours. I would truly recommend their care and hope that others can have the positive experience with the care of my mother as I did.

Our 2nd experience with Home Instead has been a disappointment. They are obviously taking more cases than they have help. We had 7 day help for the past month and 1/2 that was excellent, particularly the most recent girl, a CNA, who was sent to us for a 7 day work week, 4 hours per day. She has been sent to another client and no one showed up today, a holiday!! Although the office called to be certain we were willing to pay time & 1/2 for the holiday. We were given no notice that no one was scheduled to come, so today I have no help after a 20 hr. day yesterday and now a 24 hr. day today. One f their excuses, among many, was they don't want to "burn out" their helpers. However, their is obviously no concern for the main caregiver who happens to be handicapped but doing 20 hours daily 24/7 and 24 hours daily for 13 years! DO NOT RELY ON HOME INSTEAD FOR CARE!
