About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Elizabeth has been with me for several months. She has gone beyond what I anticipated in the program, both on an emotional level and a cleaning level. She is a very kind and caring person. Also, I have given tours to my family showing them how nice the house looks. It is an honor to have Elizabeth working with me.

This agency has been a lifesaver, Joanne was our contact and she was able to provide care for our father promptly. The care givers are professional, the organization is extremely well run and they do everything possible to provide continuous care while keeping you informed.

Our experience with Home Instead Senior Care has been good. We're using them for about a month now. I use one regularly at night, and she takes my husband to the bathroom because he can't walk. The ones in the day basically do the same thing. Bathroom duty is the main thing, and every now and then they'll do lunch. The caregivers have been good, friendly, and professional. Scheduling is good. They usually call me with who's coming, and they've never not filled a slot when I've asked them to. I would recommend them.

Annie D., the primary caregiver that Winchester Home Instead selected for Mom is fabulous...and a perfect match! Not only is Mom safer with the added layer of guidance and supervision, she is also happier. She looks forward to visits from "her Annie" and genuinely enjoys Annie's companionship. I could not be more pleased with the services from Home Instead. From my first call to Home Instead, I felt very confident about the help that Mom would be receiving. Every staffer at every level of the Winchester office has been a delight to coordinate Mom's care with, and the peace of mind provided is priceless. I am a very experienced Registered Nurse so I have rather high standards for patient care. Home Instead came highly recommended to me from my many peers in the Winchester medical community, and has consistently exceeded my expectations. I am very appreciative of their support, and hope to be able to keep Mom in the comfort of her own home - as she so dearly wishes - for the rest of her life.
