About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Home Instead provides in-home care for my 90 year old father. He cannot take care of himself without assistance, the agency makes sure he is up, clean and dressed and that his medications are taken in the morning and evening, They prepare his meals, keep the house clean and orderly, do his grocery shopping and bring him to his doctor appointments. They have provided a tablet that allows the family to make video calls with him and this is now the only device that he answers and uses. The staff is timely, communications are great and they are responsive to my requests. Been using for three years now and I highly recommend their services.

we really appreciate the high quality of service that mom receives while we are at work. We feel that moms well being is promoted with the daily interaction with caregivers, gives her a chance to visit with someone outside of the family. Home Instead is outstanding as a complete team, the office staff is always so helpful. Shae and Kathy are true angels, we feel fortunate that mom has them as her friends and caregivers. Home Instead is such an excellent choice over a retirement center, I have no doubt that we have made the best choices for moms care.

It's a bright moment when my caregiver arrives. Not only do I look forward to seeing her, my dogs sit by the front door waiting for her. She encourages me in my recovery from surgery and points out ways I am getting stronger. She's professional, shows initiative and is willing to do anything I need help with. I don't have family here and feel like my Home Instead caregiver is family, and the office, too. I don't remember as well as I used to and they keep track of my appointments and reminds me to take my medications. When Home Instead says they're going to do something they do it. I can trust them.

I have been with Home Instead Senior Care almost a year and it's made a difference in my life. My caregiver has become my friend. She provides companionship, light housekeeping and laundry assistance, making it easier for me to stay in my home. She takes me grocery shopping, to doctor appointments and takes me other places. I hurt my lower back. Instead of getting better, I got worse. I live alone and my family urged me to get help. A friend was using Home Instead Senior Care. We called them. They helped me with house duties, meal prep, transportation and companionship. I wish I had contacted them a couple of weeks earlier! I am doing much better and getting around on my own. Caring for my aging parents was going to be, and is, difficult. There is no way around it. But there are better choices to be made when we have to go through it. Home Instead has proven time and again that it was the right choice for my parents. HI is more customer/client oriented and so very well-managed, that it does make a difference in my workload. I have tried a couple of other home care companies. They presented more problems than solutions. We're very pleased with Home Instead!!

I was in rehab and wanted to go home because I would be more content recuperating in my own home. I knew I would need someone who could help me with light housekeeping, laundry, cooking, errands and taking me to doctor appointments. Since I wasn't fully recovered, my daughter had heard good things about Home Instead Senior Care from someone in Fort Worth and was pleased to discover there was once in the Waco area.
I've been with Home Instead since March 2017 and couldn't be happier. I consider my caregiver to be a gift from God and she couldn't be any better; we are very compatible! I highly recommend Home Instead Senior Care to anyone who wants to stay in their own home and receive excellent care.

My mom has had caregivers in the past from other sources who weren't reliable and didn't provide good service. When mom found Home Instead Senior Care two and half years ago all that changed. She loves Home Instead; says her caregiver is like another daughter! Their service is great and they are dependable. People have told us they know caregivers who would be less expensive, but I told them we tried that in the past and learned you get what you pay for. Home Instead Senior Care provides good value and takes great care of my mom.

Dorothy, my caregiver, is really kind and friendly. She helps me with my home and pets. She takes me to grocery shopping, to doctor's appointments and the dog park so Pookie can run. I don't know what I will do without Dorothy.

We used another well-known agency in the past and now that we have been using Home Instead we will not use any other agency. One difference we found is that Home Instead caregivers care about how they look when they come to help us and are clean and well groomed. They are very kind and helpful and are like family to us.

My caregiver is so wonderful! She is good about communicating and she really cares. She really spoils me. She looks for things that need to be taken care of and just gets them done. If I am feeling a little depressed, she is great about cheering me up. She is very good-hearted and stands out like a star! She is really my stability. It has been a perfect match. We feel very fortunate to have Home Instead supplementing their care with what my mother is receiving at her independent living apartment complex. My mother says, "I really look forward to my caregiver's coming. She has my heart. She is more like my friend. I don't ever want to loose her and if I did, I wouldn't want to stay without her." Home Instead is keeping her happy and active, which are the most important to us.

Everyone from Home Instead has always been nice, accomodating, and helpful. I really enjoy my caregiver a lot and really look forward to her coming. Our caregiver is such a wonderful fit. Using Home Instead has been a wonderful experience all the way around. All our caregivers have been professional but very personable. We all really have enjoyed listening to one of our caregivers and my dad always cutting up and bantering with each other. It was very special to both my Mom and dad when she was with them when he passed away recently. Another one of our caregivers we would adapt if we could. The office always keeps everything running so smoothly. Home Instead has allowed my parents to remain at home. Which we are all thankful for! We highly recommend them!

Our caregivers have all been so very encouraging, supportive, patient and all around good. We really appreciate their communication not only with their office, but also with each other which has been so very helpful for continuity of care! They have even been great about asking the therapists questions and learning how to best help with exercises the rest of the week. The office staff is easy to work with too. All our caregivers have been so very good, even the few times we have had a fill in. They have all been so very congenial and willing to please. The office staff is great about communicating as well. Home Instead is perfect! We love how the caregivers take charge when they need to and let my dad be as independent as he can be at others when appropriate. It is a wonderful balance. We would recommend Home Instead to anyone and everyone! All the caregivers we have ever met have exhibited the utmost professionalism and empathy. Our regular caregiver is very responsible and tuned in to my mom. She picks up on everything, no matter how small. The transportation our caregiver provides is invaluable. Even though I am not yet considered a senior, I have had some health situations arise to where I would not be able to stay at home without help. Home Instead has been a miracle and a life saver for me and my family. My caregiver is very hard working. She is always looking for things to do. She has become a great source of friendship for me. Home Instead is terrific! They allow me to keep my independence while simply offering assistance. I feel like I can bring up anything with my caregiver. She is very polite has a pleasant personality and is always looking for things to do. I appreciate her sense of humor and we tease each other a lot. Our caregiver is awesome. My dad really looks forward to her coming. In fact, knowing she's coming helps to get him out of bed in the mornings. My dad says she is just like a family and fits in so well. Everything about our experience has been "spot on"! We would most definitely recommend them.
