About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Due to my husband’s mobility issues, I was placed in a position of needing to be at home 24/7 to assist with movement and personal care. Home Instead has provided me with the ability to take care of having business, family, and personal time, with no worries about his care and safety. Providing both company and assistance to him, the aides have released me from the stress of being a full time caregiver, allowing me to breathe again.

The caregiver for my mother is self motivated - helping my mom and dad in areas where she sees a need. It is nice that she does not wait to be asked to do something, but rather jumps in to clean, provide companionship, or offer to go to the store or take one of them to the store, etc. The office staff is very friendly. They are prompt to answer the phone. I always have talked to a person versus a recording. I feel like a "neighborhood known" customer, versus a number. They have followed up on questions that I have asked regarding my mother's long term care policy. They have also initiated calls and research on their end regarding my mother's long term care policy; therefore, I feel as though I am navigating these water with an advocate. They have provided thorough and timely updates regarding change in our caregiver's schedule due to weather, illness, etc.

I want to express my deep appreciation for Home Instead Senior Care for the care provided for my brother during his last days. In these days where it's rare to find good customer service, Home Instead's customer service was unparalleled, all the way from management, to the onsite caregivers. Great communication was a daily occurrence, as well as a sincere concern for our family's needs, which continued even after the passing of my brother. I would highly recommend Home Instead Senior Care when a family faces those difficult times of needing quality care for a sick loved one.

Home Instead has helped me several times when I was in a situation that I needed assistance with my Mom. The last time, I needed immediate assistance and they provided me with very professional and caring service. My Mom needed a sitter as she was in quarantine while living in an assisted living facility. She has dementia and was restricted to her apartment. Home Instead provided 24 hour support and guidance for her during her time of need. I strongly recommend them if assistance is needed.

My wife and I could not be more satisfied with the service we receive from Home Instead Senior Care. We recently moved my elderly mother into our home and utilize Home Instead Senior Care three days a week to help give us a break from her care, allowing us to get to town, shop, etc. The caregiver is professional yet friendly and fills a companionship need for my mother. She is conversational, shows genuine interest in my mother and carries out her duties very well. She is not overbearing, very punctual and has a manner that makes my mother feel valuable. The dollars we spend to have Home Instead Senior Care are a great investment in the well being of my mother.

When my parents decided they could no longer drive a car, I had to find a place that could help them with transportation and help them with some of their chores. My parents have used Home Instead Senior Care now for over a year. HISC matched them up with Ms. Kathie and they just adore her. Ms Kathie has been such a blessing to them. She goes beyond her duties to take such good care of my parents. We are so blessed and grateful to have Ms Katie taking care of my parents. They just love Ms Kathie! I can't say enough about how awesome this experience has been for them.

Home Instead provided 24/7 care while our family member lived in our home for 6 months. Our family member started out confined to bed on hospice care and ended up moving to an assisted living facility walking on a walker. The Home Instead caregivers were wonderful and helped in so many ways! Not only did they help with basic daily tasks, they helped with encouraging exercise, they provided companionship, and even helped assist her with her favorite hobby, sewing. They also helped keep the house clean and orderly and even helped with cooking for the family when needed. These 7 caregivers, Cynthia, Sheila, Linda, Chantilly, Debbie, Johnnie, and Melanie, became part of our family and we will always be grateful! They are caring, hard-working, compassionate and take their job very seriously. They pretty much did anything we asked of them. In addition, Home Instead administrators were wonderful to work with and did a fantastic job keeping us covered when caregivers were sick, etc. Robin W., our Case Manager, worked with us to give us the best caregivers to fit our needs and consistently checked on our situation to make sure all was going well. We would highly recommend Home Instead and will call them again if a need arises in the future.

Home Instead provides 24/7 care for my sister who has Stage IV liver cancer. The care givers, cook, clean up, watch her like a hawk, but not too close, do laundry and fold it and put it away. They are up in a second when she starts with her walker and give her privacy in the bathroom, but are never more than a step away. She is helped to shower and dress if needed.
The women are all good cooks and funny and smart and all around great people.
Everyone has been on time which is difficult since she lives more than 30 miles from Sherman.
I have no complaints about any of the care givers or Home Instead. It has done an excellent job in finding the right people for her home.

Home Instead Senior Care has not only enhanced the life of my loved one they have extended her life. She would have most certainly had to move to a facility without the attentive care of Home Instead and the excellent group of caregivers that take care of her. They are always looking for ways to better serve our family and in contact with us anytime there is anything we need to know. It doesn't get better than Home Instead Senior Care in Sherman, TX.

When I made my initial inquiry I was treated with kindness and respect. All of my questions were thoroughly and patiently answered. If I need a schedule adjustment I'm accommodated immediately.

We used Home Instead on a weekly basis to give me some time off after being a sole caretaker for a few years. The home health aide was very attentive and pleasant to my husband. She was always on time, and the home office made sure we had the help we needed when she had a day off. Billing and payment was simplified for us. We were able to call and have our questions answered. Overall they seemed to try to make this as easy as possible for us. We only stopped using them when my husband went into a nursing facility. I would definitely recommend them.

Suzie has been a true blessing for us. My mom is in her mid-80s, living in a very convenient senior citizen apartment. She is independent and just as sharp as ever. Hoewver, she has serious mobility issues that keep her from being able to clean the apartment, make meals, do her laundry, change the sheets on her bed, bathe herself, and get in the car to run errands like going to the pharmacy or grocery store. Vicki and the other care providers have been able to help my mom with all of these things. For the longest time (a couple years), my mom resisting having "Home Instead" helpers come to the house. She needed these services for at least 2 years, but she wouldn't consider having someone in her home. I'm not sure what she was afraid of, but after just one visit from Suzie, my mom was hooked. She saw how helpful Suzie was, from the very first day, and she is so happy to know she can rely on Home Instead. In addition, the Home Instead office staff have been great about keeping me informed about how my mom is doing. Thank you so much.

I have been using Home Instead - Sherman, Texas for about 3 years for my wife who has Parkinson's Disease. This has been an excellent organization in meeting the needs we have experienced.

Excellent care. Rita and Vickie care for my mom 7 days a week. They are very caring and patient with her. I would highly recommend Home Instead. Great office support too!
