Gentiva Personal Care, formerly Kindred at Home, provides personal home care assistance to families throughout Pleasant Hill and surrounding cities in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. We assist people who struggle with prolonged illness, recovery from surgery, physical or developmental disabilities or simply the challenges of aging. We also coordinate medical, personal, and social service resources, and have built a strong reputation for dedication to the highest standards of compassionate, attentive in-home care.
Our services include assistance with activities of daily living such as personal care, transportation, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and medication reminders. Extra measures are taken to match the most appropriate caregiver to the client, based not only on skill level but personality, as well. All of our caregivers are employees and are bonded and insured. We thoroughly review everyone's background, conduct ongoing training, and do supervisory visits to maintain the highest quality, professional home care.
If pain or symptom management through palliative care, or end-of-life care is needed, we coordinate care with our palliative and hospice divisions that provide care to patients in their residences. Our nurses, aides, therapists, and spiritual advisors coordinate care to meet the medical and emotional needs of patients and treat individuals with acute, long-term and terminal conditions. My father-in-law has been using Kindred at Home for close to two years now. They're dependable. I like their integrity. They just do a good job. We use them seven days a week. They provide companionship, and they help with light housekeeping, personal care, and cooking. We tell them what we need and they do it. The billing system works fine. We have no problems.

Our helper works for Kindred at Home. My husband has been using them for two years now. The caregiver comes in six days a week. She's very competent and knows a lot about stuff. She fell in love with us, and she just gives us the best care we could have. In fact, she calls me "mima." She helps with the housecleaning, she runs errands, and she takes care of my husband's vitals and stuff. She does everything we need and she's right there if we need to call her afterwards. She comes from 2:00 to 7:00 during the week and then 2:00 to 5:00 on Saturdays.

I have been using Kindred at Home Personal Home Care Assistance for six weeks now. They help me out quite a bit, they clean the house, they do the dishes, and they take out the trash, things that I can't do. They do pretty much whatever I need, like if I order stuff from the grocery store, they'll go pick it up and bring it to me because I don't drive. My caregiver is a female and we like her. She is honest, and that's the main thing. We had a care service before Kindred, and then we finally let them go because they couldn't keep help. We went with Kindred and we hadn't had any problems. They show up on time and do what's necessary. I would recommend them.

Kindred at Home have only been taking care of mom probably for a couple of months now, but Mom's husband has since passed away in 2018 of Alzheimer's and they took care of him probably for two, maybe three years, so I have used Kindred at Home for many years. They are probably some of the most caring people I've ever worked with. It is a God-calling for these people that work there, and it is just not a job. They actually care about their patients, and they care about me. They're considerate, compassionate, and loving, and that's why I use them again with my mom. They're all just a wonderful group of people.
I have someone that comes out and sit with Mom during the day and I have someone that stays with her at night. With Morris, I had someone who came out and just sat with him for several hours through the day, and they bathed him. With Mom, they come in in the mornings, they will give her medications, and they will give her meals. I even have some of them who will cook on the weekend for her. They sit with her, they watch TV with her, and they help her get up and walk around because she can't walk by herself, she is on walker. They help her get to the bathroom. Then I go over there at night, and they help her get in bed. The person who stays with her overnight will get her up if she has to go to the bathroom and get her back in the bed. Then they get her up in the morning. I have someone now they have started helping me give her bath. They clean, and the kitchen is always immaculate, but the care and love that they show my Mom outweighs everything else that they do. I have been very happy with them.

I have Kindred at Home for myself. The caregiver cooks my breakfast if I want her to. I like for somebody to be available when I'm showering. She also vacuums and cleans the floors. I just started using them about three or four weeks ago. I have a really nice lady that comes to stay with me. She is really nice and kind. She will do anything I ask her to do. She is always on time.

Kindred at Home is excellent. I have been using them for about a month now. I have no problem at all. They provide nursing and home care and soon-to-be physical therapy. They also provide light housework. The caregiver also cooks for me. She is excellent. She is compassionate, friendly, and entertaining. They're excellent.

I have been using Kindred at Home for quite awhile now. Well, I can stand for a period of time, but I can't bend, I can't sweep, I can't stand to do dishes, I can't walk very far, and I'm not supposed to pick up anything heavier than a gallon of milk. Kindred at Home helps me out a lot, all the way around. I have no problems with the caregivers. I'm very comfortable with them. I have utmost respect for them. I would definitely recommend them. You can't do any better as far as I'm concerned; I'm staying with them.

I used Kindred at Home for three months. I no longer have them because my mom was put on hospice. They were helping both the personal side, meals, cleaning, and errands, and then also on the nursing side. The caregivers were very responsible and caring. They kept me informed. I would tell others that they're caring and attentive, they keep me up-to-date with any changes or anything, and they're very responsible.

I have been using Kindred at Home for a couple of weeks now for my mother. The caregivers are great. They are helping her get dressed, with putting dentures in, with sponge baths, and with transferring. My mother uses a walker all the time so they are helping make sure that she is in the right place and turn the right way. They also help with preparing small meals and warming up meals that we have prepared, with light housekeeping and with keeping all of her clothes and bedding clean. My mother is 100% comfortable with them. I have just started them during the pandemic, so everything has been on the phone, and they have been super nice, helpful, and informative. They get right back with me. There is always somebody who answers the phone. I have been very impressed with the information and with their kindness. I like everything about them.

It will be 3 years now that we're using Kindred at Home for my mom. They come in and do her shower, they help her get dressed, and they do light housekeeping like dust the room and sweep the floor. Also when we went out of town, they came in overnight. We are very comfortable with them, and if we weren't, I would let them know. The caregivers do come and go, but overall, they're very good. I would have everything written down for most of them, and if something needs to be done, we would let them know, and they're always willing to do that.

I've been using Kindred at Home for my friend since 2011. It has been good. The caregivers have been very good. They go in and they help her eat. My friend has to have 2 to 3 caregivers to help her transfer. They call and make sure that the nurses come in and help her eat. They wash her clothes and they're there to keep her company. They make sure she has everything she needs. They let us know if there is anything needed. I can call or text them and they respond immediately. If I need a caretaker to stay longer or for another day, they respond immediately. I have been very pleased.

I have been using Kindred at Home since March. They provide several services. We have a lady who comes in and fixes up breakfast and does our laundry. They're very nice and very capable. Billing and scheduling are OK. They're nice to work with.
