We use Home Instead during the day, but I hired them originally to begin with when my mom came home from the nursing home after therapy and they did not want their staff to get hurt at night. They stopped my night service, so I only have them during the day. They're good. We have them seven days a week. Overall, they're nice caregivers and helpful. We just need someone during the day (my mother's independent still at 87) to make sure that they keep her active, she does her exercises, make sure she gets her medication on time, she eats, and if they see something go wrong, notify us right away, which they have. There were caregivers that experienced a couple issues and they had contacted 911. My mother can't be left alone at all. Everyone's having a hard time hiring people and the thing is, we would like to see less people come. We like a steady person, but again I know it's hard. They're with them eight hours a day, and they can't go anywhere. Instead of two or three people in one day, I'd like them to just send one person. Most of the time, they do, but sometimes they have to split shifts. When somebody calls off, there's not always someone there that they can get, so we have to take time off from work and fill in at the last minute. That's how short staffed companies are and it's everywhere.

The caregivers are very prompt. The schedulers are very careful to call me before there are any coverage issues.

Personal care is provided for my Family Member. My mother is given her medication, provided meals, assisted in getting up and down from the chair and assisted to the restroom. The Staff does most of the time arrive on time, at times they are late or do not show up for personal reasons. The family interacts with the Staff, we try to get to know who they are and make it comfortable for everyone. The Agency is doing better with requests, and letting us know when there is no one available to fill in. Everyone is nice and helpful as much as possible, it isn't easy especially now with COVID still lingering and people not getting vaccines.

I can't put a price tag on peace of mind, and I have that when I walk out the door and our Home Instead care giver Nicole is there with my Mom.
