If I could give them six stars I would. I haired Home Instead a little over a year ago to help with the care of my sister who has early onset alzheimer's and they have been nothing short of phenomenal with the care of my sister. About a year ago my sister was prescribed memory meds that were remarkable in bringing my sister back to a little bit of normality, if even briefly. At this point the memory meds have stopped being effective, as expected after about a year. Even though the memory meds have stopped working my sister has not relapsed into the confused, agitated and sometimes angry state she was in a year ago and she is happy. The biggest reason why my sister is in a much better state now than a year ago is because of Home Instead and the care, help and companionship Home Instead provides.
In January of this year I went back to Maui, where I lived for a long time, for a two week vacation. I was worried about how everything with my sister would go without me nearby. Home Instead stepped up and did a remarkable job and I didn't have to worry about anything. Shortly after returning to the Portland area we went into COVID restrictions and a lockdown. Again Home Instead was right there taking care.
I can not say enough about the service, care and attention that Home Instead provides. My sister does not want to go into assisted living and Home Instead has made that possible. I think this is especially important at this time because of COVID-19. Home Instead taking over the care of my sister has allowed me to return to some sense of normalcy in my life.
Working with Lisa, Laken, Dianne, Nicole and all the others has been great. They are constantly on it, paying attention to every detail, they care and it shows in the state my sister is in. Home Instead has great communication, beyond what your would expect, to a fault, which is good.

I chose home instead because I know families that have used them and been satisfied. As a general rule I think they would be fine.
But, I would not recomend them for hospice care. They took care of my family member for 3 months. At first it was just 4 hrs a day and our family did the other 20 hrs. As time went on we had more hrs that they helped, so we could go home and sleep a few days a week. The first 5 weeks everything was fine. We consistently had the same care giver, and he was very responsible and caring. After he was not with home instead any more, we never again had the same care giver on a consistent basis. When you are on hospice it's because you are dying.Medication and care changes daily as you are deteriorating. Every time we got a new caregiver, ( which was often), they didn't really know what they were supposed to do for a dying patient. Often times we had 2-3 different care givers in one week. As we approached the end of life, it got pretty scary for us. We were afraid of mistakes being made that would be harmful to him. ( Not intentionaly of course, but because of not being familiar with a dying persons needs, and just from not knowing the patient.)
There was 1 incident were a substitute for another care giver, made some serious medication and feeding mistakes about a week before death.
I can say from experience ,This Home Instead is not properly staffed to care for a dying patient. We had only one care giver that had any privious experience with hospice patients. She was there about 5 different times for an overnight shift. She did well because she had some experience and she was compashionate.

Staff arrived on time at every shift. They would ask me specific what I needed them to do for my mom: bathroom, getting ready for bed, dressing, listening to what mom wanting them to do, fixing meal, washing dishes, sweeping the floor, making the bed, starting the laundry, folding the clothes, waking mom up, massaging her legs and arms, help with bathing, help with changing, and caregivers gave instructions how to turn her over. They were all very respectful, eager to do more, always concerned about her well being. Gentle, kind, and caring.

I have somebody part-time from Home Instead Senior Care. I'm okay with what I have right now. The caregiver does a really good job. My husband's pretty much all disabled, so they help with feeding, getting him up and down, changing clothes, bathing, and personal care things.

We were so impressed with Home Instead's 1st choice for a caregiver with our loved one with Lewy body dementia. His face lights up every time she is around. I love these guys for picking such a perfect person to spend time with our loved one! Little hint: Tell your initial case worker even the most minute details so they can try to get the best fit for your loved ones.

My experience with Home Instead has always been positive with so many caregivers I've had going on 5 years. All of us have different needs. I'm not able to physically clean like I used to or go on errands. I am always grateful to have whoever is scheduled, seeing to it that everything is taken care of. The whole team at Home Instead really does go out of their way to personally help in any way they can. They arranged a few times to help fix something when I had no one else to do it. If anyone out there requires care for physical in various situation, give Home Instead a try. You'll be glad you did!

A few years ago, my mom developed severe arthritis in her knees and started to struggle with things like cooking, cleaning, and household chores. But, she wanted to stay in her home. So, we hired Home Instead and they did an incredible job. Their staff always treated her with respect as well as compassion. Their caregivers became her friends. They truly care about helping people!

I cannot speak highly enough about this agency; they are lovely. The care I have gotten is fabulous. I'm very pleased and I have been taken care of. I have been given help with walking, which is my primary concern, and initially I was taken care of physically. The care I continue to receive is light housekeeping and anything I have questions about is very easily and well answered.

Home Instead can supply caregivers 24/7. They are careful to find the best fit for your loved one, and are understanding and flexible if the “fit” isn’t right. Caregivers are honest and trustworthy. Home Instead takes care to see that their caregivers are fully trained for the clients’ needs.

Home Instead has a team of people that really seem to care about your needs and are very willing to work with you on concerns. They work hard to make sure a caregiver is always available. I feel more relaxed knowing they provide excellent care.

I am having very good experiences with Home Instead, they are very attentive to our needs, my husband has parkinsons disease & needs assistance & companionship, mainly to make sure he doesn't fall or hurt himself, they feed him meals, help with our pets, have taken him to the Dr. and even small things around the house! when there was billing misunderstanding, they resolved it immediately. I really am happy with the service. Vicki

All the personnel at Home Instead have been very helpful. We especially like the managers we have met, Todd and Danielle. Our helper, Amber H., has made our life so much easier. Amber is always happy and solves our problems.

I am using Home Instead. The caregivers come in the morning and in the evening to help me in and out of the bed. They help me do the laundry and anything else that I decide I need. I have been using them for three weeks. I have multiple caregivers, and each one of them is willing to do anything. None of them have idle time. They always want to do something. They are very careful with what they do, and they go extra miles for me. I am well-adjusted with them. I chose it because the girl that comes out to talk to me about it is very thorough in what they can and can’t do.

I’m using Home Instead a couple of days a week. For one thing, I liked the social worker that came out and talked to me. I was in rehab, and she followed up with a call and came out the day I came home. They mostly just help me with my house and cooking, shopping, and taking me to the doctor because I had home health coming in until last week. I like my caregiver a lot. We’re very compatible, and she’s not pushy or anything. She usually just asks what I want to have done and does it. The scheduling had been good.
