About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

We used Home Instead-Beaverton, OR for three months. We had several people from them. They helped my father with showering, assisting him with his daily needs, and light housekeeping for my mother. They're just very challenged to have enough staff. You don't get those good people to come back every day. So, you never know who you're going to get. Also, they don't train their staff very well. They need to screen their people for health care. They need to find more qualified employees and then invest more into the training of these employees before they send them out to engage one-on-one with an elderly person.

The caregivers are very compassionate and legitimately like and care for my dear sweet mother. Some feel almost personally attached like a relative. It's so nice to know that my mother is in good caring hands. They take her to the store when necessary and help her walk the dog. HI is always receptive to working with us when we request a special service. We're very happy with HI.

Home Instead sent us a wonderful caretaker for mom. She was very professional and intuitively knew what mom needed. Mom always like her home very clean and organized and her caretake knew exactly what she needed and cheerfully helped her.
Her caretaker helped with bathing and cleaning as well as giving mom someone to patiently listen to her stories.
I would highly refer this agency to anyone looking for care.

Our family used Home Instead (HI) services for almost three weeks. All the caregivers were kind and compassionate. Our staffing needs were met within a 24-hour time frame. I found HI office staff to be very accommodating and responsive to our requests.
By far, our favorite HI caregiver was Debby. We were blessed that she was here on Bruce's final day. Debby was extremely caring and attentive. She allowed my husband to maintain his dignity at all times and treated him with utmost respect. Debby should be one of your trainers.

We had several caregivers for my in-laws over the course of a year. All were excellent. Caring, careful, helpful, thoughtful, kind and professional. They went out of their way to help and adjust to changing needs. Summer was a special favorite! This is a well-run organization and the caregivers have excellent training. We only stopped because they needed to move to memory care.

I'm very happy with the care and company I receive from Home Instead. Lisa does light housekeeping, some cooking, and takes me to appointments.

Home Instead is amazing. They have the most caring compassionate caregivers I've ever met. We were blessed with both Naomi and Anthony that cared for my father in our home when we couldn't be there. They were just like family to him & us...

We couldn't have asked for a more caring and thoughtful group of individuals to look after our mother in her final days. She was very frail, and they took such good care of her that we didn't worry about her when she was in their care. They were on time, followed up with the staff at mom's care facility, stayed on top of when she should be receiving meds, meals and when she needed to be repositioned (every 2 hours). I highly recommend them!!

My mother was a client for about six months while she was still in her home and before she moved to a memory care facility due to dementia. I could not have picked a more professional and caring organization than Home Instead. I tend to be very discriminating, researching all options, and then being involved during service from a distance in another state. I was over and over impressed by the office staff and how organized, professional, and right-on with any issues. I was frequently notified when there were concerns, mine or theirs, especially when dealing with a difficult husband in the home, but not a client. The caregivers were well-trained, compassionate, and diligent in using time well. Honestly, with all the challenges that come with caring for an elderly parent, especially with early dementia, Home Instead made my job so much easier. I will be forever grateful!

I am the son of a client who received care from Home Instead. The caregivers who came to assist my mother over the past several years were very kind and understanding. We were very pleased with their work. Some of the caregivers were very remarkable people. We were impressed by the efforts of the agency office to meet our scheduling requests and by their sincere efforts to communicate effectively with us.

While dying, my husband was cared for around the clock with the most caring, cared for and loving caregivers. He loved talking to them and telling them stories. They helped my daughter and me so when he passed.

My 81 year old Father has care with Home Instead Senior Care and there are no words to convey how completely happy my brother's and I are with the care they provide our Father. They do everything they can to accommodate our wishes for our father. We have had to make changes in the times and kind of care and they are prompt in getting everything arranged and are always so friendly to speak with. I would absolutely recommend Home Instead Senior Care to anyone who wants the best care for their loved one.

The only problems I encountered are: caregivers needed training in assisting my dad with the glucose testing and communication between the office assistants and caregivers could improve. Otherwise, I am very happy with the services.

You managed to match a caregiver with mom who shares knowledge of where she used to live so it makes it easier for her to discuss past times, someone who shares a love of Scrabble like she does. It also helps that Charlotte is so full of energy because it helps both of us.

We were both very impressed with Home Instead from the first call to inquire to the end of our association. Everyone we talked with or saw in person was pleasant, knowledgeable, efficient and performing their specific duties very well. It was worth the expense. my husband could not use his hands and could not be left alone and I needed to go to important appointments.

The caregivers and management of Home Instead Senior Care are very good and reasonable. We are very happy with their service. No matter who they send, my parents are very happy. They do basic care like cleaning my dad, changing the bed sheets, and taking care of him. The caregivers are very positive, energetic, and understanding. Their price is competitive, and they are very good at scheduling. Management came out after a couple of months to see how everything was going. They are really top notch.

I can no way say enough good things about Home Instead and my fathers main care giver.
Over a period of time she became as close as family and took care of him as though he was her father. Keeping day and night care dates and times is not an easy task but Home Instead pulls it off day after day. I have already recommended these services to others and will continue to do so.
