My mother suffered from an unusual form of dementia, with very rapid decline; it was barely five years from her living independently in her own home to her death. When my mother was first diagnosed, a family friend recommended HomeWatch to me, saying that they had provided her own mother with outstanding care - and my friend was right. I had been uncomfortable with the idea of caregivers coming in and out of my mother's home. She was a very private person, and I thought that she would be uncomfortable with strangers. Ms. Sachs personally screened the HomeWatch caregivers for compatibility; their work with my mother was professional and kind, and they became a source of great comfort to her. I was also concerned about my mother's personal safety, and the security of her property. I very quickly realized that she and her belongings were safer under the caregiver's watch than they had been for years before. HomeWatch addressed my mother's needs wonderfully, beginning with occasional visits and assistance, and adapted the care they provided quickly and seamlessly, progressing to full-time, 24-hour monitoring and care at the end. They worked with doctors and hospital staff, home nursing, and finally Hospice care, all cooperatively and efficiently. They got my mother through daily life, hospital visits, and even a move, as comfortably as could be. People often say, "I don't know what I would have done without them," and in my case that is literally true. Ms. Sachs, her company, and her caregiving team have my thanks and appreciation for their professional competence and courtesy - and even more so for their personal kindness and consideration, which helped me and all our family through the most difficult of times.
