Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Home Instead has been invaluable in finding aides to help with respite care for my husband, who is largely home-bound. Our current caregiver, Alice, has a caring nature. She respectfully assists my husband, allowing him to retain his dignity while she helps him with grooming and doing his physical therapy. She is always on time and always cheerful and helpful. My husband enjoys the time Alice spends with him while I run errands and have some personal time away.

Very happy with Home Instead's services. My dad needs additional support with feeding, bathing and other basic needs as he ages in place at this assisted living facility. The team is on time, and very caring. I never have to worry about scheduling or people showing up! LouAnn in particular is a real gem and a lifeline for us. This provides a lot of piece of mind for me and my sister, who live out of town.

The caregiver and the whole staff are wonderful. They work around any schedule.
I highly recommend this agency to anyone that wants to keep their parent at home but needs extra help to do that.

I needed to hire some home health care help for my dad as he was at home under hospice care, and very frail. Friends at church recommended Home Instead Senior Care in Oakwood, OH and his main Care Professional Diane D. was a kind and capable help to my dad. After he passed I needed help for my mom to keep her at home and Diane D. has continued as mom's Care Professional. She takes great care of mom, is always available and willing and has become a loved and good friend to her as well. I recommend this agency and Diane to anyone.

When I reached out to Home Instead in the summer I didn't really know what to do, but they responded to my inquiry right away, and walked me through the steps. I was trying to coordinate care for my mom while I was in Minnesota and she was in Ohio. I provided some background and information on my mom's personality and her needs. Then they sent someone to the nursing home/rehab facility where she was to meet with her and my brother. That gave my mom a level of comfort. When my mom was ready to come home, we had a plan, and the nurse care manager, Paola, and the care giver came to the apartment and walked through the practicalities. After that first meeting, Paola called me and reviewed what was going to happen, suggestions for my mom, etc. Over the months, Paola and I had several conversations about my mom's progress, scheduling, the different caregivers (because of our schedule we had a couple different people). I knew I could call her if I had concerns or questions about my mom's progress or care. We had several wonderful caregivers (again scheduling sometimes necessitated changing staff), and we finally connected with India, who was amazing and from the get go, my mom just connected with her and could not say enough wonderful things. My siblings met India and also shared how much they liked her and felt comfortable having her in the apartment. She helped with different projects, played games with my mom and chatted and watched tv. India, Paola and the other staff at Home Instead made a huge difference in my mom's recovery. I am grateful I found them.

The caregivers were very professional and extremely helpful. They were willing to do whatever I needed. When I needed a caregiver to stay later they often would. They even accompanied me to doctor appointments. My daughter was able to meet the ladies before they started care. A supervisor often came out to check on the caregivers to make sure everything was ok. There were times my regular caregivers could not work their shift but Home Instead was able to find a replacement to come help and would let me know in advance.

Home Instead provided in-home caregivers for my 88-89 year-old father for about 18 months. They provided very caring caregivers who were always respectful of my dad and gave him top quality care. The office support provided careful oversight of the caregivers and kept me well informed about all aspects of his care and scheduling. They were always responsive to my needs and worked well me to coordinate my dad's care. When I called them in an emergency situation, they found a caregiver to spend the night with him that first night. That caregiver became a regular nighttime caregiver for him. She even provided care when my son was married, and she attended the wedding with my dad. We were so blessed to have Home Instead support my dad and our family when it got to the point that he could not stay alone in his home. Their caregivers were with him around the clock until the day he unexpectedly, but peacefully, passed in his home, watching his favorite television show, with a caregiver sitting next to him. I would highly recommend Home Instead to provide in-home care.

Home Instead provides in-home caregiving services for my mother who has dementia and various other medical issues. Our caregivers always arrived promptly, were polite and friendly, and provided above-and-beyond care for my mother.
Home Instead stands apart from many other agencies because of their Christian values, their highly-trained, skilled caregivers, and their excellent, responsive client service. Having used other agencies in the past before finding Home Instead, the difference was night and day. On a number of occasions, Home Instead was able to accommodate changes to our weekly schedule (whether short notice scheduling changes or providing extra caregiver hours upon request for a particular week or ensuring continuity of care when our primary caregiver encountered an unexpected short-term medical leave).
I have been very satisfied with every facet of my interactions with them, and would certainly look first to Home Instead when we move to a different market.

Our family used the home care services provided by Home Instead for over two years for our father who has alzheimers/dementia. We had care for him five days a week - four hours a day. They would cook meals for him, clean his small apartment, wash his laundry, change his sheets and wash them, run him on errands (grocery store, pharmacy), take him to some appointments (doctor, podiatrist, hair cut), take him for walks, and many other things. He had a main care provider, but also some alternate ones as well. They were all so kind to him and attended to all his needs. His main care provider went above and beyond by even purchasing a foot spa on her own and giving him weekly pedicures. She was a true gift from God for our father and we were blessed to have her care for him for over two years.
Our father's condition worsened, so we just recently had to place him in memory care....the hardest decision of our lives. We will miss the wonderful care provided him at his home. Thank you Home Instead!

Home Instead is a wonderful agency to work with for long term home health needs, but in this case they were equally fabulous for a short term need. They were very flexible with days and times as well as coordinating with family members so we did not overlap coverage for my mom. Each caregiver sent was remarkably kind and easy to work with. I would highly recommend Home Instead.

I had outstanding care by highly professional care takers. My care takers Darlene and Rochelle arrived on time and administered ever in a timely manner.
The agency called and followed up as to how things were going.
They were Covid careful and really cared for me.
Best thing I could do for myself post surgery.

Home Instead Senior Care has some awesome Aides. Tamara has been great with taking care our mom. She is personable, and glad to be there. She comes on time and very engaging with our mom. She helps with house cleaning, laundry and cooking. Home stead Aides has been great!

She assist with washing clothes, cleaning, and cooking for our mom. She takes our mom outside for walks. She is so good at engaging with our mom. I'm using Home Instead. My caregiver's name is Sandy, and she's an angel from heaven. She helped me get through the death of my wife. She comes twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays. She tidies up, makes the bed, changes the bed once a week, helps me shower, does the laundry, she dusts, she'll do the door windows, and makes sure I've got all my medications in the right places. She does anything that I ask her to do. She's had her shots, I've had mine, and she wears a mask. The second time I fell she was here, and she pushed my life alert button for me and EMS got here. She'd cook if I wanted to, but I get Meals on Wheels and I've got my microwave. Communication is super. She gets my mail, and it's 70 feet from my door down to the mailbox. I don't know what I would do without her. She hangs my clothes up, and we play trivia games.

Very caring trustworthy people. I have 24 hour service for my sister and I am pleased with her care. They help cook meals do housekeeping. Help with bathing snd dressing. They watch over her so falls do not occur help exercising with her. A couple of them have become like family.

My mother receives ADL, companionship, socialization and exercises from her Caregivers. Each of her caregivers are punctual and will willing change their times to accommodate changes in my mom’s or sister’s schedule.
My sister is with the caregivers more than I and she tells me that she enjoys their company as well as her opportunity for “down and me time.” I too am relieved that she appears so much more relaxed and less stressed. I feel that I have a good rapport with each HCA and can easily discuss my Mom’s care, listen to concerns and enlist their insights.
The office staff has been professional, courteous and readily addresses my questions and concerns, this includes the RN Manager, Mom’s care coordinator and scheduler and your phone staff who connects me to the right person or ensures that a message is generated to ensure a call back.

I'm using Home Instead Senior Care Oakwood Village, the services are fair and we've had no problems. We've been working together okay, and I couldn't do any better than that. Some of the caregivers were pretty knowledgeable and those we'd like to hang on to. They kept shuffling caregivers, there would be a different one every day and my wife went into the routine of retraining them so we didn't care for that. Now, we have one that we're satisfied with. They come 2 days a week with no more than 3 hours each time. The communication with the agency is prompt and it suits our needs just fine. I think it's over-priced and they should pay the help more than they do. Minimum wage is $15 per hour and they're somewhere around only $8 an hour. This agency is willing and the caregivers are able, they do general shopping with us and we've now settled things pretty well with them. In terms of attitude and capabilities, I think they do a pretty good job. The individuals are conscientious and could care for us. They assist in everything like housework, just easy work.

My father love the gentleman that takes him to his doctor appointments he always ask that he take him. The gentleman is always on time, friendly and talks to my dad. My dad says that it like talking to a old friend and that the gentleman is a very good driver.
My father say that all the staff at the clinic knows the gentleman that bring him by name. Home Instead Senior Care have really been a blessing to me and my family.

You’ve been exceptionally responsive to unpredictable scheduling needs revolving around hospital admissions and discharges. This couldn’t be more appreciated and allows us to feel confident in meeting the hospital’s requirements.
All of the caregivers have consistently been on time and ready to work. They are excellent working with a woman who has spent 30 years living very independently in her own home and for the first time ever is experiencing physical limitations. They do such a good job of making her feel good, yet guiding her to do what is necessary. The caregivers are also great working with family members. I couldn’t recommend Home Instead more highly!!!

Home Instead Senior Care provided home care for my mother for a year and a half . She had 6 care givers working different schedules and every one of them was kind and professional. I know it's hard to believe but we had no problems thanks to Christine who was her primary care manager, as well as her office support team.. She was great! I recommend Home Instead to any one looking for first class home care!

Professional and caring staff. Great response to inquiries and needs. Clear assessments of needs with attention to fine detail about the patient to find aides with a good personal fit, not just a good fit for more "technical" needs. It is clear that information about my parents' physical needs and personal eccentricities requirements are documented and taken into consideration each time I call for a service. A really good experience in often very difficult circumstance. All of this makes my family very confident about my parents being in good hands. Lady who came to our house while I was out of town, was such a caring, loving and hard working person. I can't say enough about her nice and friendly personality. My husband was very pleased with her also. He was feeling very comfortable when she was helping him with whatever he needed help with. Our house was very clean, dishes and laundry done, plants watered and more things I missed, just like I didn't leave our house. Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it. My 90 year old Mom lives with us, and has reached the stage of life where she can no longer fix a meal for herself if we are not home. She uses a walker and can be left by herself for several hours, but not days, and she does a lot of sleeping. We use Home Instead to senior-sit and prepare a meal for her every other week so we can get out for "date night". They have been a Godsend and we have never had any complaints. They are prompt, courteous, kind and helpful, and do an excellent job.

Home Instead's logo includes a small phrase, “to us it’s personal”. One might think that is something to catch attention and may not really believe this is the case. My experience with Home Instead has proven that this phrase couldn’t be more accurate.
Home Instead has taken care of Jo, my mother for several years, who is now 97 years old. Unfortunately she has reached the point where she needs 24/7 care and has been moved to a nursing facility. All of the caregivers from Home Instead have gone above and beyond the call of duty, even stopping to visit her on their own time as well as communicating with me to keep me informed of her activity. Since I live in Texas, this service and caring attitude has been a tremendous service and helped with my peace of mind.

My mother’s latest primary Home Instead caregiver, Lyn, is simply a gem… an angel in disguise. She is not only genuinely caring, she has put her mind to what was the best way to care for my mother’s needs. As we increased needed hours for my mother, Patricia H, a past caregiver of hers came on board again, displaying incredible compassion for my mom. Olivia and Flonnie recently began caring for her as well… again, displaying sincere, mindful caring.

I don't know how you were so successful matching Natasha and my Mother, but you definitely chose the most compatible Caregiver possible. Mom feels truly cared for. Not only does Natasha watch over Mom and complete housework for us, she also takes the time to check in on Mom when she is not scheduled especially if the weather is bad or Mom is not feeling well. I believe they have formed a friendship that my Mom treasures. We are thankful that she takes such good care of her.

i used Home Instead for a month when my mom was discharged from Rehab. I told them my main concern was care giver consistently and I was introduced to two caregivers. I picked one whom my mom preferred and she was with us everyday. I had the same caregiver everyday and my mom looked forward to her caregiver coming. I unfortunately had to put my mom in a nursing home and cancel Home Instead and they understood. I am so thankful for the last month I got to have my mom home with me because of Home Instead. I recommend them and display their brochures at our office. Thank you Maria and Nicole!

We contacted Home Instead for a non-skilled aide to help with my father who is mobility and speech impaired. The in-take process was very thorough and professional as was the introduction to the care givers. I found the care gives to be very responsive, prompt and attentive. The second time we used Home Instead for weekend care we have a very different experience. When the caregiver who was supposed to come at 10:00 PM called in sick there was no substitute available. Home Instead could not provide any care in this situation. We were totally left high and dry without care. This was a particular problem given that we were scheduled to leave at 6AM the next morning for an out of town family visit. This was the worst service ever. I would never, ever suggest this service to anyone else. The whole point of hiring a service is to provide back up. This was a miserable failure on the part of Home Instead.
