About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Home Instead was a godsend for our family.
On the very first day of service we hit it off like fire, the aide that was working for my father did everything right "on the money", she anticipated and helped him out with everything that was supposed to be done,she was very friendly, and she is everything that I would have hoped for in someone to take care of my beloved one.
The agency was a was a pleasure to deal with <3

We used Home Instead to arrange care for my father in law.
We used them for about 6 months ( until he passed away )
They were very professional and caring and adjusted the level of care as it rapidly progressed.I would recommend them to anyone looking to care for a loved one at home.

A few months ago my family and I made the decision to look for a person to accompany my father-in-law.His condition after having suffered from covid was not the best so we looked for someone mainly to be there for him during the day.
At first he wasn't accepting anyone for more than a few hours a day. Over time, he got used to having someone by his side to help him with his daily activities.
All the staff that went to take care of him were very sweet and patient, more than helping him physically they gave him a lot of moral support when he felt depressed or demoralized for not feeling close to his 100%.
To this day he feels very well, he says that his experience with the agency was incredible, so much so that he recommends the agency to all his childhood friends.

The agency helped me in a very difficult moment for my family, when my aunt suffered a fall resulting in a broken femur.
The day we returned home after her operation I called to ask about the services and the next day I had someone at home to assist me with her meals, transfers and personal care.
At all times we all felt completely satisfied with the treatment received, we never felt that the aides were taking care of a client but of a family member.
We were able to leave this difficult situation behind thanks to the effort and dedication of the staff assigned to us.
If at any other time I need this agency, I would not hesitate to call again!

My cousin used this agency service to escort him to and from appointments.
As time passed he became more dependent and had to increase coverage; aides sent were able to make the transition super easy and comfortable for him since his mobility was getting limited (wheelchair bound).
Staff was incredibly well trained, polite and they really seem to love what the do

It's only been a few months since my family has been involved. Yet, I am satisfied so far. My uncle has not expressed any unhappiness with the caregivers and they all seem to care for and about him.
The nurse was extremely professional and consistent in providing the highest quality of care.

My aunt was diagnosed with dementia, she was regressing to her primary language ( Spanish ). I had heard many good things about this agency so I decided to call.
The person who answered the phone was very diligent and promised to try as much as possible to meet my needs.
Long story short, I was able to get the coverage that I was looking for my aunt with aides with advanced experience taking care of seniors with dementia and of course they were also able to communicate with her in spanish. All of them were able to involve my aunt in activities that kept her cognitively engaged.
I am very content with the service!

I enrolled my mother with Home Instead basically to help her with her daily errands and companionship but it has become so much more than that.Her aide has built a strong relationship with her over the last year…
I was shockingly surprised when her aide ( her angel fallen from heaven as she likes to call her ) sent me videos of my mother singing and dancing all over the place.
I can't visit her as often as I want for work reasons but knowing that my mom is happy in my absence is a truly satisfying!

The Manhattan office of Home Instead took care of my sister for 3 years and I can only say that they were so responsive, so caring and were available 27 hours a day, 7 days a week at all hours. We drove them crazy and they treated us like royalty. They took care of her personal care needs, housekeeping, shopping, medications, took her out for walks. They were always on time. The caregivers were always kind. The office very responsive. God bless them

Wow. The social worker told me they were the best and they were. Their nurse came and assessed within 2 hours and within 5 hours we had round the clock service that was and continues to be seemless. Anytime there is a problem of many nature, we get called ASAP/ They even have tablets in the homne that allow us to see what is going on in the home and allows our dad to do a host of brain stimulating activities. Love this service.

The first call to Home Instead is important. The lady they send to interview you and the ill person is important . They did a ;great job.
The lady they sent is perfect.
The billing department and handling the insurance issues has been terrific.
Helper is always on time. Never rushes to leave. Caregiver has been wonderful.

Home Instead has provided 24-hour live-in home care to my relative for the past five years. I have found them to be accessible and reliable. I especially appreciate the fact that the owner gives clients his cell-phone number and can be reached directly. The office staff is friendly and helpful. On the few occasions that I called them to request a change in health aide because of a "bad fit" with my relative, it was done readily and quickly. My relative now has had the same wonderful, dedicated primary aide for about three and a half years. Not only does she provide excellent physical care, but she has helped create a life for my relative by taking her out in her wheelchair into the community where she can interact with kids and enjoy some of the free public sites and events that Manhattan has to offer. Home instead has definitely improved the quality of my relative's life, and of mine as the overseer of her care.
