About This Community

At Assisting Hands we provide peace of mind to clients and their families. Our in-home care assures them that loved ones can remain safe, comfortable and independent.

We serve clients who are generally in good health, but would like some companionship and help around the house, as well as those suffering from various chronic illnesses. We also assist people who need temporary assistance while they recuperate from an injury, hospitalization or surgery. In each of these cases our certified home health aides can help with the activities of daily living. All of our aides have passed an extensive screening and our orientation program. They are licensed, bonded and insured. Our clients consistently compliment us on our quality caregivers and on two other areas of strength.

The first is our Director of Nursing or DON. This is a full-time, dedicated role for our agency. Our DON interviews every caregiver candidate, partners on all hiring decisions, conducts our orientation training, and provides ongoing supervision in the field. She also meets every client and completes the detailed assessment that we use to establish the care plan and select a caregiver.

Perhaps most important she remains involved during the course of our service via follow-up visits and calls. She frequently receives feedback from our aides about changes in our clients’ condition, and she uses this information to coordinate appropriate action with family members and medical providers. Some agencies use multiple nurses on a per diem basis, and in some cases they are responsible only for the assessment work. We believe our approach offers much greater consistency and value for our clients.

The other differentiator is reliability. Your caregiver will clock in and out by dialing a toll-free number from your home phone. We monitor this activity and are quickly in touch with the aide and yourself in the event of a delay. We also have a great track record with respect to sending the same aide on a regular basis. Our clients appreciate the comfort of seeing the same friendly face. And that consistency promotes strong bonds between the client and caregiver, which encourages socialization and ultimately benefits the client’s well being. When the need does arise to send someone new, one of our staff will come to your home to introduce the new aide. Clients and their families appreciate that someone they’ve met prior goes out to introduce the new person, particularly when a client lives alone.

My mom was in an independent living facility. She needed some nursing care when she came out of rehab. Assisting Hands was the agency affiliated with the facility. They provided a couple of hours' worth if services in the morning. The aides were all nice and did what they needed to do. They were excellent and good.

My mother in-law was sick. She couldn't walk and it turned out that she needed to have her left kidney removed. I reached out to Assisting Hands and they were able to provide help for my mother in-law for a couple of hours each day. The caregiver assists her with her daily needs and household chores. She is also a great companion for her. She has good work ethics. I can't ask for anything better.

My overall experience with Assisting Hands is really good. They came at a time of desperate need. They're very communicative and easy to get a hold of. They're very courteous. The help themselves are very personable and easy to get along with. We have a great experience. They come about six times a week. The one girl that comes to my parents' house just does everything -- from running errands to taking dogs out, to cooking, to cleaning, to shopping, to showering, to clothing, to laundry bedding and for companionship.

Assisting hands was wonderful with my husband. They were really kind and really got him talking because he doesn't usually talk very much and got him to converse. He became cheerful and he connected with them very well. We've been using them for almost a year. There's no issues with the scheduling and billing. Whenever I call and I need assistance on a certain day, they are always very accommodating and they have always have somebody ready and willing. They take into consideration his condition and his needs and they cover it very well. I would not use anybody else because I have full confidence in them.

Overall our experience with Assisting Hands was absolutely wonderful. I had a positive experience with them. They were very professional. We had somebody at the house 12 hours a day, basically from the time he woke up until the time he went to bed at night. It was wonderful and honestly I don't know how we would have handled it without them. They were always there and we got very close to them. We had 1 male attendant and 1 female. We had them for 2 months and they worked 7 days a week. I referred them to another neighbor and they had a wonderful experience as well.
