About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

My caregivers help me with light house cleaning and personal healthcare. The caregivers are always on time as well.
I also like how my caregivers interact with me and my humor, making my day as most of the time they are the only people I see most days

The agency provides three hours of care for my husband seven days per week.
Staff arrives 100% on time during the week.
Some glitches on weekends yet shift always eventually covered even if delayed.
Caregivers are responsive to direction.
Not overly sensitive to correction. Rather, quite open to correction without defensiveness, a pleasant change from other agencies.
The agency has been responsive to most of our requests except there are more caregivers assigned in a week than we prefer or expected. They have worked diligently with us to get the same caregivers established most days which we greatly appreciate.

Bonnie was excellent, very caring, very attentive to detail, very friendly. Did not have to worry about my mother being taken care of while she was at home recovering from a broken hip. Bonnie even came by to visit after finishing up with her care. Mom said she felt like she was an old friend sitting around talking. My sister and I felt very comfortable when we first visited the facility to speak with them about coming in to take care of our mother during this time. We are thankful to have had someone as she and I could not have taken on this responsibility full time. It was comforting to know she was well taken care of.

Home Instead was critical to success with the goal of keeping my parents at home as long as possible. My mom had Alzheimer's and my dad had cognitive dementia. They both loved being at home, and thanks to Home Instead, we were able to keep them there for nearly two years from the point that they started needing supervision. The caregivers took a genuine liking to my parents, and at least one caregiver considered them her adopted parents. Due to my dad's recent stroke and my mom's progressive decline, they can no longer stay at home, but the time that they got to spend there was precious, thanks to Home Instead.

Lauren is a true role model for every care giver. She has mastered the art of sympathetic and effective care giving. She arrives on time, works constantly, and is always careful and competent. Her personality is such that you feel you have known her for years. Not only is she smart and efficient, she is delightfully funny, too. Lauren really cares about her work and it shows. A unique person, you can't get better than Lauren.

Home Instead Lexington, NC has provided with the best of caregivers. Without these ladies I would be completely home bound. But with their assistance, I'm able to meet all of my appointments, have lunch with friends, go to Bible study, or just go for a ride. These ladies are really like family to me and I'm very thankful for them and their assistance and friendship!

Home Instead cared for our dad on/off for about 3 years as he struggled with various health challenges, including walking. They provided a variety of services such as food prep, light housekeeping, running errands, driving him to doctor appointments, and getting him dressed. Office staff was dependable, attentive, kind and respectful. If we had an issue with someone (very minor), they addressed it immediately & supported our requests. They gave us peace of mind that he was being treated like they would treat their own family. We highly recommend this organization. Thank you!

A year ago, we hired Home Instead health care to come to my parents’ home to help them with everyday tasks; including errands, changing bedding, mopping the floor, etc. What we ended up getting was a dear new ‘family member.’ That person, Phyllis, brought sunshine and joy into their home, always treated my parents as if she were their daughter, and genuinely loved my parents! They looked forward to Phyllis coming over, and we felt extremely comfortable knowing they were in such amazing care! We live in Ohio, and knowing that Phyllis was someone they LOVED, gave us great comfort living so far away.
Sadly, Daddy passed away on February 4, and my mother is now living in Ohio with us. We could not have found a better place to reach out to for support for my parents over the past year. Yana, Phyllis, and the Lexington Home Instead staff are forever 'family' to us, and we’ll never forget the tremendous amount of love they gave ma and daddy! They truly have a ministry at Home Instead, and I pray that God will continue to use them to bless others who need love and care!!

I have used Home Instead for over 4 years for my 97 year old mother. Her current caregiver from Home Instead has been serving my mother for over 2 years. She cleaned my mom ‘s living area, changed her linens, and made sure that mom had taken her medications. She watered her plants and kept my self and brothers posted on her progress. At Thanksgiving my mom took a decline and I brought her to live at my house. I continued to use Home Instead once a week during the day to make mom’s breakfast and lunch and change linens and do personal care. This gave me an opportunity to do my own personal things such as doctors appointment and shopping etc. They also set up sitters once a week in the evenings so I could enjoy an evening out for dinner. I cannot say enough good things about this agency. They are extremely responsively to your needs.

Our caregivers have been prompt and overall very good. Mom's favorites are those that interact with her playing cards, doing puzzles, etc. She also wants the caregiver to be active in caring for her home. Keeping the kitchen counters wiped and dishes put away, etc.
Our Home Instead group has been SO responsive to our needs and concerns. Couldn't ask for a better relationship with them when last minute things happen or changes have to be made. Christina is the best!!!!

Although we were outside of their normal territory, this agency worked to provide wonderful help for us. The staff was always on time, consistently completing all assigned tasks, even following through with physical therapy exercises and reorganizing kitchen cabinets. We are very thankful to receive their help and highly recommend.

The Home Instead services have been wonderful. We appreciate the quick and quality care we've received thus far. We have had 2 ladies in our home since we began 2 months ago and they both are quite accomplished in their professions. My mom wouldn't have been able to come home if it wasn't for the services we are receiving. Glad that we were given Home Instead's information in our time of need.

Home Instead in Lexington provided excellent care for my mother for nine months. Because I am an only child living in another state, my caretaking for mom has to be long-distance. It was imperative to have someone I could trust. Home Instead offered this and so much more! I am convinced that mom is still alive because of these wonderful caregivers. (She's in assisted living now.) Everyone was thoughtful, attentive, kept in touch with me, and was loving, supportive and kind to my mother. They treated her as if she were their own mother. I had so much more peace of mind, knowing she was being well cared for. Everyone at the Lexington office was always helpful and supportive. There are so many who helped on every level that I can't name them all. I would highly recommend Home Instead. Trustworthy, dependable, and caring, they made a huge difference in her life and in MY life during a very challenging time. I highly recommend Home Instead!

My father and I are delighted by the care and compassion shown by Nicole. She is attentive, patient, and even predicts my father's needs and actions. Nicole graciously takes on added responsibilities and has a wonderful work ethic. She always arrives a couple of minutes early and doesn't ever seem to be in a rush to leave. We would highly recommend Nicole and Home Instead Senior Care.

It was referred by a friend that we chose to have Home Instead Senior Care for my mom. I can't say enough great things about them. They are very responsive and very flexible. They can change their hours of service based on the needs of their clients.My mom's caregiver is very caring and sweet. She's always making sure she's taking her meds on time. We found a great match caregiver for her. I will recommend this provider to anyone.
