About This Community

Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.

Home Instead - Caregiver Skills

Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.

Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.

Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.

Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Loren is very good at communicating with me regarding the care my brother is receiving from their agency. I live over 500 miles away and know the staff at Home Instead is watching after my brother, whom I have legal guardianship. Loren works tirelessly in making sure my brother has the best care giver and is a great team player with the other agencies involved in my brother's care. I appreciate all the work the Home Instead staff provides from taking him to doctor/therapy appointments, recreational activities and even out to lunch/dinner. They genuinely care about my brother and advocate for changes when they deem necessary. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this agency.

Staff is very professional and helpful. Our caregivers have been pleasant with a good understanding of our needs on arrival' Couldn't ask for a better experience so far.

I'm provided transportation for appointments and errands. Staff (i.e. caregiver) arrives on time and is very personable and supportive not only with rides but with listening to concerns and offering suggestions - only as appropriate. I am very appreciative of the assistance I receive from her.

My mom has been so happy with the caregivers that have been helping her since starting with Home Instead. Since my sister and I live far away, it's a relief to us to know she has the assistance she needs and a bonus that each individual has been caring, engaging and compassionate. I'm also thankful the office went above and beyond this past week to help the transition to a new medication dispenser that took some special attention and extra efforts to work properly. It's can be a scary thing to be so far away from a loved one when the aging process makes them so dependent on help for many issues. I'm breathing easier knowing Home Instead is in her corner, helping with the things that are difficult for her and making her days brighter!

Home Instead has been wonderful to my mom and given me a large sense of relief and confidence she is OK. Very willing to work through any challenges that come up, to accommodate my mom's sense of comfort and minimize anxiety.

We have in home care for 4 hours 3 mornings a week. Staff is always on time and professional but friendly and attentive to my husband’s needs. Our caregivers are easy to communicate with and eager to do just what we ask. Our interactions with the office staff are always pleasant. They respond quickly, explain thoroughly, listen carefully and keep us informed of where a request is in the process of being answered. We could not be more pleased and grateful.

Home Instead Caregivers help my mother feel as if the caregiver is an extension of herself, doing what she has done in the past and can no longer perform now.

I'm not there when the helper gets there. I leave a note with things to do. She leaves a note that says what she did, and how my Mom was doing that day. My Mother, who did not want any help, is now accepting the help and enjoying the visit.

They were up front concerning the cost and how the time scheduals work. They are pricey but their care is high quality. On an average the nighttime 10 shift is around $18.00 an hr min 10 hr shift. And day shifts are around $24.00 and hr. Min 3 hr. Shifts. With this comes peace of mind and easy to work with people. We use their over night service the most. We have 1, 3 hr. Day shift. We had tried other shifts and made different changes in the beginning while trying to figure out what works best for us. They were very accomadating and easy to work with. The caregivers are on time most of the time. The times they were a little late we recieved a call and it was not a problem at all. The caregivers are very sweet , gentle and easy to work with. Ive had to call and make changes for the times that company is in town and they were so kind and easy to work with. Any time I've called and left a message I've always recieved a call back and rather quickly. They bill twice a month. Their caregivers are quality, they do background checks on them and encourage feed back on how they are doing. If you ever have a caregiver that just may not be right for you they are happy and quick to find a replacement. They protect the clients and caregivers and are very prefessional and courteous. Over all I feel they are the best.

Flexibility, well trained caregivers, really care about my mom, excellent communication and coordination with me. Mom would NOT be able to live in the comfort of her home with her animals, if it wasn't for them.

I can't say enough about the wonderful care giver Kim. She is assisting my mother who has dementia, good days and bad. Miss Kim treated her like I would, with kindness, understanding and compassion. You couldn't find a better care giver. The supervisor is very communicative, and calls me if there is the slightest concern. I would highly recommend Home Instead. Thank you to the Bitterroot care givers for Home Instead!

I have been so impressed with the caring staff at Home Instead. I was so worried about finding help for my mom, but after meeting with the staff I felt so much better. They really make you feel like you are part of a big family. I appreciate them so much!
