I'm writing to nominate Miss Noel for the Angel of the Month Award. For us, she is the Angel of the Decade — maybe the Angel of the Century. She is working magic with 94-year-old our mother, who has — until a few months ago — insisted that she did not need help. Miss Noel brings a great joy into our home, keeps it cleaner and safer than it has ever been. And we mean ever. Like ever. We live in Los Angeles; Harriet has a robust and loving community in Detroit, so we are committed to her staying there. Miss Noel really gets who we are as a family, is attentive and engaged with us, as a family. She is loving and respectful of our mom and truly enjoys her. The feeling is mutual. For the first time in many years we are not worried, because this extraordinary person has joined our family — our team.

I had a detailed discussion with the company representative before signing up. You must pay one month before even meeting a caregiver. The caregivers need supervision. They only do what they are asked to do that day. Not what needs to be done. They are house sitters. Or a companion to watch TV with your loved one. Taking care of their house for them will not happen. Unreliable caregivers. They send different ones who have to be taught what to do. It’s upsetting to Dementia patients. My mom was in tears all the time. The caregivers were on their phones all day. Management just sent anyone that they could get to fill the schedule. The girls who arrived wanted to watch TV
