Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

My family has used home health aides from Home Instead over a period of 12 years for both companion and personal care and we are a third time repeat and very happy customer. A number of the same caring, competent, reliable and efficient caregivers who cared for my mother with compassion and respect as she coped with a serious illness from 2009 through 2014, and my father also during 2009 recovering from open heart surgery, were again available both in 2017 and now - 2021, to provide care for my father during his recovery from two additional surgeries. We have been very pleased with the stability, reliability and professional services provided by Home Instead on both a full time and part time basis. Home Instead has a stable cadre of professionals with consistent back-up capability. We have never been left without a caregiver, even on short notice. The ability to have some of the same caregivers over a period of many years has been reassuring and very comforting. Ella and Jenny have been wonderful with both my parents. And thanking Patty, Laura, Diana and their entire staff for their responsive and attentive customer service !

Aides are able to assist with patient care such as dressing, bathing, meal prep and balance support.
Staff usually arrives as planned.
Caregivers are friendly and willing to fulfill reasonable requests.
The agency has been responsive to scheduling requests.

Our family enjoys how nimbly Home Instead responds to requests for additional shifts. We also appreciate the quality of the care representatives sent to help our mother. We can gladly report that they go above and beyond to make sure my mom is happy and well cared for - whether they work for her 1 day a week or 4 - they seem to cherish her as much as the family.

My mother’s caregiver actually engages with her. I had used another provider initially and that caregiver spent the entire time on her phone and barely spoke to my mom

The Staff is very, very helpful assessing the patient and offering advice.
The staff in the field are super, arriving on time, exhibiting concern and care for the patient and willingness to talk with family.
The agency alerts me to any changes with caregivers timing and problems so that we can address them together.
We are very pleased with the services of Home Instea.

Very happy with the care, flexibility and reliability of Home Instead. We needed help with my Mom on very short notice and Home Instead was completely easy to work with and gave us peace of mind. Many of the caregivers are truly kind and special people. We feel very lucky to have had this service especially during the pandemic because we wouldn’t have been able to see our Mom if she was in rehab.

I am a senior, but did not need any home assistance until two months ago, when a received a diagnosis of advanced cancer and began chemotherapy treatments. My husband also has a disability, meaning that both of us really need assistance.
We called Home Instead, who sent a representative to our home to interview us about the kinds of assistance that were most important to us. The first companion care aide they sent us was a perfect fit - willing and able to do the tasks we needed, conscientious, reliable, and very good-natured. When we go out on errands, she is always more careful than I about making sure I am safe. When we go grocery shopping, I drive a cart, and she makes sure the coast is clear before I leave an aisle. It is a pleasure to have her with us.

I could not have been more pleased with Home Instead. From the first phone call, to their reps coming out for the assessment, to the last day I needed them, I was so impressed with their professionalism, kindness, skill, service, and care. Not only did I enjoy each caregiver, but they also showed a genuine interest in me, making it very nice to have each one in my home. I am truly grateful for that. The reps who performed the assessments were also lovely and sincere. They fully explained the process, and I was very comfortable and felt well informed. When we needed to communicate with the main office regarding scheduling and other details, it was always pleasant and efficient. I have only good things to say about Home Instead — they are a well-run company that provides competent caregiving with peace of mind to their customers. Very appreciative!

We are very satisfied with the service. Our only complaint is that we aren’t allowed to have the same aide back if we go away for more than a month unless we pay for all the time we are gone. If the aide is available, we should be able to have him/her back. It really messes up the routine that’s been established, and the whole thing has to start over.

Our "caregiver" is the perfect person for us. Although we haven't known each other that long, we feel we have a friend in her. She cares. She really has a knack for getting my husband to engage. That is very important. She is helping me with getting to weekly shopping. More importantly, helping my husband connect.

I am a current client of Home Instead Senior Care. I have been with this company for over 5 years. The caregivers at Home Instead Senior Care are helpful, friendly, compassionate and extremely professional. I have had probably 20 or so different caregivers due to my health needs. All of them have been ready to work and always were friendly. The office staff has been very accommodating , helpful and friendly to me always. The peace of mind that I know my Home Instead Senior Care will always make sure that all is well and my caregiver is the right fit for me. They are 10 stars plus!
I highly recommend Home Instead Senior Care to anyone who needs this type of care. It has help me over the years. With no hesitation, I fully recommend Home Instead Senior Care. I had tried other providers, none of them come close to Home Instead Senior Care and what they offer.

We get along fine- though sometimes I think the caregiver is sticking too much to her rules especially running dishwashes. She says 1x week is the rule- When I say only a few dishes, cut leg (which she handwashes on her 3 mornings a week) means too much.

Kelly is extremely personable and a lof of fun to talk to. He's very helpful around the house. He does my dad's laundry and changes his sheets. He always makes him a healthy lunch and even takes the dog out for a walk several times a day. We're very much enjoying Kelly. He's a great guy and a lot of help.

Home Instead of Silverspring MD provided more than care. They truly took our parent's situation personally like their slogan says. Not only was every caregiver a delight to our parents, but the staff took our situation as personally as they might for their own family members. They were willing to spend unlimited time with us. We received as much care as our parents did!

I am very pleased about every aspect of my care. France anticipated my every need. She is an excellent cook and is trying had to encourage me to eat more. She knows how to shop fo me and is a good companion. She always dresses nice and I can go anywhere with her proudly.
My family likes Frances and when she saw my son, Taylor thanked her for her good care of me.
