About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

Caregivers are consistently competent and friendly. Schedulers work hard to always get me the caregivers I need, even when I call at the last minute.

This group is so professional, caring, organized, so many positive adjectives! My mother had received "help" from two caregiver companies in the past with more than disastrous results. Home Instead, from the first moment of contact by phone with the receptionist, has proven to be the best possible choice. They listen to our concerns with empathy and respond quickly and completely. To say that our stress and anxiety have been reduced is an understatement. Mother feels not only cared for, but cared about; what else could we ask for. Thank you to Home Instead with their wonderful office staff and caregivers for being there when we needed you.

All the caregivers we had for my mother were wonderful. They were caring, concerned, friendly and nurturing to my mother and to our family. The office staff was also helpful and friendly and responded to our questions and concerns.

I have used Home Instead for various needs. They arrive on time. I have used them when I needed someone to drive me to & from a procedure after anesthesia. I have used them for after surgeries. They have driven me to Doctor's visits, groceries, & just errands. All the caregivers did it because they DO care about people. Every time providers are professional. I needed them more than I originally thought after Rotator Cuff surgery & they were flexible/ Can't say enough thanks. Will use them over & over again.

My mother injured her left meniscus and could barely walk. I called Home Instead because I live 100 miles away. They went out the day I called and met my mother. They matched her with a great person. Cassandra.
When my mom had knee replacement she called and checked on her and then when she was in a rehab center she called to check on her and encouraged her to heal and come home. The day mom was released she was there to help her get settled. They have a great relationship and my mom gets superb care. The office staff was very responsive to our needs to restart after rehab. I could not ask for a better experience. Thank you Home Instead.

I called Home Instead in preparation for beginning chemo. They were terrific right from the get go. I stopped service when it was clear I could take chemo and still manage at home. Pat always arrived early so, that was a good reason to sit, sip coffee and talk.... and unfortunately lead to her checking in late a couple of times. She was terrific, the srevices were great and if, I need them, I will call them again.

Would give HomeInstead 100 stars if I could! My mother is home bound/bedridden, and - as the only child - am unable to care for her multiple needs.
HomeInstead has been a God-send!! Wonderful caregivers that not only are by my mother’s side, but also available to help me with housework that I otherwise wouldn’t have time to do.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about this company!!

We had Home Instead come out. They came out and Mom realized she really didn't need anyone. Her granddaughter is there with her and helping her, but she is doing really good now. They were there for four hours. It was good. The girl they sent was super nice. Mom liked her from the time she walked in. We really just needed someone to be with Mom, someone that could talk to her and sit there because she loves to reminiscence, and that person that they had was very good. She was a young girl, but Mom said she was great. She did everything Mom asked her to do. She kept asking, "Can I do something for you?" and Mom was like, "No, no, no," and then finally she told her to get her a coat or something. The girl was very good. She was willing to do anything Mom needed done, which wasn't much, but she did exactly what we wanted her to do, which was to spend time talking to Mom until my granddaughter was able to come and stay with her. I absolutely recommend Home Instead.

The services and care provider are specific to the clients needs. The care provider is exceptional and has been extremely consistent unlike with some service providers. Highly recommend to anyone for their loved ones. I have been using the service almost 18 months and have had the same care giver and always on time! With the same amount of energy! I don’t have any worry with her around.

We have been pleased with Home Instead. We really have not had a negative experience with any of the people they have sent us. The only problem we had getting started a few months ago was that we had different people all the time. They finally settled in and got us the same person whose schedule works with ours. We are now doing Monday and Thursday 1 to 5 because my wife wanted to spread it out a little bit more. My wife has some memory and mobility issues that we have to deal with recently, so we need somebody who got a little bit of patience and a little bit of understanding of seniors and what they go through when they start slipping. Barbara, the one we got right now, has been very good. She fixes dinner, and she does whatever light housekeeping we need. We have not had any problems with her. We have been using Home Instead for a couple of months now.

After undergoing a procedure as an outpatient in the hospital, I needed a ride home since I was unable to drive0. My driver, Marlene, was the most helpful and friendliest person you could ever meet. She had a big smile on her face and made me feel at ease right away. We chatted all the way home. Home Instead was totally there for me helping me with paperwork and their staff was the friendliest and efficient staff helping you along the way. I will definitely use them again. They are someone that can be counted on in a time of need!

I would definitely rate Home Instead very high. The communication was always very good and I was always able to have my questions answered promptly. I would say the highest marks would go to my mother's caregiver, Julie. I can't imagine what we would have done without Julie. She was heaven sent. She took such care in looking after my mother. It was a very tough job as my mother became more ill, and Julie always showed up with a smile, lots of energy and excellent attention to my mother's needs. She became so much more than a caregiver. She became a dear friend to all of us.

It was our second time using Home Instead, and we were very satisfied. I had very good experience with them. My wife had carpal tunnel surgery.
And my wife is my caregiver, so the folks were actually helping both of us.
Helping her bathe and dress, did some things around the house for us. So they help me dress, get ready for bed. I'm confined to a power wheelchair, and I have a lift system in my home, but I have to have help getting in and out of bed, dress, and showering. I was really comfortable with the caregivers and so was my wife.

During the 2 months I recovered at home after hospitalization, two wonderful women from Home Instead did errands and household chores so I could use my limited energy to care for my husband, an amputee on dialysis. I credit their help to my recovery and recommend this friendly, competent agency highly.

Home Instead would have gotten a 5 if they had provided better transportation options for my regular caregiver when her car was at the dealership for repairs so she could keep on seeing me. Also, schedulers did not always keep me up to date of what was happening with my caregiver. I am a client for over 5 years now and have had the same caregiver for most of the time. I am very happy with that; we have become friends.

Home Instead provided well trained, caring, kind and reliable individuals who care for my Mom, 91 years old. As promised, in the rare event our caregiver needed to miss a day, Home Instead provided a replacement after notifying us. I was very reluctant at first to leave my mother in a stranger's care, but the caregivers came in and knew exactly what to do - so they never felt like strangers.

We were in a state of urgency to have someone stay with my parents. When I called the 800 number they put me through to Lynn. She came out within 30 minutes. After evaluating our situation we had 24/7 care started within another 30 minutes. It was such a relief knowing someone was there to help with my parents care and I could have some peace of mind. They went above and beyond my expectations for the week we used this service. I can't say enough good things about them. Due to my parents declining health I'm sure we will use them again. Very compassionate people!!

We have used Home Instead for 8 months now. We've been very pleased with their services and the caretakers they have sent us have been excellent for the most part. There have been some that have been 5 stars and some 3 stars, but all very nice. We still use them occasionally, but do not need them on a regular basis any longer.

We used Home Instead in the past. Some of the caregivers they sent were good, but some weren't, and I didn't like that there were different caregivers. It was hard for my husband to get used to them. A lot of caregivers didn't speak English, and it was hard for my husband to understand. They helped in bathing, personal care, and exercises that the physical therapist laid out. The schedule was not regular; sometimes I was aware of the change, and sometimes not.

Home Instead Senior Care was a life saver to myself & my family when we needed help for our Mother. The professional & loving care they gave to Mom gave me piece of mind while I worked. I never had to worry that the caregiver would not be there, It did take a few tries but the office staff kept working and found the perfect match for Mom. The caregiver & staff went above and beyond to take care of Mom, always asking if they could do anything else to help. I would recommend Home Instead Senior Care to everyone I know!
