About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

My father was in assisted living but need extra individual care. It was difficult to visit him during Covid years and the caretakers from Homestead safely provided the extra care he needed. He had physical issues which made it difficult for him to walk around by himself. The caretakers helped him dress and enabled him to go the group dining room and have meals with the other residents. As he became more impaired, the caretakers made sure he ate his meals and helped him with his personal grooming.
In the last few weeks of his life, our case worker made sure we had enough caretakers to comfort him during the times we had to take a break were unable to be present. They made a very difficult time easier to cope with.

The staff at Home Instead are truly care givers. They have a proven staff of administrative individuals who truly want, and do, take care of their clients.
I am blessed to have the caregiver that they have assigned to me. This individual is one in 1 million.

Dad has been using Home Instead for almost 2 years. He is able to stay in his house because of the great care he is receiving from Home Instead. Dad had a stroke 10 years ago and has partial use of his dominant hand.
He has two different caregivers, Kathy and Margaret. Both are excellent caregivers. Kathy has been with Dad the longest. She goes to the grocery which is a big help to me. Dad always looks forward to seeing them and I feel confident that his needs are being met.

out of my trunk when we go to my

I could have missed with the doctors.
She is very good about getting here on time.
She always listen to what i have to say and
does what I ask of her.The agency has been

to replace her . They really do try.

Home Instead provided care to my mom for 2 years and then for my dad for 3 months. Connie is still considered part of our family. For my mom, they helped bathe, dress, and feed her. It allowed all of us to be together as a family. For my dad, they did the same and also helped me get him to and from his frequent doctor appointments. They helped with all the cooking, cleaning, and laundry. I will be forever grateful to the whole Home Instead team for helping me take care of my loved ones.

We would like to have known more about the process of deciding what caregiver they send to a particular client. We would like to have known more about the people they sent before we met them for the first time, and my husband wishes he could have known how flexible they were with their schedules.
Our primary caregiver, Bob, is very proactive in meeting my husband's needs, has very good time management skills, and motivates him to complete tasks and exercises. Bob accompanies him to many doctor appts, is quite attentive, and takes excellent notes.

Mye has been my parents caregiver for a year and we absolutely love her. She is a part of our family now. Mye has a very strong work ethic. She is always on time and very dependable. She is a rare gem.

Roxxi is so good with my demented wheelchair bound father. She takes excellent care of him. She's always professional. We really like her. She's in time. She feeds him and helps him with toileting. She helps him with his exercises, bathing, and changing his clothes. Always willing to help. We want her to keep coming back.

My caregiver is a friend I can talk to. she is like family to me. Kay has done a great job. She is prompt and calls me if she is going to be late. She takes me to my appointments. She runs errands for me.

Home instead was quick to answer questions and is always willing to have someone come to us when we have questions. April and Emily from the office went over all expectations and information we needed to feel comfortable with home care as well as making sure we all got their direct contact info. We got assigned a wonderful care worker, Brenda, and cannot say enough about her professionalism, empathy, and compassion. We know that Dad is being well taken care of plus he has always felt comfortable around her from the beginning. We have been pleased by the consistency and responsiveness that Melisa has done for us while scheduling and figuring out what would be the best schedule for dad.

Brenda Pontius hit it off great with Dad and I on day one. Brenda and I complement each other well, in managing Dad's evolving care at my home.
Brenda provided many caregiving tips to improve Dad's walking and quality of life at age 87. Dad went from wheelchair, to walker, to non-assisted walking in only 15 days!
Brenda is very competent and sincere in her holistic caregiving. I trust Brenda to care for Dad one-on-one (plus do my housework) while I go grocery shopping.
I enjoy my respite break while Brenda relieves my caregiving stress!

Home Instead made an enormous difference in the last 6 months of our mother’s life. They provided a caregiver 7 days a week for 4 hours. She was always punctual and helpful in letting us know how mom’s day was going. When we had schedule changes, Home Instead was quick and responsive. We had peace of mind that Dianna would be there everyday. This made the simplest things a lot less stressful for the family members who were ‘on the ground’ daily. Mom’s caregiver was dedicated, kind, gentle and understood the the mindset of our mother. She was a tremendous comfort to mom and to the family. I love my caregiver, Lisa. She takes care of me and is interested in my life. The office is professional and timely with any requests I bring to them. Home Instead Senior Care's caregivers are friendly and sociable. We have a problem with some of the caregivers interacting with my wife when I am there because she will want to hang out with me instead of her caregivers. It gives me a relief when I'm not there though.

I wasn't happy with Home Instead Senior Care because they kept sending people who thought they could sleep. Home Instead Senior Care made my life worse by frustrating me because I had to check several times in the night to make sure the caregivers were awake.

I would be more likely to recommend Home Instead Senior Care if they would have more availability when I need them on an as needed basis, if they would have more communication with me when I call in with a problem, and if they would have more communication between departments. The services have definitely made me more independent, and I definitely would have gone into a nursing home without Home Instead Senior Care.

I had an up and down experience at first with Home Instead Senior Care, but I have a caregiver now that is working well. It was a little frustrating that my husband had to go with four different caregivers, but the office dealt with the issues pretty well, and I am pleased with his current caregiver. We were very pleased with the caregiver of Home Instead. There was a little communication problem initially in getting things set up. We were told they were going to start out on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, but they didn’t have it on the schedule after I was assured that was taken care of. People were supposed to call me back, and they didn’t. Finally, I got a hold of the lady, who I initially had talked to at our home, and she told me that somebody was going to be here on Monday after Thanksgiving, which she did. Then we really liked the caregiver, and we’d have her come back again if we could. We just had some communication bumps in getting started with them.
