As a Certified Alzheimer’s & Dementia Educator (CAEd) we are highly committed to services related to Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

The caregivers help me by making the bed and washing the sheets. She helps me with laundry. She vacuums and does other things I cannot do.
I would love to have more communication from the office staff.

The caregiver is having a hard time getting here on time. We are trying to get it worked out.
They seem like they care about the clients. Some of the caregivers are not a good fit. I do not blame the company for that though.

I would be more likely to recommend them if the care providers gave each other reports, and they listened better.

I am using Home Helpers Wheaton. They have been pretty easy to work with. They respond to my requests. The ladies that I met that have come to my home, I felt were all very good. I really don't have any complaints at all. There is really nothing that they have fallen down on. They provide basic services, like making sure my husband takes his meds, preparing a couple meals, and companionship. There is no overnight, helping with dressing, or anything like that. All of the women seemed as though they're very comfortable with it, and they're very kind.

The weekend staff is not turning her or changing her diaper as much. They are not feeding her properly. I am not sure that they care as much.
One of the caregivers stole from us. They said they screen the people.

If there has been billing questions or scheduling conflicts it is very easy to get in touch with someone.
The caregiver does a very good job. The client can be prickly and set in her ways. The caregiver does an excellent job with her. When there are issues it's really easy to reach out to get ahold of someone by phone.

I would like to have them more because they help me a lot. They do things that I can't do. They even take the garbage out for us. He lifts heavy things and goes downstairs for me.
The way she builds things every week, I know where I am at. The aide does a lot of work around the house that I wouldn't even ask him to do, but he volunteers. He does what I cannot do since I don't have the strength anymore.

I can leave for the gym and not worry about a thing the whole time I am gone. I can leave the house, go to the gym, and do some running around and not worry about anything.
They have helped me twice now and they have always provided what I need for my dad. We are waiting on therapy to begin. The caregiver, Pauline, does everything I ask. I am very happy. They bent their hours around to find somebody that could meet our needs.

The agency can't do anything to make her life easier. It's not the agency. My mom is not receptive to have someone in her house. The caretakers do what they can. There is nothing the agency can do.
I like that Home Helpers are very communicative with me and helpful with getting care in and matching the needs of my parents.

My current caregiver cooks and cleans the house for me. She vacuums, washes floors, and lots more.
The current caregiver I have is very good, but previous night caregivers just slept on the couch, all of them did that!

The caregivers that were sent where incapable of handling the work because of their age. I also did not work very well with them.
They sent me people that did not fit the needs of my father. I needed someone that was mobile that could help my father.

She was up and moving, doing puzzles, getting her medications, being read to, and overall having fun. They also made food and had nice conversations. They made sure she had enough to drink.
Some caregivers had to leave early, and the replacement couldn't come right away, so I had to step in during the gaps. I didn't want that to happen, since we agreed to a 24/7 arrangement.

I really don't have any complaints and I appreciate having someone cook healthy for him, he has dementia. I am not well versed in dementia, but one time the client turned on a coffee machine and when the caregiver came the coffee was burned. That is more of my problem.
They have really good communication, especially with the caretaker and supervisor, I can reach them by phone or by text.

Whenever I leave the house my mom is cared for.
My father had Alzheimer's, and we had a stellar caregiver. He got caregiver of the year. We have had quite a challenge to get someone that we like since then. The people that they have been sending are nowhere near what we had with the other guy.

I think the initial consultation was a good idea. She tried to make the glove fit from the start and helped them fit with my mother's specific needs. They did coaching to help bring up some things that can be worked on. It worked well.

They were more calm, and they would still try to get her to eat something near the end, even though she was trying to eat. They seemed more compassionate.
Some of the communication wasn't as good as we expected. Some of the caretakers weren't all that wonderful.

Home Helpers had a match for us almost instantaneously; just within the day or so. The caregiver comes four days a week. He tends to my husband, gets him up, does exercises with him, and transfers my husband from wheelchair to walker. He also vacuums, gets the mail, and does some minor chores around the house. He's very competent, reliable, and is a very nice person. It's been very good.
