About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

A specific caregiver arrives at the appointed time and calls into the agency. She also calls the agency before leaving. Over the year we have employed Home Instead Senior Care, we have revised the list of tasks through the office staff.

The service and caregivers Home Instead provides are excellent. The management and office staff are very responsive and professional. I have very positive involvement with the Home Instead office staff and the caregivers. Both Melanie Fisher and Kenya Smith provide caring, understanding, attentive, and compassionate service for my wife. They engage her in conversation for mental stimulation. They show caring every day by giving above and beyond what is required. My wife has the best care possible because of the qualities and characteristics of the caregivers. This is because of the care this Home Instead office takes in providing these high quality caregivers. I am very pleased with everything this Palos Heights office provides and supervises.

We have had the same two ladies for over a year. The are 24hr caregivers and because there is Alzheimer’s/dementia I’m happy the schedule is solid and there is even a regular back up if needed. The office is always easy to reach and they contact me immediately if there is ever a need or concern. The ladies are very attentive and are always with her.

Sue is our caregiver at present. She does a great job for my husband John and me. Sue is compassionate, understanding, and her services are helpful. Thank you. My husband laughs allot when they play catch. I recently had surgery on my finger, Sue peeled potatoes, unscrewed bottle caps, opened cans for me, etc.

My mom is stricken with Alzheimer's, and she also broke her neck. This is our first experience with home care, and we were so nervous about it all, but we were given Home Instead's name by a friend whose friend had used them and then also, another friend of mine had heard great things about them as well. We met with them, and they were very kind and compassionate, understood our needs, our concerns, our being so uneasy with trusting someone with my mom. I have to say, I am so grateful that we took that leap of faith because our two main caregivers, Tiffany and Charlene, were FANTASTIC. My mom connected with them right away, and all she talked about were her new friends and how much she loved them!! :-) Caregivers, good ones, have a gift, and they are angels on this earth!! Tiffany and Charlene, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so good to my mom, so loving, so patient, so kind, and so encouraging!!! You both have put our minds at ease!! I wish you all the best in your lives!! Thank you again....

My caregiver, Lynn, has been with me for 4 1/2 years. In this time, Lynn has gone from part time to full time, and successfully runs my home. She is efficient, caring, thorough, truthful, and dependable. I can always count on her knowledge, and her ability to make me laugh. I never have to worry when Lynn is in charge. She makes life palatable. Thanks Lynn and Home Instead.

We are very happy with Home Instead they meet all of our needs. My dad's caregiver Michelle is wonderful and keeps my dad engaged throughout the day as well as helping my mom with his daily care. She also is willing to come on the weekends on an as needed basis. I highly recommend Home Instead.

Home Instead is always ready to accommodate us, and your scheduling has been perfect, and communication excellent. The three helpers from Home Instead are superb. They're always cheerful, considerate, and willing to tackle any task we might ask them to do. Not only that, but they are quite observant and voluntarily tackle anything that they think needs their attention.

All of the services of Home Instead and all of their caregivers were excellent. I chose them because I just liked when I spoke to them, what they offered, and everything. I have had several caregivers because of different hours of the day, but all of them have been very attentive. I have nothing but good experiences with them. They are very cooperative. I have no problems at all.

So far the caregiver that Home Instead Senior Care gave us has been great. My grandmother needs too much help at this point and she's been really nice. She took the time to know my grandmother like talking to her and make sure she's comfortable. We've been using them for a couple of weeks now.

Professional and had all the bases covered when I inquired about in home help for my mom. Caregivers were accountable and honest. I have only used Home Instead for a few months but feel that it has made a difference in my mom's disposition. She fights the idea but seems to get along fine with caregiver and is in a better mood that day when I talk with her after work.
