About This Community

Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.

Home Instead - Caregiver Skills

Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.

Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.

Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.

Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

January 8, 2023 We knew as soon as we met Ariana in September 2021 that she would be an ideal fit for our loved one. Always on time, kind, considerate, and productive, it is like a match made in heaven. Her ability to remain calm and understanding throughout our loved one's various states of mental, physical, and emotional needs is a testimony to her strong character and training with Home Instead. We also trust Ariana to perform various tasks, from driving, medical appointments, family correspondence, meal planning and preparation, cleaning, garden tending, shopping, and caring for many aspects of the home. Jodi and Kelsey from Home Instead in Kailua, Hawaii are awesome! They treat my mom like family. I live around a block and a half away from Windward Mall so when the weather permits, they’ll push my mom in a wheelchair to the mall. I really appreciate their constant efforts to make my mom feel comfortable and entertained.

Without the professional staff and wonderful CAREgivers at Home Instead the challenge of having my 91-year-old mom age in place at home would be overwhelming. Margie is tops, taking care of light housekeeping and meal preparation with ease and humor. She is a loving companion for Mom as well! Thanks Home Instead!

Home Instead Senior Care has been a God send for our family. Patti has been so amazing and such a tremendous blessing. I can tell that she truly cares about my father, she's not just simply doing a job - I feel like she's treating my father like her own family. She takes him to pick up lunch, for walks, she purchased house slippers for him because she noticed his had holes in them, and she's started taking him to his doctor's appointments when she can and that has helped us SO much! In the very beginning, my father, who has dementia, was very against having someone come into his house and he kept telling us we were "wasting our money". But, now I can tell that he trusts her and even looks forward to when he knows she's coming. Thank you Patti for caring for our father and giving us peace of mind that someone so kind and compassionate is caring for our father while we're at work.

I was very reluctant to try a senior care program for my mother as I wasn't sure how comfortable she would be or how I would feel having to have someone else care for her. Home instead Kailua exceeded my expectations and made the process of transitioning the care Of my mother by myself to someone else seamless. Every interaction I had with all the people I've encountered at Homestead was compassionate and professional. The initial greeting from Alex instilled confidence in those that will be be providing the care. Nizzq the supervisor of the caregivers explained exactly what was going to happen and took the time to alleviate any fears i may have had. We had wonderful care from all of the caregivers assigned to my mom however I would like to make a special note about Ariana and Ashlee who managed to get my mom to do more for herself and inquired with me about household chores that they could do. When I came home from work my house was sparkling and my mom was happy.

My caregiver was more family than worker, she took care of everything, always on time, never complained or misused time. Home Instead office always called me if there was a schedule change or if my helper was out and offered a replacement for the day. Everybody is so caring and kind, they are easy to trust.

Home Instead took care of my mom. Their staff provided help with meals, dressing, and other activities of daily living. The intake process was straightforward, simple, and well-explained. Schedulers did their utmost to ensure a match between the caregivers and our family's needs. Schedulers, supervisors, and managers were very accessible and responsive to questions and concerns. Every caregiver was on time, polite, and helpful. When my mom's condition changed and she needed to have consistent staffing, Home Instead MADE IT HAPPEN! This company has the client's best interest in mind and is truly amazing! As an acute care RN, my expectations are high and Home Instead met them.

Caregivers provided to care for Mom were compassionate and reliable. Butch and Kyle (office) bent over backward to accommodate Mom's 24/7 shifts. They were very kind, efficient AND proactive in every single communication with our family.

Home Instead was nice to work with. Before we hired them, Butch came over to the house. He met my mom and looked at our house to check on it because they were actually checking mobility; I guess some houses are too messy or too cluttered. We went over their provided services, and he asked what we really needed. Mostly what I needed was somebody to help my mom in the shower while taking a bath. He made it easy for me to look at the schedule. He checked the bathroom to make sure that it was OK. They were really good. It only used them for about a month, but that whole month went pretty smoothly. The administrator or the director was very good about following up. He called and asked if we will continue the service.
