We used Bayshore Home Care for my parents quite a while back. The doctor had ordered it for my father back in 2007. He passed in 2008. So, initially the care was for my father. When my dad passed away, they started caring for my father. My brother and I have asked them to come in because we knew them from caring for my father. We had them come in a couple of hours a week for my mother. They came in and helped my mother with daily living tasks. My mother had surgery and she had weakness on her left side of her body. She couldn't take a shower and she couldn't reach so they would help her with her shower. They would help her get dressed and keep her company. She had been lonely because after my dad died she started to fall. I was coming everyday to see her. They also go for walks with her. I think most of the time the caregivers are pretty good. Occasionally, they would send somebody young and my mother being an older person she was like 85 when we started it. She got along well with people but they started bring ladies on their 40's and 50's and my mother could relate to them better. The nurse would come out and check on my mother to make sure she was doing ok. They would check if the plan needs to be changed. As she was getting older, she was needing more care and we increased the hours.

A friend of mine knows the owners of Bayshore Home Care and so I decided to go with them. Everything has been satisfactory. We have Dorothy and she understands our additional requirements and things like that. She's willing to go along with not being able to wear any make up, perfume, cologne and use my own cleaning stuff. It's just imperative that I cant have any fragrance because I have such a severe allergy to it. Dorothy comes on Tuesday and Friday. She gives my husband a shower and sort his clothes for him. She does light housekeeping and drives us to the doctor. Sometimes she does our grocery shopping too. She just practically does whatever we need. What I like about her is that she is very understanding of our problems. She is willing to help in any way she can.
