About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

I enjoy employing the services of Home Instead. The staff is friendly, professional, courteous, and reliable. I use the services of a caregiver in a regular basis, two days a week, four hours a day, and that suits my needs. The caregiver that they send has been a great help to me, in providing transportation to medical appointments, shopping, etc. as well as helping me with household tasks. One those occasio9ns that she is unavailable, a Home Instead contacts me and arranges a suitable substitute. I would gladly recommend Home Instead for the services they provide!

My caregiver is great. She knows when I need help,but she also knows when to let me try things by myself. She’s always tuned into my needs. She does little things that make feel cared for....like turning back my bed and cleaning around my chair. She’s open to doing things that need to be done around the house. I don’t know how we’d get along without her.

Last minute requirement to have someone accompany me to a procedure. Request handled quickly and professionally. Caregiver on time the following day, careful driver, and very accommodating. Would use again if needed.

I called on short notice (one day before) needing an Aide to take me to day surgery and take me home after procedure. The day of procedure the Aide, Marlene was at my home on time. She is a wonderful person who was very professional, warm, and interesting to be around. I cannot say enough good things about her. A day when I was nervous to say the least and she was always calm and collected. Thank you to everyone who set this up so easily and so quickly and thank you Marlene.

All the caregivers were so good with my father who is 91. We had a problem that turned out to be our fault. But when I called after hours, Sheila called me right back. Then a manager called, and the next morning, the CEO called me amazing personal care.

I can not speak highly enough of Home Instead Jacksonville. They have provided care for my aunt for over a year and the services that have provided have been outstanding. They provide care 7 days a week for 21 hours a day. The caregivers have been very consistent, arrive on time, and very helpful to my aunt with her needs. They are professional, customer focused, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. Due to these services Homeinstead has provided, they have enriched my aunt’s life, allowed her to maintain her independence, but more important have allowed to stay in her home which was something extremely important to her. Furthermore, due to the challenge of me living long distance, over 600 miles away from Florida, Doug M. and his staff, have always had open and direct communication with me providing critical feedback and updates/notes from caregiver visits. This allowed me to make modifications to schedules or add new services quickly and timely. They have always been very responsive to my requests or calls. The services provided have enhanced my aunt life by maintaining her independence and her wish to stay within her home. I highly recommend any of their services.

Care is provided 6/7 days a week. The staff is friendly and professional. The do a wonderful job trying to find the caregiver for your needs. The caregivers dress in professional uniforms and are friendly. The office welcomes feedback negative or positive.

Home Instead provides 24-hour care to my parents. They generally arrive on time, except occasionally when a new caregiver starts and is unfamiliar with the area. When this happens, the employee always calls to let us know.
Caregivers are generally extremely responsive to suggestions and eager to work with clients' changing needs. Additionally the administrative staff works hard to fill in gaps in the schedule and accommodate my parents' preferences.

They are awesomel- large pool of caregivers and the shift is always filled when you request it. Will definitely use their services again if the need arises in the future!

My experience with Home Instead has been OK. The caregiver's attitude is fine. They establish a routine of things that need to be done. My husband showers and shaves and then they will cut his nails and take him for a walk. They also talk to him. He likes to discuss different topics.

Home Instead has been very good, dependable, and did everything that we needed. They were available when I needed them; that is why I chose them. The caregiver is very good and competent. I have a caregiver two days a week.

I had broken a leg, but now I'm back on my feet. I did use Home Instead. I was very pleased with their service. I had several girls from their agency. I really didn't require much care because I was pretty much independent and my son's in a nursing school so he helped me a little bit. Mostly, the home aides worked around my home helping me with household chores. If I would need to use some more help in the future, I would call them. I'm very much satisfied with their service.

As both a professional in the healthcare field, and a caregiver to my parents, I have found the services of Home Instead Senior care to be outstanding. I have referred many caregivers to them. They are customer service oriented, always trying to match the client with the right caregiver, courteous and responsive. One of the many attractive things about their services is their backup system. If one of their staff can't make it to a shift, they already have someone in line who can. An important service in this field!! Can't say enough good things about them!

Home Instead has been a lifesaver for my Mom. Her caregiver is wonderfully attentive, always prompt, reliable, cheerful and very patient with her as the dementia progresses. The rates are very competitive and fair. Our whole family is very happy with Home Instead and would highly recommend this agency to anyone.

My mother and father in law recently joined the Home Instead Senior Care community and have had nothing but good things to say about it. Prior to this they have been maintaining the lifestyles the were used to, but were finding that some tasks and chores were proving too taxing to do on a regular basis, even when they needed to be. Further more, they worried about each other when one was out of the house and the other stayed at home. At first we all looked at some assisted living and retirement homes in the region, but my in-laws didn't want to leave their home at this stage and give up their mobility. So they decided to try the Home Instead Senior Care. Since then, when we have gone to visit them, their home is better taken care of, they are much happier, and all of us can relax since we know that someone is checking up on them and helping them prepare meals among other things without being intrusive.
