About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

I have a lady that comes out from Home Instead. I've been using them for about three or four years now. I use them all the time, three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. My caregiver is very friendly and very beautiful. She does everything she's supposed to do. She keeps my house. I love her personality. The agency keeps up with what she does and if she's not able to come, they make sure they let me know. They're prompt with everything. I'm not the last to know anything, and I really love my caregiver. They provide homecare and if I need certain things. She does light housekeeping and provides companionship. They let me know if she's not able to come in and they'll send a replacement, but I don't want a replacement because I like Eileen in my house. I don't like different people in my house. I'm used to her and I trust her. I have no problem with them. I don't want another agency. I like them.

I've been using Home Instead for two years now. I like their cleaning service. I have a lady come on Monday and a lady come on Wednesday. They go to the store for me, and they do the laundry. We have a laundry department in the building, and they could put it in there. If I needed to put something on the stove, they will help me. They're good. I've been satisfied with their service.

Dave and Kim are excellent companions. Dave takes me to the doctors and goes to the store, walks my dog, gets my mail and even does some cleaning he's very helpful and Kim is very helpful also she does practically the same except she doesn't take me to the doctors to friendly to talk to and are very caring people i appreciate them

My homemaker does an excellent job of cleaning my home. She is almost always on time, never more than 10 minutes late. She's friendly and easy to work with.

The attention i get from my caregive Maria is really nice. I love when she gives me a warm wash cloth in the mornimg to freshen up before getting out of bed. Its the little things i appreciate the most.

I have been a client with home instead for about 3 years. I absolute recomend this agency. I have 2 great caregivers, Naty and Madelyn. Both of these ladies are great. They have helped me with my physical therapy exercizes among other things and i have regained my strength. They encourage me to do better and that hekps bust my confidence inmyself. They are 2 angels sent to me. I have recommended this agency to a friend also. I would give them more stars if it was possible.

This is the only agency that have provided care for my 100 yrs old father, cause from day one, they have been excellent int their care. No need to try other agencies. The caregiver, Maria, shows a lot of concern for my fathers well-being. She’s caring compassionate and very professional. Her nice carácter makes my Father’s Day. He enjoys her company a lot. She’s always on time and never absent from her duty. When there is a situation with my father, this agency responds promptly, in a very timely fashion and with a very adequate solution. I feel very lucky I have such nice helpers on our life’s. Thank you, Home Instead for your care and good service.

My mother has been a Home Instead client for approx. 7 years and currently receives 24/7 care. A number of caregivers have been with her consistently for 3-4 years and proven to be genuinely caring, patient, communicative, and reliable. Duties have included anything from personal care such as bathing and dressing, to meal preparation, driving to medical appointments, and taking on outings such as church or grocery shopping. Office staff have also been kind and responsive when a problem has arisen.

So many problems! They are constantly understaffed. New aides weekly so there is no continuation of care where someone knows what you need because they are new. Aides frequently claim to work all their hours even when significantly late or have even no showed. They have sent aides with little to no English language skills into our home where we do not speak Spanish. Do not trust your loved ones with this company. After months of not being able to cover the hours I am prescribed and a hospitalization due to the fact I was alone I finally had enough. My requests have fallen on deaf ears. Before I could even cancel service I was informed that they are completely unable to cover Seminole County, even though I’m less than a mile from UCF and they have coverage to clients on the front of the campus?!?!

My 90 year old mother was thoroughly pleased with her care giver, Lakisha, from Home Instead Senior Care in Orlando, FL. Lakisha visited my mother's home weekly to provide light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and assistance with shopping and getting her to medical appointments on time. Lakisha's assistance to my mother allowed my mother to continue to live in her home as she aged and removed a lot of stress from our working family members knowing she was in good hands. My family and I would not hesitate in calling Home Instead in Orlando again for her care.

Home Instead has helped me manage a family member's needs for companionship and transportation for over a year. In every respect, the company has been excellent. My brother was well cared for and treated with respect. All our caretakers were exceptionally skilled and thoughtful. Donald in particular did a remarkable job. Always on time, always willing to go beyond what was asked, and proactive in meeting my brother's needs. Administrators have also been good to work with. Never any difficulties with scheduling, billing, etc. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Home Instead in the future.
