About This Community
Home Instead is a non-medical provider of personal care, companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, errands, incidental transportation and even Alzheimer's and dementia care. Our CAREGivers encourage, assist, and stimulate our clients in a variety of activities that improve their quality of life and help them maintain their independence. All of these services allow a senior to stay HOME INSTEAD for a longer period of time.
Home Instead - Caregiver Skills
Safety training on home safety, avoiding injury and falls, preventing strain and pain, safety in the kitchen, cautious cleaning, safe driving, outdoor safety hazards, and disease protection and prevention.
Basic training on emergency situations including stroke, falls and fractures and sudden illness, communication tips including communicating to those with dementia or Alzheimer's, activities for seniors to engage in, mealtime preparations, housekeeping tips, signs of abuse, and tips on reducing caregiver stress.
Advanced training on understanding senior illnesses and conditions, depression in seniors, caregiver stress, in-home exercise for older adults, making mealtime fun, communication tips with the senior, their family, and the caregiver's franchise office.
Activity training including reminiscing activities, modifying activities, activities in facilities, adapting activities for those with impairments, different types of engaging activities for older adults such as gardening, mind builders, and crafts and hobbies, and getting a senior involved in the community in places like senior centers, worship services, volunteering and errands.

My Dad has part time assistance; 4 hours a day/3 days a week. The staff member is prompt and the agency keeps in touch if there are any changes in scheduling. The caregiver is like a friend of the family, helpful and caring. The agency has frequently assessed his level of care as needed. They accept long term care insurance.

Fantastic home care for my 89 year old mom. The staff is always very friendly and very caring. They are very professional in their approach. They try to be very accommodating to changing needs and respond promptly to any inquiry or concern.

Home I stead makes it possible for my Dad to stay as independent as possible in the comfort of his own home. His aide comes to his home assists with bathing, laundry, cleaning, cooking and food shopping. She provides companionship and at this time of pandemic quarantine I feel comfortable with his choice to remain at home.

Meeting Pam and Home Instead of Volusia County was nothing short of a miracle. Like many others, my need for in-home assistance for my mom happened very quickly and time was not on my side. Within two or three days, we had a weekly schedule and I had peace of mind. When the need changed, Home Instead was very accommodating. This included a PANIC call at 9:30 on a Thursday night to find additional help for Friday morning.
The caregivers are so nice and knowledgable. They helped me understand what my mom was going through and what I could expect. The only reason why we are no longer working with Home Instead is that my mom moved in with us in Orlando. I really wanted to continue working with HI in Daytona and was so sad to work with a different company. The HI in the Orlando market was okay, but they didn't have Pam. She made the world of difference to me. I highly recommend the caregivers for HI Daytona Beach.

Home Instead responded quickly and compassionately to my immediate need, providing home health aides for my 94 dad, enabling him to continue to live independently. Care givers were terrific. Ruby S. and Kim R. patiently answered all my questions, rapidly coordinating care. They hire, train and supervise all staff, unlike ‘registry’ agencies that simply match up client and publicly listed care giver, leaving the client or family member to oversee. This was critical since I live 1000 mikes away. I highly recommend them.

We're using Home Instead Senior Care Daytona Beach Volusia but I'm a little disappointed. Some of the caregivers are better than others. Most of the time they are prompt, but I have 2 caregivers fell asleep on me. I have them from 10:00 at night to 10:00 in the morning, so they put my husband to bed and they're with him through the night. Then when he wakes up in the morning, they shower and dress him, and get him breakfast. The value for the money could be better. Some aides do more than others while some just don't do enough.

This service was a blessing. Everyone from the office staff to the aid that came out was exceptional and went above and beyond. The emotional range of feelings a person experiences having to call upon a service to help for a loved one is beyond words but is best understood by people who have gone through a similar experience. I called upon Home Instead for my mother and will be using the service again once I transition her to my home which will be in the very near future.
I highly recommend their service!

Home Instead Senior Care has been providing care for my mom for over three years including a transition of moving from her home to an Independent Living Facility. Home Instead has been just great. We have been able to have the same Aide during this time, Traci who is very dependable has really bonded with mom and she is flexible, caring and goes out of her way to provide the best care while keeping mom as independent as possible. Mom has had to give up driving over this past year and Traci takes her to doctor's apportionment's, shopping and to her activities which has made the difficult decision to stop driving much easier for mom. The staff is professional and responsive and the the care provided has been wonderful. Truly a great company that believes in providing quality, consistent care in a professional and personal manner so you feel that you matter. . I would not hesitate to highly recommend!

My father fell and broke his hip and after many months in rehab he was able to return to his assisted living facility. Home Instead provided excellent service while he was making the adjustment to the assisted living. They are very professional and Pam M. did a great job in explaining services, making everything clear. The aides were reliable, pleasant, and eager to please. We had an excellent experience with Home Instead.

The Caregiver Home Instead provided is a very good match for my Mom. She's a happy person, Patient, Fun loving and willing to do whatever is needed for my mom that day. Beyond my expectations she cleans up and is very thorough.
I was very hesitant to ask for help - I am the sole caregiver and thought I had to do it all myself. But I don't - Home Instead Caregiver provides a break twice a week. Even more importantly, it gives my mom something to look forward to and interesting new conversations and experiences that I could not provide for her.
It was a good decision for our family.

Our caregiver Elizabeth M. is a gem. She always goes above and beyond for us. She does things before we even ask. She is always looking for something to do. She feeds our dog and takes him for walks. He adores her as much as we do!

We use Home Instead Senior Care for my mother and it provides me with peace of mind to know she has someone who can assist her as I work full time. Her Caregiver Traci is great and will help with whatever is requested. The staff have been very accommodating and I truly value their service and mom is very pleased.

Our granny sitter got a job at home at the last minute and we had to come up with a daytime granny sitter for a ten day trip we were taking. My sons friend recommended home instead and gave him the number for the coordinator. They made it happen. They came to the house to meet my mother in law twice. They took notes on what we told them her routine was it went swimmingly. They were great my mother in law was so happy with them as were we. We plan on looking into it when we go home so we can take a break. She is not really an invalid but she is petrified of being alone. She was at my sons and he was with her except while he was at work and the caretakers were there during the day to keep her company, make sure she ate and took the correct pills. Will definitely use them again. Great job on the recommendation Rhonda,coordinating it Pam, and watching her Anthony and Janelle. You are all GREAT!!!!! I'd give ten stars if they were available

I have been receiving services from HISC for many years. I have enjoyed all of my caregivers except one. I called the office and they immediately replaced her with a different caregiver. My caregiver Tammy is the best I have ever had. She is so attentive, caring and fun to be with.

Home Instead Senior Care of Port Orange, Florida, cared for my elderly parents for over 5 years. There were never any issues or concerns with their care. All of the employees were professional, compassionate, and patient. My parents felt well cared for, and the caregivers became "part of the family." Living in Indiana, it wasn't always easy for family to visit. The caring people from Home Instead provided peace of mind. This company deserves 5 stars!

Our caregiver, Debra, has a great sense of humor. She is not intrusive, never loud and is always on time. She treats my wife, who has dementia, with dignity. She takes her to the fitness center. She makes large meals so we have leftovers. She makes our bed and does our laundry. She is like family to us.

I have been with Home Instead for 2 years. I am wheelchair bound so I appreciate their timeliness. They are predictable beyond words. They are very thoughtful and caring. Home Instead has been providing 24-hour care in our home for 2 years. All of our caregivers have been wonderful. They come into our home and do things the way I like them done. Tina is a wonderful cook. Beth does a great job in grocery, shopping, takes us out to eat and to the beach. They take Bob to art classes and other outings. Our caregivers are like family.

I have been very pleased with the quality of care and the high level of service my loved one has received from Home Instead. My loved one lives 900 miles away from me, so I cannot be readily available for minor problems. Increasing or extending services is always easily accomplished. The agency representatives keep in regular contact with my loved one and notify me if concerns or issues arise. My loved one has enjoyed the interaction with his caregivers and is very satisfied too.

This is an outstanding outfit, excellently run by Therese. I hired them to take care of my mother, 24 hours a day for the last two years of her life. The people who took care of her were kindest people you'd ever know and and my mother thought the world of them.
