I have an autoimmune disease and so the services are helping to keep me out of a wheelchair.
I like that I have been able to have the same nurse for almost three years. She feels like family now.

The best thing they do is get my wife cleaned up, dressed, fed and exercised.
They need to get more qualified and experienced aides. A lot of them are younger and are not very experienced.

I'm the one who made all arrangements and they've been very helpful for my mother. They're very nice women.
They need to be very straightforward about what they will and will not do. The administration needs to be truthful and stay on track.

I don't see my family or anyone as much because I am house bound. She has a nice bright attitude. I know she has a smile even when she has the mask on.
I have the most wonderful nurse ever. The people I have to deal with on getting my supplies are perfect. I am totally happy with them.

I needed help, and we got help to do everything. I would be gone for 4 or 5 hours, and they would have to feed him and do his personal care.
They were right on time, and they took good care of him. He had dementia and they were patient with him. They would do anything that I asked them.

They send me a nurse that sends me an infusion that takes 6 hours. They are very consistent.
They are responsive to difficulties. That is the most important thing. A couple of times we needed their advice, support, or a different caregiver. I screwed up the scheduling and they fixed it immediately.

It allowed me to stay at home and sit in front of the television while they administered the antibiotics.
I liked that the nurse's were all conscientious and very congenial. They took care of me and did all of the required work for my antibiotics.

Most of the caretakers I've dealt with are nice and dependable. Not all of them.

I love night time caregivers, and I don't worry about my sister because the caregiver doesn't ignore her. I went with another agency for the day shift because the last good caregiver of BrightStar Care will be going to school.
You have a caregiver calendar, but it is constantly changing. They only have a few caregivers that are good.

As an out of town family member, I needed someone to take care of my elderly mother who was discharged from the ER after a fall and was returning home to live alone. Prior to her fall she was completely independent. I needed to find someone that could assist her in her home with everyday activities as she was unable to do very much for herself while recovering from the fall. In Home Health Care was ordered by the physician but did not cover the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) which are routine activities people do every day without assistance. There are six basic ADLs: eating, bathing, getting dressed, toileting, transferring, and continence. I was referred to BrightStar Care by a Social Services Case worker in the hospital. I reached out to BrightStar Care (Greater Volusia County Area of FL) to speak to someone and the Director of Operations, Masha, answered the phone and answered ALL of my questions, which were comprehensive, as I had need and experience in the past for other loved ones with these types of services.
Masha arranged for her Director of Nursing, Noah, and Scheduler, Terah, to come to my mother’s home and the four of us sat down together and discussed specifically what BrightStar Care could do for my mother and what our expectations of BrightStar Care were. My main concern was that I wanted to be sure that any caregivers assigned to assist my mother were not only competent but trustworthy! Masha does this type of in- home interview with her team members to determine the needs of the client as well as assess the client’s physical and cognitive needs in order for Masha to best assist her, with feedback from Noah and Terah, to pair up what BrightStar Care hopes to be a good match up for both caregiver and client! Noah even went to the trouble to purchase, hand deliver and install on his own time, a hand-held shower attachment which he assured me would greatly benefit not only the assigned caregiver but my mother as well when she returned to independence!
The next day, my mother was first introduced to Wendy and thoroughly enjoyed her! Because Wendy had a prior vacation planned that was to take place during the period of time my mother needed assistance, Masha assigned Katie to cover for Wendy while she was away. Katie came out on day two to assist my mom. Fortunately, I was present when Katie came to meet my mother and assist her with the plan of care that was implemented and reviewed by my mother, myself and Noah. Katie immediately began to take care of my mom like she was her own mother! What a lovely, caring spirit she displayed. I familiarized Katie with what needed to be done while my mother went to bed as she had been to her PCP that morning and was still in considerable pain. My mother’s PCP ordered some x-rays for my mother and while I was with Katie and my mom, the PCP office called me later that morning and informed me that my mother needed to be taken directly to the ER again as the x-ray had revealed a life-threatening condition that required immediate intervention.
I informed Katie that I was sorry and that I had to take my mom immediately to the ER. Katie, without hesitation, began to help me get my mother out of bed and into a wheelchair for transport. Katie continued to reassure my mother that everything was going to be okay! Katie ensured that should it become necessary, we collected adequate items for a possible overnight stay, for my mom. I felt so comfortable having just met Katie and seeing her caring nature and straight forward and considerate spirit, I asked Katie to remain in my mother’s home and continue to do the cleaning, laundry and grocery storage we had previously discussed that needed to be done. Katie had already begun preparing a meal for my mother and stopped and cleaned up and bagged up in the freezer the remainder of the food products that needed storage. I told Katie to lock the door on her way out. Katie gave me her cell phone and asked me to keep her updated as to my mother’s outcome. She was genuinely concerned for my mom. What a wonderful care giving spirit! My mother was admitted to the hospital and I no longer required the services of BrightStar Care as my mother was scheduled to discharge to a skilled nursing facility upon discharge for rehabilitation. I returned home to a cleaned up home! Even payment of the bill was simple. My mother had authorized any charges be applied to her credit card so even payment for services was effortless!
I would HIGHLY recommend this company for care for a loved one should they need ADL assistance on an hourly, daily, weekly basis or even 24/7 care. They are very reasonably priced and provided superior care and services in the short time I interacted with both the team leaders and their caregivers! Thank you BrightStar Care!

I think that there were more internal issues with the company with getting people out to the house. They had to switch people sometimes because of things going on with them. That was a little difficult for me.
They got in there and pitched in to get what I needed. They went beyond working in the house and tried to meet my needs. They were also very personable.

There was a time when someone came and their car was so tiny that we couldn't fit everything in it. The caregiver was a nice person, but the car was too small. And at another time, the car was very run down.
We're quite concerned about the prices.

I have some brain damage, and I've been isolated and home bound with no family for ten years. They take my blood pressure, and just from the services they've provided my blood pressure has been going down. It's from them being here and having someone to talk to, and whatever I ask them to do, they do it.
The two girls I have are great. The girls are extremely punctual, especially Eve, who comes at 6 a.m., even though both of them have kids. That's an extra point for them.

Even if I checked in and made calls to her, I didn't really need to because things were going well. I never had any issues or any reasons to call. It was nice to be able to touch base with someone who was there at the time. I really needed some time off. I had a vacation and was able to get some time of the vacation completely off. Without BrightStar Care, I wouldn't have been able to.
I really liked everyone that I dealt with. I was impressed with the nurse and how the evaluation was done. Once when my mother wasn't feeling well, she was right on it taking care of it.

I had a lot of trouble with people that would come in and sit on the couch and sit on their phones and watch TV while doing nothing else.
They have new management. They were becoming a little bit repetitive in trying to call me and getting me to subscribe to their services. I went with them because I didn't like my previous services, but they're not much better.

BrightStar Care was good at the beginning and did a thorough assessment. However, a few times there was scheduling issues that included people not showing, or being late. BrightStar Care was helpful to the both of us because I don't have time to take care of Lucy and they did things for her that she couldn't do herself.
