The Director of Nursing first meets with you to determine the kind of care needed. A plan is created which focuses on keeping your loved one safe and comfortable at home while maintaining their current lifestyle with as much independence and dignity as possible. Some were outstanding and some of them were rookies who weren't familiar with a Hoyer lift. They should understand what insurances are and aren't accepted. They told me they took my insurance 100% and then after a week they said they didn't.

The caregiver I had was very nice but she was timid. I needed somebody who was a little bit more forth-right in what needs to be done, doesn't need to be told what needs to be done, and sort of takes the lead. There was a language barrier with the helper I had. That made it difficult because it took so long to explain what I needed done so I just didn't do it or I had somebody else help me.

They can make sure that I have caregivers for each of the scheduled appointment times. Some of their rules are unreasonable like not letting the caregivers take the dog out or do anything for the spouse.

There are circumstances are difficult, the first person they sent out only came once. The next person was only here two or three times. But the latest caregiver didn't seem to want to be here. They have been very responsive, we have had more trouble with them though.

The agency should have quality people on staff who are busy with my dad the whole time he is there. There should people who do not have as much of a language barrier. I don't disagree with having international people there but sometimes they cannot understand my dad. I would like to see their staffing and ability to schedule people improved. My dad has been dropped off the schedule many times and we don't know why.
